NOOO! A world falls apart for me! This was the ambient release I anticipated the most this year, would have ordered it right away if I had the money and now I hear it's not that good? Do you own Ease Division 1 or 2?
-
Ah, nice, so I finally found the thread where people discuss this ... I already thought about starting a new one What I find funny is, that just when I'm away for a few days or decrease activity, then something happens here. This is getting suspicious I mean, I still don't get what an attack has to do with closing the Offtopic (as far as I read up it has), but anyway...

Neil Gibson's works are indeed the best ones I know. I haven't seen them hanging on parties yet, I bet I'd freak out :posford: Gret respect to this man. Shocking that one of them got stolen The best deco team (IMO) that we have around here is Calaquendi, from the austrian countryside. Check out their backdrops: http://www.calaquendiart.com/paintings.htm Some of their "Atlantis Renaissance" theme (the first two) were hanging at an S-Range gig I remember

Discogs had a survey recently ... why didn't you all tell them what you hate about it? I did, although the dialog box was called "what I like about it", but I still told them, in there (clearly marked in capital letters that it's what I HATE and not what I like ... somebody should tell 'em to make a hate box, I forgot to do that)...
-
A few samples there... but it doesn't make me fall from the chair ... the groove is not bad, but other than that it's not that special IMO...
-
Son Kite - Aiwana in particular!!!!! how could I forget that one...
-
The saddest song I know? Difficult. I'd say it's Vond - Selvmord ... or something along the lines of ... this special type of no future dark ambient sad music. I almost don't listen to it anymore though because this stuff is so depressive that when I'm depressed this really can drag me faaar down... Other than that, Desiderii Marginis - Still Life is also a very cold and sad song...
-
Etnoscope are the best you can get in that direction IMO I only hope they'll finally release a new album some day
-
doublepost ... merde
-
good for you then ... guess I'd have had a bit of a different approach to this one if I hadn't been expecting so much...
-
Listening to the streams right now and I don't really like it It's ordinary Tiesto Emotrance to me. Nothing special at all. A little bit better than his older stuff though, but nothing to bring a smile on my face. Thanks for reminding me that Trance is still crap as ever and that I'll never return there
-
hey! This sounds cool, I'm interested aswell
-
good one! much more down to earth than the other docu IMO... thanks
-
oh my gosh, Mercan Dede ... they're great... I have their album "Su" (Water). But this music I rather associate with Ambient ... "Sufi Ambient", I guess that's how Arkin even called it himself ... and I always sleep off when I listen to Su, don't know why ... I'd not have associated Mercan Dede with the songs you posted. Yet they're on Doublemoon aswell (which is Babazula's label). Check it out, I'm sure you like

already 5 people with over 13 hours ... you must be insane, guys I'm glad to be still in the average
-
hehehehehe But the documetary is good as it showed me that I actually don't have (and might never had) anything in common with these folks. I even focus on totally different aspects of the music! I like the creative use of effects and sounds at the right time, that's what I like ... they like rather the cosmic melodies which I actually find too emo to like. Goa is not my thing anymore and obviously never really was! I have respect for it, but the only thing it really was for me was a quick plurry instant fix for all the hate and tension in the commercial trance scene. That's a remarkable insight ... I'd probably have chewed on this some more time if I haven't found out now... Now that my musical view has broadened a hundredfold it's time to not calling me that much of a psy- or goa-head anymore and to venture further into other soundscapes

was the best one I knew cheers
-
awww, shit! but but BUT: in Febuary I'll have my final exam (yes, I will ... no screw up this time, I promise)! So this piece will be my graduate gift ... from them to me! Sweet ... a new Astral album extra for me, thanks sooo much, that wouldn't have been necessary
-
sorry, pal, don't know anything like that I could help you out with a little bit of turkish pop though ... something like this: ... it also seems to have an odd rhythm, but maybe that's just me ... doubt that this is what you lookin' for
-
That's the case with almost every artist, isn't it?
-
I don't really get that anyway, cheers

understand and even partly agree with some of your points, but to cut this short: ad A: the stuff sells ... that's the reason ... and if it gets too psychedelic it's too hard to digest for meny people at the parties ... no joke ad B: if you craft a set well, it doesn't lose hardness ... you are probably listening to bad DJs, I had this problem aswell on a 1337 darkpsy party - "pran pran pran pran pran" all the time, helluva boring ... well-crafted sets, even when they're dark (have been to other darkpsy parties, not that 1337-ly announced), never even let you think the thought that it could get repetitive... ad C: set crafting ... that's also valid here. And this is the reason why I don't go to ordinary local DJ gigs already since years ... even while some of them are god most of it's just, well, badly crafted so to say ... I rather watch artists where I know what they sound like and that they are capable of delivering a set that doesn't get boring.... ad D: not the case here ... you mostly gotta know which crew's organizing to know what sound to expect ... but it's good that I know what to expect, it gives me more control ... which is good! ad E: I once had a night full of morning trance (kinda) and it was awful ... the morning approach is starting to disguise me on parties ... even though I privately actually only enjoy morning trance, I'm liking night time trance on parties much more... ad F: I rather prefer new releases to hear what's going on in the scene at the time, I'm used to not knowing 99 percent of the tracks played and it's good like that...

Not turkish, but try Transglobal Underground... like this for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UHTtdd9QPE nice?

My last buys are already more than a month back or so, but this is a good thread to say what I think because I'm just too damn lazy to write a review. Various - Bakkelit 2.1 Bakkelit is back! With a new progressive track from S-RANGE together with Bakke himself! That's right! Agent 17 is Anthony's new alias While this having been THE reason to buy the piece for me, the compilation also holds other gems, for example Solar Fields' On A Wind, new tunes from SBK and Gaudium ... and also the rest is not bad. A very good compilation, better than the first Bakkelit if you ask me, but that one's so way back and the sound changed so much that you can't really compare the two... Audiomatrixx - Variations This one was very very good at first, although on the long run I missed the sharpness of Magnetrixx' effects a bit. Anyway, still the best you can get when longing for that special type of nice progressive. Hilight Tribe - Maha-Wave Somebody recommended them to me on here I remember and I finally got an album. These guys make nice tribal music with also real instruments and not only electronic sounds. Nice. They lack a bit of kickass in the longer run though. Front 242 - P.U.L.S.E. At first listen I was skeptical (I only knew Work 242 before that), but this one is actually a damn good album ... the synths are screaming, kranky and addictive! Lots of energy in the sound, a firework for my senses - and a totally different one as I know it from characteristical psy music, it's sharper, more concentrated and energetic, I really love that! And by the way: I don't know ... I didn't like Back To Earth very much. The fact that it was proclaimed as "ambient album" and released on Chillcode and marketed with the phrase "old, previously unrlsd tracks" made me expect something like Abduction (the song) ... and what I got was no way near that. Lo-Ride Sloucher was great. A few other tracks were not bad aswell. But on the long run I pretty much abandoned that piece and don't listen to it anymore...

That's quite a musical journey you have there, Pixie I just can say I came from techno and trance towards psytrance, goa and psychill ... and I discovered metal and dark ambient while on the way. And nowadays I'm going back away from all the chaos to more structured progressive sounds and venturing a little into different musical realms, industrial and such ... that's it basically.
