  1. Artist: Oliveira Title: Stellar Communication EP Label: Troll n Roll Records Date: January, 2016 01 - Oliveira vs Varanta - Stellar Communication (137 BPM) 02 - Oliveira - Hypnosis (146 BPM) 03 - Toxic Anger Syndrome - Trollskogen (Oliveira Remix) (149 BPM) I was initially drawn to this ep because of the beautiful cover. Very vivid and dreamy. Oliveira is from Sweden and this ep is described as psychedelic Scandinavian trance. All three tracks are indeed very psychedelic and on the light side. Please realize just because I said light doesn't mean simple or non-complex. They are all very lush and detailed. Stellar Communication bounces deftly through space remaining interesting throughout. Hypnosis is deep with effects and outer space sounds even if the tune itself isn't that memorable. The Trollskogen remix had a foresty vibe in it while not being forest trance. Not bad, but too much speaking kinda took some enjoyment away. BTW none of these tracks had any particular goa flavor despite the label. Decent ep with the title track being the star for me. Free at Ektoplazm
  2. Artist: Aquya Title: Liquid Touch EP Label: Tarapita Sounds Date: June, 2016 01 - Liquid Touch (139 BPM) 02 - Haunted Forest (140 BPM) 03 - Unreal (130 BPM) 04 - Feeling Sleepy (138 BPM) I haven't been reviewing stuff I've collected from Ektoplazm for awhile so I thought I'd change that. Aquya is from Estonia which I think is near the New Jersey turnpike. The blurb says he used to produce house and trance, but was lured to psy by attending parties "and states of mind." That last bit could not have been any clearer. The first track is a great exercise in 303 placement, with more squealing than that movie Uncle Ned was watching at Thanksgiving. Haunted Forest wasn't anything of the sort, but just some quality light goa. Unreal had a little too much real ordinary progressive and personally I don't believe you should call one of your tracks Feeling Sleepy if there isn't much going on. So all in all a decent little ep with gentle goa sounds at a more or less progressive tempo. Aside from the first track it's pretty much forgettable. Free at Ektoplazm
  3. Artist: Skizologic & Tsuyoshi Suzuki Title: Cosmic Creativity EP Label: HOMmega Productions Date: October, 2016 1. Cosmic Creativity 2. Tekno Tribe "I was invited to a party where I was given LSD...for the first time." Zion 604 has been a label steeped in quality with releases like Robotized, 12 Dimensions from Radical Distortion, Green Room by Deviant Electronics and the super compilation Flight 604 II. I hadn't really paid much attention to the digital side of the label, but for 3 bucks I decided to give it a whirl. Surprisingly this was released by HOMmega. Not a bad thing, just a bit of a shock. I'm more used to them releasing eye rolling full-on than goa. Only two tracks here, and for me the first one is the clear winner. It's pumping and bubbly and takes its time to evolve with nice lows and some piercing highs. All the while maintaining its swagger. Tekno Tribe was ok, but didn't have the gravitas I was looking for. 4. Artist: Various Title: Goa Trance Revolution 2: Retrofuturism Label: Goa Trance Music Date: December, 2016 1. MK Ultra - Shivarathri 2. Athena - 20 Seconds 3. Spirit Dance - Telemetry 4. Indoor - Bom Shankar (Original 1995 DAT Version) 5. Shakta - Lepton Head (Veasna Remix) 6. Proxeeus - Tyca Tyca 7. Denshi Danshi - Leave The World Behind 8. Ephedra - Disappearing Dreams 9. Clementz - Circles I'm a little uncomfortable with German youth getting this excited. Hype. As long as people have been selling something, there has been hype. And you have to otherwise the masses won't know how great your product is. So many incredible inventions have simply ceased to exist because they didn't have a Flavor-Flav type hype man telling you how everyone is getting their product and if you don't then you'll be the only loser relegated to a lonely life in your cat urine stained one room apartment. Por ejemplo: "What the f*ck? Sheep sold separately? What a rip-off." So yeah hype is aggressive marketing. Our little music scene is no different. The labels have to get the word out otherwise they're gonna be left with a lot of backstock in mommy's basement. Which is why this compilation was so refreshing. Goa Trance Music isn't a label that releases a lot, but when they do you can rely on its quality. I don't recall a sh*tload of advertising here and the only reason I know about it is because of the forum here. Word of mouth is the best advertising they say so maybe those fine folks are on to something because this album is awesome. Like the previous version, this is a mix of old hard to find goa trance as well as some of today's artists. The older ones I had never heard of and they absolutely rip. Shivarathri is a blistering opener and Spirit Dance has that beach vibe that sweeps you up and carries you all the way through. So bouncy and melodic. You also get the full version of Indoor's Bom Shankar and while the track is fine it's the long break where its worth can be found. Bee-yoo-tiful. Throw in a very old track from Athena (Miranda) and it's like it's 1995 all over again. The new guys don't disappoint either with an impressive remix of Lepton Head. Proxeeus goes full India on Tyca Tyca and doesn't forget to bring his screeching 303. I'm uncertain whether the Denshi Danshi track is new or an old one, yet it is quite involved. Great to hear. The only track that didn't knock me over was Ephedra's Disappearing Dreams. Hands down the most mellow thing I have ever heard from him. The class of the new guys though has to be the closer Circles by Clementz. Where the hell did this guy come from? What a track! Intense and old school to the bone this is X-Dream reincarnated. So bottom line, this has to be one of the best compilations of 2016. No filler to be found with great mastering by the one and only Tim Schuldt. The artwork is retro also supplied by our good friend Ivan Richpa. Thumbs way up. Goa Trance Bandcamp
