  1. A lot of killer tracks on this party, when was it? looks like old footage, isn't it? EDIT: Earth Dance - Trance Buddha NightClub - Amsterdam 1997.
  2. I LOVE these tracks! Skizologic is so *A$C%I£D"!! awesome stuff... will be a pleasure to listen to!
  3. Today some copies came back in stock at DAT, for whoever missed the CD, it was sold out here but now it's available again, for whoever wanted to get it on original CD Oh and it can be combined with the 3LP version, that is still available from DAT. Cheers!
  4. According to discogs, 587 left, wow, that is impressive. I am sorry to hear you let your collection go, but at the same time I understand you completely and there might a day I'd do the same. Music has to go at some point, but is good to have an archive and listen if you want

  6. @Anoebis, yes that was one track from Opale but it was not Anaconda's Dance @Technossomy, the tracks from the EP were made from 1995 to 1998, the 2 further tracks licensed were made one in 1999 and one in 2000 Yes we are very excited about this release!
  7. It's time for a great announcement: DAT Records this year will release the EP of Opale, a French producer that has never released anything but of whom I had been searching a certain track for a very long time. It was with great joy that after an extensive search, we could find out who the producer of this magnificent track was, said track was one of my favorite unreleased since I've first heard it, sometimes in the year 2000. Greg licensed 6 tracks to DAT and we will release 4 of them on the EP and two more on other VA compilations. The quality in the video is nowhere near the real track, but you can feel how awesome his style is! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TgNUwIL6ko

I wonder why would I be a fraud? makes me wonder
  9. Yes I think if there is a group that is praised as awesome, it is the green nuns... overlooked? magus
  10. Looks like a real winner this compilation, waiting eagerly for the compilation to materialize, congratulations and I can see Morphic Resonance in the tracklist, yohoo!!
  11. I think you misread my comment, for me there is NO issue, NO clipping, NO compression. I have got your point Antic, you don't like the way it sounds but I strongly disagree with your comment, I actually feel the remaster sounds WAY better than TIPCD. Period. Let's hear what other people think, I think it's way more constructive.
  12. @All: I have heard the above mentioned points at 4:02 in LTO and 5:00 to 6:00 in Star Above Parvati and cannot hear any clipping or any distortion, so that is definitely something for different ears. That said next time I will make sure to have a deeper visual analysis on the waveform together with a listening test so that if I see some sort of maximization I will ask to keep it a little lower, however I cannot stress enough that for me there is no clipping in any second of the remastered cd. I also hope you will appreciate the huge booklet, the poster and the coloured sides of the music discs. And for whoever thinks the remixes are not really interesting, well that is really personal taste, for me and for many they are stellar and something that we were VERY lucky to have. We had to wait for almost twenty years for Nick to decide to allow anyone to release them. And DJs like Max of Etnica, Tsuyoshi and Simon have played these tracks in their dj sets all over the world, back in the glorious 90s. Now you can do the same, and there's that. If I kept these tracks on some DAT tapes and just used them in my performance would have been a shame, wouldn't it? Remember it takes a great deal of energy, money and passion to release this music nowadays....
  13. Just FYI , that bandcamp is not run by me and if you want to buy the album THIS is the official bandcamp to be used: https://datrecords.bandcamp.com/ I have already written to Arabesque asking for information! (more drama to the thread...)
  14. First of all: there is no audible clipping in the release, not that I can hear. We all are professionals here, some of us in the music business for over 30 years (some of my associates) and I won't accept false accusations. Whenever we remaster something, it is possible a few inaudible frequencies, get out of the audible range because this way we recover hidden sounds and frequencies that although there, could not be heard before. And in the Doof original album that is exactly what has happened. So when people instead of listening with their eyes and spectrograms, listen with their ears will hear that there are no distortions in the album. It's louder, yes, but has it got audible clipping? Hello No! I actually care about comments and feedback but it seems here we are going very much into details that some won't understand properly and thus be maybe discouraged to get the release. This is a promotional thread after all and I think that all of this, should maybe have been into a review thread. Actually I might ask an Admin, once a review gets posted, to move all the posts from here to there. It would make much more sense to me. Cheers
  15. you made me laugh hard and yes, you did your homework , very good! @Balance: thanks for the support, don't worry I know it's hard to beat psyshop if you are in Australia. That said I also offer immediate digital download when the CD is bought after the release date (such as now) and whoever bought the cd before the release, got a link by email the day 24 to download the album in both mp3 and flac and the full artwork If you buy the digital download version on the DAT website you will have also the same content now! Cheers!
  16. I'd only answer briefly to this comment of yours Antic, and I respect it since it's your personal opinion and taste but at the same time I have to state that: I have had so many people who wrote to me saying that the original CD sounds way better than the TIP version and if you think A.D. did not work on the album as a whole, that is your opinion, but far from the truth. We have had him working on the album for a very long time and we heard first versions of mastering, gave comment and got others versions, actually the final pressed album is the 3rd revision of the mastering and a team of five, plus Nick, listened to it all, before finalizing it. So allow me to be really in shock for your review/opinion. Nick himself was the final judge. That said I respect your point of view and hope you will listen to the remixed album because it's really worth it. Finally, if you are up for a challenge and since it seems you are an audio engineer yourself, why don't you remaster the original album and send me a link to how you think it should really sound? I'd be curious to hear . Edit: Oh I almos forgot, there's also the humble opinion of Psyreviews to check out, if you want to decide if it's worth buying http://psyreviews.net/2015/04/doof-lets-turn-on-remixed-remastered-dat/
  17. Wicked stuff, I could not really imagine the media I found to be the crappiest in the 90s is coming back. I guess it's the damn hipsters who brought them back, with all that retro stuff they are into from the 80s ... jokes aside is fun to see I guess. But as I owned and still own a lot of tapes from the 90s I guess I won't really go back to that medium so there won't be DATTAPE001, no need to invest in that ghetto blaster you always wanted to buy, yet.
