  1. Thank you for the comments guys. I am indeed working on a second album, although going slower than I had anticipated due to life - I now live with someone and can't just spend entire weekends locked in the studio. It will be shorter, clocking at 65/70 minutes, and perhaps more acidic and a little darker than AURYN. I have now 4 tunes, three of which can be found on my set at 2015 Connection festival: @Padpamani, I'm glad you see it that way. I do indeed make music to dance to, definitely music I would dance to. The way I see it, festivals and parties are the whole point and soul of this sort of music to me.
  2. What do you mean by ektoplazm is closed?
  3. Igor did a great job, as always. Subtle and respectful of the original sound. As it should be.
  4. PS: thanks to everyone who voted for Siege of Phobos!
  5. Looking forward to listening to the whole thing!
  6. Hey folks! Here's a recording of the set I played at Connection 2015. Includes 3 unreleased/yet-to-be-finalised tunes I'm reserving for album #2 as well as a bit of AURYN and reworked versions of Sagittarius A* and Is Pause no. Here's the tracklist: 1. Naked Singularity 2. The Star Cloister 3. Navigator 4. Mercury Rising 5. Is Pause No (Extended Version) 6. A New Name 7. Sagittarius A* (live rework) 8. AURYN Enjoy!
  7. That was a bit good! Loved every second of it. Didn't actually see that many forumers though, only very quickly Mars and Imba. Not even Anoebis, and he can be seen from a distance usually! Top festival indeed.
  8. I'll be there also, from Friday probably. Looking forward to seeing again some old faces and perhaps even some new ones
  9. Happy birthday, Neogoa! A proper success story on free music if there was ever one. Well done all!
  10. Filteria makes incredible music. He also has a very marked sound of his own, never generic. Quite unique. IMO.
  11. Oh wow, thank you so much to all of those who voted! In between Filteria and D5, two of my goa-heroes from when I started listening to this music. Very pleased!
  12. I love this idea. Should any of my tunes get selected, I'll probably rework it for the occasion.
  13. Epic piece of music. Production is tighter than ever before, all the tunes are interesting and never boring, filteria-like yet never repetitive. The new mix on birds lingua franca improves greatly the original, my favourite tune on this album. Lovely.
  14. Been waiting for this! Filteria is one of the reasons I got into the new school thing in the first place.
  15. This is a recording of my live set for Connection Festival 2013. It includes new versions for Is Pause No and Sagittarius A* plus many tunes from AURYN. Computer crapped out when trying to save the actual recording of the performance at the event though, so here's the backup recording of that set instead. Tracklist: 1. Nothing 2. The Emperor's Way 3. Uyulala 4. The Star Cloister 5. Is Pause No (live extended version) 6. Graograman 7. A New Name 8. Sagittarius A* (live rework) 9. AURYN As ever it's a free download in case streaming doesn't do it for you. Enjoy! Edit: for some reason the forum software insists on making a link inside the sc embed code, here's the soundcloud URL http://soundcloud.com/blackstarrfinale/connection-festival-2013
  16. That was most excellent. Was great to finally meet Nikola, Renato, Alexander, Stevo and Joske. Beautiful crowd and environment to party on and a most excellent stage to perform from and to trip to. Loved it!
  17. Thank you again guys for the lovely words, but also for such sincere criticism, they're both appreciated and very helpful. It's now time for me to think past AURYN, and will be toying with new ideas over the next few months before I settle on a new theme for a second album.
  18. I had a great time dancing to M-Run at Lost Theory a couple of weeks back, groovy cheeky stuff that went down a treat. Haven't seen such a feral dancefloor for a very long time.
  19. It's a hard question to answer as different people respond in different ways to the same groove. I avoid straight machinegun-like rhytmic patterns if I can help it, at least not on all elements at the same time as I find it sounds flat. Silences I find personally important for groove, especially when on unexpected notes, on any of the frontline elements of the mix, eg, stuff that makes the same noise on every 16th note. Either way, a good kickdrum, a warm bassline plus attention to detail on all the percussive elements go a long way to get my arse moving when listening to dance music.
  20. Thank you Michael for a great, sincere and felt review! Glad you came around at the end too wasn't really trying to be different, but I certainly didn't try to blend in too much with the signature sound of any genre either. To be fair I knew about the boy band already, but had the idea of AURYN in my mind since I was a teenager, well before they were born.
  21. Buildups which lead to another buildup which lead to a 1 bar tease into a drop which is just the kb track. And variations thereof. Fucking annoying. Any buildup which doesn't lead to an immediate, powerful enough release sends me into a frothy murderous frenzy.