  5. Artist: Masa Title: Son Ov A Seed Label: Hypnodisk Date: November, 2015 You may have noticed that I didn't provide the track list. Well, I had to listen to this nonsense so I felt that actually typing the titles would send me into a post-Vietnam PTSD rage that some of you might not survive. There are 19 tracks and I'm sure that I said "What in the unholy f*ck?" at least that many. Masa is Masayuki Kurihara from Japan and he's been around a looong while. You might recall his album Inside from 1996. I don't, but you might. He's had some tracks that I liked on some compilations, but this... First off it's broken up into two discs and contains stuff done as Masa and his alias X-Tron. A few of the tracks are previously released, but put out again as live versions. It's got that gritty, raw feeling to it that sometimes veers into pretty noisy territory. This feels like a collection of tracks scooped up from the cutting room floor that weren't able to make any album cuts. And there's no mystery here. Straight ahead all the way. It's not all turds and kidney stones though as tracks like Nu Experience and Master & Margarita (Live At Rainbow 2000 '96) bounces nicely with some twisting layers. But over 20 bucks for maybe two tracks I'd really enjoy? Hypnodisk Bandcamp
  6. Artist: Negans Title: Danse Macabre EP Label: Neogoa Date: October, 2016 1. Midori 2. Into Asylum 3. Life On Earth 4. Danse Macabre "Holy sh*t it's walking upright! Get the camera! Get the f*cking camera!" It's tough to stand out in a crowd. Mostly. We all crave acceptance even when we have something different to offer. Goa trance has reached the saturation point (some would argue that this happened years ago) where the music has become homogenized. Perhaps there's no place left to go? Well, certainly the minds at Neogoa don't believe that as evidenced from their past releases. This is also along those lines. Negans is Elie Seigneur and with his debut EP he has created something...hmmm. I dunno. Part goa of course, psytrance, and it certainly has a dark vibe. But I can't put it in a box and that terrifies the OCD gremlin inside me. She is so evil. You should see her go batsh*t crazy at a public bathroom when mouth breathing knuckle draggers don't wash their hands. So. Much. F-word. Back on topic, the ultimate test of music of course is whether it moves you and if it did and you liked the way you moved, do you want to hear it again. And I just don't know where I am with this. The sound is great (Igor Ceranic) as well as the artwork, but none of the tracks blew me away like the final two from The World Beyond did. That might be false equivalence as those last two tracks were some of the best goa trance I've ever heard. There are aspects in all four of the tracks that were quite appealing, but the sum hasn't put me over the top yet. I do know that each time I give it a listen I end up liking it more and more. So more spins it is! A nice, even number. My gremlin demands it. Must...keep it...under....control!!! Holy sh*t I hope no one has a seizure from this! Neogoa Bandcamp Ektoplazm
  7. For the fans of melodic goa trance! Created especially for the Gaëtane, the Lunar Sunrise elven queen, this set is a trip packed with melodies, fairy dust, long entrancing breaks, shout-inducing euphoric passages, blissfull sunshine and a trancy finnish. Let's flutter and dance. This set was played on the 3th of december 2016 at our party Lunar Sunrise 2: --The Rise of the Wicked Elves--, after a great live perfomance by Skarma and before the classic trance closing set by dj Anoebis. Tracklist: Crossing Mind - Life Forms Nova Fractal - Trough Our Senses Hunab Ku - Children of the stones Binary Bliss - Testosheron RA & Menkalian - 12th Hour Morphem - Hypnotone (rebuild by Cydonia) SFX - Y-Salem Union Jack - Red Herring Innerzone Feat. 8. I could really use the input of some knowledgable heads to identify any or all of these tracks, if at all possible. Can't provide any suggestions of era and to be honest I can't even be sure of the specific genre other than to say I think they're broadly psy or goa trance, nonetheless any help anybody can give would be well appreciated. [MEDIA media=soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/user-378523701/track1-copy [MEDIA media=soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/user-378523701/track2-copy [MEDIA media=soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/user-378523701/track3-copy Cheers to anybody who can take the time.
