  1. Yeah I don't know why I implied it's the exact same. I'd like to see more contributions to this thread, this stuff is interesting!
  2. Isn't Omnivox kind of the modern version of it? At least some of it.
  3. Damn it's like you stepping on the one who's helping you.
  4. Well the Mind Rewind compilations have done some magic, that's the kind of treatment I would love to hear.
  5. I'm not saying all the tracks (by any means) on the albums sound bad but tracks like Ion Tribe, Silicon Trip, Open Mind and Why? definitely could sound a lot better than what they do now. Just refresh the whole package, you get the tracks that sound good still good and the tracks that sound worse much better. Yes I am not confusing the musicality of it to the lack of punch in audio quality. Remastering those tracks wouldn't change what's great about it, just make them sound better, more accurate, give some of the layers that little breathing room they need imho. In a track like sunshine the layers feel like they are starting to overlap and clip with each others, all the sounds get stuck together, it just makes for a messy unappealing sound. It does help musically the album is a monster but damn give me some remasters and I'd throw all them dollars at it. I mean this could just be preference but I'd love to see what they would sound with a remaster. They hardly get rotation on my playlists because of the fact I am not so keen on how they sound while I like the musical parts. Then again I avoid tinny albums regardless. Refer to "nool sonrg" from Somaton. I think the remaster breathes new life to it, though unfortunately it seems to have panning issues with a layer and I got no idea how they missed that.
  6. I know this discussion has happened before but I couldn't find any recent threads for the specific requests. What albums do you think would benefit the most from a remaster? Be it availability or sound quality. I for one don't care as much for remasters for the sake of getting a new print batch anymore, but damn if some of the old school stuff has a flat sound for todays standard. I'll start with the most obvious. Pleiadians - IFO is in dire need for a remaster. After those Etnica remasters I can only imagine what kind of a sound can be pulled out of this album. It's a timeless classic but it really doesn't sound up to par when it comes to audio quality. Another is Somaton and Shakta. Some tracks like Ion Tribe just sound terrible. After hearing the remastered Somaton - Nool Sonrg on Mind Rewind 2 I can only imagine how much better the debut albums of these acts would sound. MFG - Project Genesis. Absolutely a stellar album that has some of the muddiest sound I've heard. There's plenty of old school that sounds great to this day and there is also tons of remastered albums already, but no reason to stop there! Some of this brilliant music needs a second life.
  7. Why wasn't the Total Eclipse track on MR2!? What a tune.
  8. Well to be fair it doesn't take that long for bluray quality to surface on the web these days. It used to be a lot worse.
  9. Well I guess I should mention all retail prices in my country average around ~20€ for a new CD.
  10. The Core (2003) What a silly movie. Like super silly. With extremely bad CGI. Thing is, it's entertaining as hell, look at dat all star cast. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0298814/?ref_=rvi_tt Has some potential for good goa samples too. Recommended.
  11. This is much more psy than goa.
  12. 19:20 E-mantra - Approaching Nibiru Right after that it's E-Mantra - Shamanistic rituals 44:20 Party Droids - Biogenesis Blaster 51:00 Artifact303 - Feelings 58:20 Radical Distortion - Sunrise Zone 1:02:00 Crop Circles - Lunar Civilization (Filteria's Higher Remix) 1:06:00 Anja - The Art Of Happiness 1:42:00 Alienapia - Estimate Of Standing Crop 1:45:00 Alienapia - Innerpoison
  13. For normal person who has an average job the price is seriously very little for a new CD. If you like the music and want to support the scene, especially goa, the investment pays off. I can understand those who are less fortunate and have troubles scratching up the dough it gets a little dicier. It also seems (to me anyway) Goa is thriving in poorer countries for some reason. Also some of the money that should go into the music itself gets diverted to other things really easy. There's ton's of parties going on and you'd think these people would be also willing to buy the music but it doesn't seem that way. There needs to be a stronger mentality of "support". I know there's people who say they won't buy music because big record labels but also miss the point of small independent labels needing the support to keep going. At least donate if you don't care for the physical products, it only helps to acquire more of what you like. Think of this way, your money matters!
  14. What does this mean!?
  15. Dat records #2 anyone? I'm actually really surprised about Mindsphere, a new album already? I hope this time it's some of those old demos that were never released. I loved those.
  16. Yes, you should. Nice track but I also did not find it very emotional. No clue as to who's the artist.
  17. I wasn't so keen on the bright melodies toward the end, come off a little cheesy for my liking but the first half of the track was super stellar. Just like old school goa, very psychedelic.
  18. Filteria - Dog Days Bliss and Chakra - Liquid Troll share the same main melodies.
  19. http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php/topic/49038-hmm-i-think-ive-heard-that-before/ should go to this thread in the future. I really love noticing these though. As far as "why" they share the same melody? I don't have a clue, it just seems to happen occasionally.
  20. LIME! In that case Koxbox is obviously full-on.
  21. There's also another fact to consider and both of those tracks share cheesy melodies. As great as BLF is the melodies after 7:40 become really predictable and cheesy. Also from a purely audio design standpoint Maia runs circles on either track. Maia is flawless. It just needs a remaster. Agreed. And not everything-pleiadians was perfect either. It's just that certain tracks cross a fine threshold.
  22. I also agree with the 5 year old sentiments that a downtempo ender is great, let's you cool off from an album. Having a short intro is also quite cool. Then again Artifact303 - Back To Space showed how you can stick a downtempo number in the middle of an album very efficiently.
  23. I was pretty hyped around the release for this after the great title track on shaltu, but this "album" sounds more like an EP with a track that has a bunch of versions/remixes. I understand the idea behind releasing the album, the guy has a great unique sound and decent melodies but I can only say "too early" as far as the album goes. There is a serious lack of variation. Tracks 2-6 sound exactly alike with different tempo and arrangement. The lead synth is the exact same on all of them. If it was up to me I would just throw away tracks 2, 3, 5 and 6 and keep 4 as I feel it's the best out of them. As far as the other tracks go, track 7, which already appeared on Shaltu, is a proper stormer with great buildups and melodies. 1 and 8 are also respectively good, the first one sounds a lot like Radical Distortion but with innerspaces production and a bit softer sound, which I like, and the last is a nice downtempo ender. So in my opinion this album misses 4 tracks hence "too early". To give a better idea, I'd give 2/5 for the album and 4.5/5 for the 4 track EP.
  24. We've been through some odd phases. They were saying Goa is the future in the 90's and it never took off in the way people probably thought and devolved into full-on for the casual audience and it generally just seemed to sink ever since. It's going to be interesting but I still think goa itself is too hardcore for any sort of mainstream audience. Then again I don't know how people approach EDM in 10 years nor do I know what it will sound like then. However I have noticed the increasing elements of EDM in radio for sure, especially during the dubstep craze and even now where many songs reek of house.
