  1. Britney Spears - Toxic (Toxic rmx) or is that too obvious? most other remixes are pretty obnoxious as well.
  2. haven't heard this mix yet, but definitely trust krelm's taste. will check it out as soon as i can. cheers!
  3. indeed. most overrated band in history.
  4. Touch Samadhi is based in North Carolina, 12 hours from New York and 17 hours from Boston, which are both also on the East Coast and have lots of parties. best info source is here: http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/.../23784/forum/28 also http://www.psytrance.us North American psy forum with more party listings from the Midwest, etc.
  5. I thought Tellus 2 - Addiction was a very, very mediocre album. sorry. Psychonaut - vol. 1 was very underrated. It still sounds great, 5 years later.
  6. I think because Isratrance is so huge and full of kids, if they didn't moderate it heavily, it'd be utter chaos. don't judge by the first impression. both forums are good for what they are. cheers
  7. haha - a Haltya rmx of Ghostbusters would be a treat. How about a Squaremeat remix of James Brown? Loopus in Fabula did a great remix of Jefferson Airplane 'Somebody to Love' he played live. I've been looking for that track but can't find it anywhere. Hope it comes out at some point.
  8. I thought GMS did it a few months ago. or it may have been Beetlejuice. anyway I'd like to hear some remixes of classic rock like the Doors - Light My Fire, Led Zep, Jefferson Airplane, the Beatles even. I think it could be done really well and not sound too cheesy.
  9. Despite the commercial tracklist, there are some good tracks on here. Definitely a bit monotonous, but could've been much worse. Liked the Logic Bomb and Space Cat tracks, etc. Perfect material for a lollipop party.
  10. ditto. i do get mild flashbacks to all kinds of different substances and experiences - like for example, last week i was getting a massage, and had this intense 'coming down off E' feeling in my body for a few minutes. not too pleasant, and it's been a while since i took any. i think these things have to do with triggering toxic deposits in your body - in the fat, the muscles, etc. the toxins get released into your bloodstream for a brief period of time, and then disappear. just like when you fast or cleanse for a while, you can relive memories from the past that are stored as chemical 'photographs' in your body.
  11. lol indeed, indeed. don't know what the hype is all about. as full-on goes, pop stream isn't bad. but it isn't all that... maybe the next album will prove me wrong? hope so
  12. Ashes to Ashes is a classic. dunno about the rest.
  13. blah it's a decent compilation - but i've grown to expect much from Twisted, and this one just doesn't deliver as promised. It's mostly morning semi-psychedelic stuff. The only track that really stands out is Metal Sharon - Balloon Dance. don't flame me too much now..
  14. I love Darshan. The best dark Goa for me. both Awakening and Spectra are great albums..
  15. funniest description of burningman i've ever heard. first of all, it's the last week of August/first weekend of September. second of all, nobody will stop you from entering if you have a ticket. even if you didn't bring enough water or food. basically, it's up to you to survive in the heat and the cold and the 60 mile-an-hour winds. they do have a helicopter rescue team to take your ass to the hospital if needed. third of all, it's not about trade. It's about participation and gifts. Bring it, build it, so that others would enjoy it. It's like this whole huge psychedelic las vegas for one week in the middle of the nevada desert. it's really an experiment in a different kind of society. you don't go there just to party, to pay to rip the fruits of other people's labor. you (and everyone) are there to make the party happen. burningman is not a consumer event. that's the main difference between burningman and any other festival. but if you're going for the music, I'd suggest you choose something else. There's a decent amount of psytrance there, but it's not the main genre anymore. You'll hear a lot more breaks and house than psytrance. hope this helps
  16. Para Halu is pretty dark. Also, Grapes of Wrath (GOW), Dronebixie, Derango, Jellyheadz, Datakult (resonantearth.com), Penta, and others. Tim Schuldt, 3 Point Turn, Ominus, Cydonia, Darshan, and others made some pretty dark music in the past. though dark psytrance isn't nearly as dark as, say, goth or industrial music.
  17. New album from Squaremeat. also new Benza.. new Penta as well.
  18. Where isratrance is about full-on and dark psy - with some progressive - this forum seems to be leaning toward goa. well, I like variety in my music, so i guess i'll write on both. no other global psy forums, eh? what about chaishop - is that one still around? also there's a US psy forum at www.psytrance.us it's a bit slow, but it's picking up. lots of kids from the middle part of the country on there. check it out - all are welcome. cheers.
  19. Indeed. It would be nice to have some darker, nighttime goa.. I wonder why almost none of the above mentioned releases are suitable for nighttime play. Also, I don't think of Talpa as 'goa' - just not the same musical structure. Just like The Gathering isn't 'goa' for me. But I guess that a matter of opinion.
  20. Not sure where in the US you have partied, but _all_ psytrance DJs here that I have heard (outside of San Francisco ) know how to mix seamlessly. The reason? most of them came from other genres, and the crowds here are used to house/techno music where beatmatching is the first skill you learn. If you trainwreck at a club here, they'll kick you off the decks. As to Goa Gil - he may be American by birth, but I think at this point he belongs to the world.
  21. nah.. i used to play dnb years ago, and it was easier than most 4/4. same with breaks. with dnb you mix on the breaks, not on the beat, so you don't need to beat synch as precisely as with 4/4. now if you scratch, as some dnb djs do, it gets a bit harder.
  22. Nostalgia? The thing is, almost no one in the crowd understands that feeling. unless you go play in a retirement home. just trying to offer a different perspective here, you know?
  23. yes, fluffy... you know, cheesy. gotta be careful with those melodies. otherwise, the only thing differentiating goa from full-on is the bassline. when there can be so much more.
  24. A lot of those are waaay too fluffy. As I remember, 'real' Goa could be pretty dark. Filteria album is nice like that. Hope to see some not-so-fluffy Goa out there as well. cheers