  9. Artist: Various Title: High Times Deep Psychedelic Diving Part 2 Label: ID & T Music Germany Date: 1998 *Not doing a track list cause there's too many and I need to poop.* "Omigod! Did I get any on me? Oh Jesus I think I did. AAAAAHHHHH....I can't get the taste out of my mouth!" Ugh. You definitely don't want to get any of this first disc on you. Not even Tide with Febreeze would get this out. Good news...there are a lot of styles to be found on the first disc of the compilation. Bad news...doesn't mean a damn thing when most of them are executed this poorly. Picture leaving the club with three women. Sounds like a good time until it's revealed that you hooked 2 sleestacks and Olive Oil. And yes I linked a pic of what a sleestack is. Square Dream has some nice acid 303 spark, but if I have to wade through the shallow end of the gene pool to hear it I'm not interested. If my words mean nothing, then perhaps this image will explain things better. Not only never ending running, but running up steps with stunted Italian plumber legs. So after classifying the first disc as pure coaster material I had little hope that the second one would be worth a damn. And it's a lot better. But let's be honest a frisbee with a pizza slice missing would be more useful. Oforia's Why Not On Mars? and Mutate and Survive by Somaton stick out, but Space Angel by Subcouds isn't bad either. But you already have those so this is as necessary as Grandma Myrtle's extra pinky. Seriously grandma, WTF? Discogs often overestimates the worth of some albums and compilations, but man sometimes they hit the nail right on the head. Paying more than the cost of a happy meal for this will leave a bad taste in your mouth.
  10. Artist: Various Title: Evolutive Perceptions Label: Goa Madness Records Date: November, 2015 1. Omnivox - A Part of Change 2. Space Elves - Bitter and Twisted 3. Asmik - Shimmering Onexta 4. Ohm Mind & Proxeeus - Shiva Awakens 5. Jaraluca - Illumination 6. Arcane Voice - Infinite Amount of Energy 7. Cosmic Dimension - The Dark Matter 8. Nova Fractal & E-mantra - Butterfly Effect 9. Ephedra - Winter Breaker "My little parties wouldn't be the same without you!" "Man...he's acting like a maniac. What did he take?" "Nothing, he just asked for a Fresca." I used to love to go to parties. Get smashed out of my mind and dance with any lady of the moment hoping to have a story to tell the next day. What a pig I was. Goa Madness is a label that as of yet hasn't had that many releases, but each release has been marked by quality. No exception here. This album is over a year old and deserves it's own review thread. It's melodic and entrancing with names you know and a few you don't. Some of the tracks are lush and atmospheric and most have nimble cat-quick leads that move as if on hot coals. Standouts include the floating A Part of Change by Omnivox and the thick and chunky blaster Illumination by Jaraluca. The latter comes at you in waves and the 2nd half is scorching. The Dark Matter is another take no prisoners rocker while the Nova Fractal / E-mantra collaboration was a little disappointing. Good track, but when you put two heavyweights like them together I expected more sparks. I enjoyed this compilation as it contained zero filler. Nothing groundbreaking (what is these days?) just solid goa trance. Overall another great release by this label and worth a spot in your collection. Beatspace Psyshop

