amphiton
VA - Gathering The Tribe Pretty heavy promo text: Gathering the Tribe is a unique blend of new world grooves that explores uncharted horizons within the Californian / West Coast festival sound. With a focus firmly on female vocals, live drums and natural instrumentation, this compilation is a stunning musical bridge where the realms of acoustic and electronic sound weave together for maximum listening pleasure. Compiled by DJ Neerav, Gathering the Tribe is arranged as an audio travelogue inspired by memories of Latin American travels, journeys to summer music festivals, and the joyous meetings of friends and fellow travellers along the way. As a tribute to the vibrant live music scene currently flourishing on the West Coast and beyond Interchill branches out in this compilation to feature the music of live bands - Hamsa Lila, Sasha Butterfly & Galen Shakatura [Kin Ship], Adham Shaikh and Tina Malia - alongside familiar label artists. The result is an inspiring collection of tracks composed of live and organic sounds within more traditional song structures.Intended for the roadtrip, Gathering the Tribe is sure to be a top choice for those traveling the festival circuit this summer as well as for the DJs playing at them.Neerav will be showcasing these sounds on a summer DJ tour that will take in the Eclipse, Shambhala, Burning Man and Earthdance festivals with many other gigs along the way. - Following hot on the heels of Naasko's extremely well received "Arcana"compilation and Kaya Project's universally acclaimed 2nd album "Elixir", "Gathering the Tribe" is already gathering a buzz as one of the most anticipated releases of this summer. - A new concept and fresh direction for Interchill, sure to please the regularfan base as well as those who are on the fringe of electronica and curious about it. - Most of the tracks were created or remixed specifically for this compilation and are previously unreleased. The compiler worked closely with all artists in order to achieve a unified journey, with a focus on live sounding drums, strong vocal precense, and positive, conscious lyrics. - Canadian and European artists well known in both the tribal and electronic genres are also featured: Kaya Project, Adham Shaikh, Jairamji, Gus Till, creating a very strong cross-over appeal for fans of electronica, festivals, acoustic, jambands, ethno, vocal based songs, and more. - Strong selling points for those interested in related music forms due to the presence of artists such as: Tina Malia, Hamsa Lila, Bassnectar, and vocalist Sasha Butterfly. - Unites music from a variety of different musical 'tribes' (both modern and traditional) from across the globe. - The tribal flavours of this comp range from Latin American, African, and Indian to South American. - "Gathering the Tribe" contains several tracks destined to be 'hits' at the festivals this season; sure to be strongly sought after by dj's and home listeners alike. - The perfect blend of music for summer road trips, sacred moments, djs, healers, dancers, and fans of vocals and tribal beats, seamlessly woven into a stunning journey. - Female vocals are a strong and comforting constant throughout, perfectly complementing the earthy beats. - Striking album cover and interior design by Onbeyond Metamedia, featuring original artwork by Berin Germany's Cornelia Schmidt. andrew interchill
that's right pal... to be an A&R you do need a really cool sounding indian name the point is that not all releases are going to appeal to everyone... we like it that way... so yes, there will be more cd's like sanctuary and journey to the sun directed at the yoga/meditative market [next year], and there's going to be a new entirely dub oriented sub label starting with a comp from Gaudi... we've all got opinions... if you think the music is dull then why not compile and release something that meets your standards... that is really all we are doing gathering the tribe doesn't sound like any release out there that i've heard... which is something that makes me happy... no point repeating what you've done before or preaching to the converted... neerav did a great job... for all his talent he is a very humble person and has all my respect
furthur
dub sublabel? comp from gaudi? myself, i don't like promo texts that try to sound ultra-spiritual myself, let the music do the talking in this case, however, i did not perceive this at all
djneerav
I think interchill has gotten too serious with all this spiritual mumbo jumbo.. all the djs have some super cool indian or something names 525829 Hi Towelie, while I respect your opinion, and appreciate your sense of humour, I think I'm the only Interchill DJ with a super cool indian name I worked on three texts for the release: the first one was spiritual, the second was humouristic, and the third, a bit more formal. We settled on the third. I don't find it to be spiritual at all! However it is definitely wordy, and bit serious sounding. I would have liked to release my more humourous (funny) text, but it just wasn't appropriate as the text is intended for stores and such (the sales point included in the post are meant only for buyers at stores). So if you think this is spiritual, just wait 'till you read my liner notes on the cd itself (LOL!)... In any case, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and everyone has their own taste. No harm in that, and no offense taken...have a super cool shanti baba summer And for the rest, thanks for your kind words and support. The CD is actually in stock now at Arabesque and is meant to be released June 12th... Peace, Neerav
Towelie
the tracklist looks very good and im really waiting to hear it.. new kaya project track and all.. but im not into all that spiritual stuff etc myself thats why the comments just interested about the music itself
djneerav
the tracklist looks very good and im really waiting to hear it.. new kaya project track and all.. but im not into all that spiritual stuff etc myself thats why the comments just interested about the music itself 539635 all good. variety keeps things interesting; some of us have a more scientific approach to things, some of us more spiritual... I guess the spiritual impression from the press notes comes from the fact that the release is mostly inspired by shamanic experiences in latin america, and the live music scene in california. a lot of shpongle stuff comes from a similar background. it's true what you say that it's better to let the music do the talking; it's just that when dealing with buyers for stores and the press, it's hard to avoid using descriptions... the kaya project track is pretty interesting; kind of like a more acoustic-tribal 'dorset perceptions'. i hope you find something to your taste on the cd, and you enjoy the journey...