  18. Thanks for the super cool comments so far and I am sure all of you will be pleased with the music of the 2CD! About mastering: We opted for the gentle but very present touch of Analog Dimension because we both felt, me and Mark, it was the best for this release. We liked the way he made the sound balanced and clearer but without killing any dynamics. That said we did not want any re-bass or heavier intervention on the tracks because we did not feel it was needed. The samples on soundcloud are just mp3s as the site compress everything to 128 kbps so you cannot really judge much from there. I personally believe the old album sounds terrific now and much better than the TIP or Twisted pressing (twisted apparently did not remaster anything). Furthermore we started from the original un-mastered DAT versions for the original album too, and we got a very shiny polished sound that in some tracks revealed some details that cannot be heard on the TIP version, for example and an excellent final result, you'll hear and be the judge. We had to wait a very long time for the mastering to be finished because we did a lot of versions of each track and not until everyone was satisfied, Nick included, we closed that chapter. I hope it will please you all! About t-shirts: it's a terrific idea, both to do one similar to the old-school version and a new-school one all pink and whatnot. Ideally I'd do both pink and black, and with a more modern touch than the TIP version, still blinkin' an eye to them shirts. As you very well know t-shirts ARE expensive when made well and if I were to do something like the official DAT shirt, with fluorescent colours and extra quality cotton I'd be looking at some 2500 euro investment, minimum, so I'll have to be careful because, even if I know I might sell 10-15 in the blink of an eye, when I do something I need to know that at least 50 people would bout it, for real, not promises even if it is a shirt that will cost over 20 euro. So there's that too to consider, but I love the artwork and the album so much that I will probably risk it. The indiegogo campaign could be an idea as well, I'll think about it, at least to have a boost initial finance to get things moving. About more Doof tracks: I will investigate once I meet Nick in Ibiza later this year, I know there is more but maybe not enough for a full CD or maybe Nick won't agree to release, there is also that. I will let you know, but meanwhile, please enjoy the NOW and this awesome release! About Bandcamp: I will put the release there on Friday too, for everyone to stream and also buy as digital download, you can always chip in a few extra euro if you want and then I'd be getting the full price, as you'd basically would pay the % they get. If you want to buy from me and get it from bandcamp then I will probably buy download codes from there and give you guys one, I might just do that maybe . About buying from Suntrip: If my shipping is really too high or if you want to combine with some of their releases yes, you can order from them but it will arrive there a little later because I need all the support I can for this one, I have had to pay pressing two times, and I can't stress that enough. But all the support is welcome of course and any sale is important for me! Aloha!
  19. We shipped back the whole lot and repressed the discs only, they repacked the release keeping the case, artwork and poster, so only the CDs were destroyed, still it cost almost as much as the first pressing, because colored discs and because of the repacking process. Meanwhile:
  20. Ah hum, it will probably depend on your connection, but I suppose it will be crappy again since it streams from the USA. Other than that I will also make it available on Bandcamp, so maybe you'll be better off there : )
  21. @Balance I will release it digitally on the 24th of course, hoping you will buy it from the official DAT Records store, which is where they don't steal me half the profit @EmperorOfTheUniverseKingGoa Unfortunately shipping rates raised and a US consumer who actually paid 15 eur for his pack delivered underpaid me, I found out at the post office his pack was 17.5 eur (but he ordered 4 CD). And I am not charging anything on the top of it, just the paypal tax, that I also have to pay. That said at the moment it costs the same to order from DAT shop or from Psyshop for example (at least if you are in Europe), so I really hope everyone I know will buy from the shop, as I remind you I had to press this album twice, and it features an awesome 16 page booklet, plus a poster, 2 shiny coloured CD and whatnot. To everyone: I would love to make the tshirts, and realistically I will, but probably for the summer? I will look into it but so far I was too busy with the repressing and all, so it is unlikely you can get one like in a week or so. Maybe I will try to see if there is any of these "print as you go" places where you only submit an image and they make it, maybe not the best quality but good enough. I'll keep you posted.
  22. The cover is koxbox style but the music is 100% full on, i have heard the samples on psyshop and well it is not what i expected, but of course it would be better to hear full tracks. Also this was made by Frank & Illinton
  23. So here's that, 3 years ago I went to this AMAZING party in London, called the Elixir of Life and Shane Gobi played one of the best set I have heard in my entire life, and mind it, it was full on. I cannot define it anything other than psychedelic full on because it was full of layers, acid lines and whatnot but still it was 100% full on. Can anyone recognize what track is playing at 13:37 on this video I grabbed of that night? I might have recorded only one track but the set was amazing.