  13. Artist: Various Title: Psychedelic Club Trax - Future Sounds of Goa and Trance Label: Hypnotic Date: 1997 1. Asbraasia - Whirlpool--Kaos 2. X-Plore - Xemini (Mental Mix) 3. Donut Junkie - Blue 4. Recipe - Capture 5. Aerial Servant - Glockwork 2 6. Latex Empire - Acidchild (LP Edit) 7. Amtraxx - Morphia 8. Bloque - Legoland 9. Moonstalker - Stereoids 10. Mayflyer - Signal 1 11. Hval - Teint "Man this blows." "Bullsh*t. It's got an Indian deity on it. You know it's good." Sigh. You're both right. In my search for the perfect acid compilation I realize that like goa, you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince Tantrance. So far this one has had the most oomph for which I search. The opener grabs your attention right away and Donut Junkie's Blue is a monster. Just wish it wasn't so short. Glockwork 2 has some nice 303 snap and bite, but the sound is a little uneven. Acidchild is groovy, but after that...man some slim pickings. It's like the album f*cking fell off a cliff. I mean Signal 1 is a headache inducing speed freak. And what would an acid compilation be without something completely ridiculous shoved in at the end? So when I say this one is the best I've heard so far I think it means that it's less packed with annoying, go nowhere, linear, zero creativity crap. So that's a win. Right?
  14. Artist: Various Title: Faith, Hope, and Psychedelia Label: A.R.D. Date: 1998 1. Beach Buddha - Cloudburst 2. Disco Volante - Chameleon (Movement Mix) 3. Ylem - TNKA 4. Esion God - Alice In Thunderland 5. 3000003 - Green Bishop 6. Max & Amino - Chemical Imbalances 7. Discordia - Analytic 8. Imago - Black God 9. Art of Trance - Mosquito 10. Binary Finary - Anthemic 2 "Shaggy you f*cking burnout, are you sure this is where you dropped the DAT tape?" These days I don't believe there are any undiscovered classics floating around the goa sphere. With the internet someone surely would've uncovered gold like that. Maybe Draeke from DAT Records can do it. Or the guys from Zion or Suntrip, but it's pretty rare. Still, it's a pleasant feeling when a fairly decent album comes to your attention. Since I began searching for all things goa this still happens and I'm glad it does. The info on this release says that it was a charity CD featuring the finest psychedelic trance and techno in aid of Indian street children. The finest? I'll be the judge of that. At least this disc has some artists I'm familiar with and you'll be glad to know that the goa flavor is well represented. After a very unimpressive opening track Disco Volante gets things going with a simple offering. I'm sure their filter cutoff knob fingers got a workout cause that's all this track did. But, better. Ylem enters full goa mode with a powerful and melodic track. I would love to hear this with a good re-mastering. Alice in Thunderland is thunderous, and could also do with a good mastering. Sensing a theme? Green Bishop is a clanky house beat nothing more and Chemical Imbalance is weak techno. Analytic has bass that is entirely too loud, but Black God by Imago is some pretty good goa. I wasn't a fan of the Art of Trance album Wildlife One, but this track was kinda cool. It's a bit tribal with a "mosquito-sounding" lead and it gets a little funky at the end. The last track was a bowl of meh. So several styles are represented here, but you only get credit if the tracks in those styles are worth a listen. As I mentioned the tracks sound a little muffled and could use a good mastering. Because of the above this cannot be called a "gem", but there are a couple of tunes worth hearing.
  15. Anybody know what the first song is? The one that starts at the beginning right before Doof - Let's Turn On ?
  16. Artist: Javi & SkoOma Title: Anatidaephobia EP Label: Timewarp Records Date: June, 2016 1. Save the Universe 2. Butterpsy Effect 3. 1123581321 4. Dark Side of Our Foot Ummm...is that...a, uh...I mean...seriously? That's a thing? Apparently anatidaephobia is a thing and it means a fear of being watched by ducks. All I know is Daffy is making me feel a bit uncomfortable right about now. I think I have it. No seriously, I think I have it now. I'll never look at ducks the same way. The funniest team name in goa is back at it with another ep of goa trance. There was like zero publicity for this digital ep so I'm happy to help the masses become woke. I think if you're going to have a track that deals with saving the universe (pretty big deal) it should have more gravitas. This was kind of flat. Not terrible, but I think the universe deserves better. Or maybe it doesn't. Butterpsy is ok and gets better by the end, but it just didn't grab me. The next track though...It'll grab you by the p*ssy. I don't know what the significance of the track name is, but I will tell you that it is psychedelic as f*ck. Trippy sounds and melodies that twist and turn. The last track is also hella good, powerful goa. So at the very least the final two tracks will make a welcome addition to your goa collection. Good job gentlemen. Timewarp Records
  17. Artist: Proxeeus Title: Weird Tales Label: Goa Madness Records Release date: 02.11.2016 Track list: 1: A Lone Mi Go 2: The Shoggoth In The Mirror 3: Something Lurks On Yuggoth 4: He Waits Dreaming 5: Tekeli Ii 6: What The Moon Brings 7: Let's Goof 8: The Mad Poet Of Sana'a 9: Fhtang No More Who Is Proxeeus? Well, Jerome Lesterps is his name and he is a guy from France. Pretty new to the scene but he has made quite the name for himself and that is "The dude who has some serious 303 issues." In the summer of 2015, he released his debut album called "At The Mountain Of Madness" on Ektoplazm (download it for free here: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/proxeeus-at-the-mountains-of-madness) A release that standed out and had a few of my favorite tracks like Vimanas and Chandra Knows. I, unfortunately didnt have the honor of hearing him live but I did listen to his gigs online and just by looking at him you can feel the serious vibe that he emits! I like that. Now that we've introduced ourselves, lets get back to business! The album cover has the Lovecraft motif (like the previous album as well) and I actually got introduced to Lovecraft's literature quite recently so this set the theme for me perfectly! As you people know, I'm not good with technicalities so I'll write how tracks make me feel as I'm writting this as I listen to the album for the second time. Bear with me! The story begins with A Lone Mi Go and it kicks of with quite the energy. A catchy razor sharp electric melody gets introduced with a lot of ambient noises that set the mood vey well for the rest of the album to come. Next comes The Shoggoth In The Mirror. Just like in Lovecraft's short stories, everything goes awry very quickly, and so does this album! The track has a dark and hypnotic pounding tone and is riddled with acid and the track ends with a BLAST! There is something calling to us from the depths and who are you to resist? Something Lurks On Yuggoth. The crawling chaos. . . creeping and building up as the track progresses. I thoroughly enjoyed it. A story of its own. He Waits Dreaming this track sounds so oldschool to me, which is of cource a good thing! On a few notes some sounds gave me the "NDMA - The Answer" feel, maybe Im tripping. But then again, what IS real? You have been seeing strange silhouettes and weird noises all day. The second half of the track gets pretty aggressive. Jerome definitely likes to end his tracks with a blast. With Tekeli Ii I hear how Jerome's sound matured compared to his previous album. There is a lot stuff to hear yet it's all tidy and organized. Just pay close attention at @4:55! Words are starting to fail me... What The Moon Brings... Well it brings a perfectly balanced combo of melody and acid. One of my favorite tracks! Let's Goof is pretty straight forward. A dance-floor oriented track I think. Didnt like it as much but its still great. The Mad Poet Of Sana'a has an easternish melody. He had an obsession with instruments made of glass and metal and had used them to combine them into yet weirder objects. He was known for doing strange magic involving electricity and people were as much as in awe as they were afraid of him... The album ends with Fhtang No More. A more melodic and brighter track, and a last stand against the eeriness. A hope for dawn. Jerome is a bard that sings his songs through the TB-303. His tracks are interchanging constantly. A lot of peaks and a lot of lows. A lot of thought was invested into the ambient which is then followed by a lot of entropy. A balanced chemical reaction which is then disrupted just to be returned to its calm and stable state again. Favorite tracks: 2!, 3, 4, 5!!, 6 Edit: I tried to figure out what my favorite tracks were, but I literally think that all of them are standouts except Let's Goof which isnt AS amazing as the rest. Its a wonderful album and a worthy successor! Grade 7/7 from me! You can buy it here: http://www.beatspace.com/9800/Goa+Madness+Records/PROXEEUS/Weird+Tales/detail.aspx https://goamadnessrecords.bandcamp.com/album/weird-tales
  18. Tracklist: 01 - Imbaba & 303 Trancers 02 - Hidden Paradise 03 - Cosmos In Her Eyes 04 - First Encounter 05 - Blacklight Beings 06 - Creature Of Heaven 07 - Digital Non-Sense (featuring Ephedra) 08 - Lydia Delay - After All (Imba Remix) 09 - Rising Sun For all of you who are into Goa trance but still don’t know who Imba is, I suggest to start with his netlabel UAF Records and one of his first Goa trance projects – Space Elves (alongside with Arronax, CoaGoa and SETI Project), you will slowly get the feeling about his work, ideas and style. First Encounter is his debut full-lenght album, to be released on December 9th this year on Suntrip Records. Since Nikola Petrović (yeah, that’s guy behind Imba project) from Niš is owning me a couple of beers (and even more rakijas), I was blessed to get a digital copy of his new album fresh from mastering studio in return (Balkan Goa Mafia – it’s not a joke, it’s a reality), so instead of keeping it for myself, I decided to throw out few words about this release. It comes with 9 new tracks and believe it or not – only one remix and one collaboration track. Yeah, it became some sort of bad joke to call out Imba for making so much remixes or collaboration tracks, but hey, some of the best remixes released on our label were made by him (Cellar Door, Blessings From Irij). Take a minute to think about it. As I said, new album has a lot of solo material to offer and it kicks off with Imbaba track and his 303 trancers (not sure who are thoose folks, but it seems they like acid). At the first listen you can already be assured you’ll get Imba vibe, not Imba wanna be someone else vibe. It has amazing acidic lines, perfect groove and flawless arrangement. It doesn’t try to sound ‘big’ or ‘epic’ it delivers Goa-groove and nice ride. Few melodies come and go, but it’s not your casual melodic Goa, it’s Imbabagoa. First track and I’m already liking this. Judging by the name, Hidden Paradise should be more ‘serious’ track and guess what? It is. Unlike first one, Hidden Paradise brings more melodies, a bit more of oldschool vibe and some really interesting breaks filled with nice vocals. It’s not my favorite track on the album, but if you’re into more emotive and deep Goa music, this one might do the work. However, I would love to hear the same track but with a bit more diverse and recognizable climax. Cosmos In Her Eyes was the track that I had a chance to hear even earlier and I liked the version that has been posted, but this one seems a bit improved and upgraded. Unlike the second track Cosmos In Her Eyes has slightly better climax and more interesting details throughout the track. Perhaps it’s just me, but I find this one to be one of the better Imba’s works released so far. Ahhh here we go. Aliens. Yes, Nikola loves aliens and it doesn’t suprise me why he decided to choose this track as a release title (First Encounter). It makes absolute sense because it’s one of the better tracks on this album. Fast pacing, acid lines, invoking melodies and cool speeches. I’m liking it a lot and I think it will grow on me even more. Blacklight Beings starts with an unexpected intro – I would say it fits more to some psychill or downtempo music, but after the break it picks up to more straight-forward psychedelia. Not sure why, but it’s one of the lesser Goa tracks here. Unusual kickdrums and effects starts to appear, but not in a negative way, it just doesn’t feel right as previous tracks. I’m sure it’s more an experimentation (even it still sounds like Goa music, it doesn’t deliver that much of Goa for my personal taste). With Creature Of Heaven we have totally different story, more details, more melodies, more snares and build-ups. Without any doubt this will become a true dancefloor anthem. Not sure does anyone from Suntrip tested it already on some gig, but I have feeling it’s one of thoose special tracks to be played in front of crowd. I think this sums up pretty much what you can expect from Creature Of Heaven. Ohh, here is Ephedra. And he doesn’t like digital things, just like Imba. Well, unlike the digital non-sense, this collaboration track got a lot of sense. It’s enjoyable Goa ride, spiced up with Ephedra flavour just in perfect moment to make this album even more interesting. I don’t know who Lydia Delay is, but the remix is another nice track on this album. It leans more towards classical trance sound with big and epic melodies, not chessy, but… you know, just trance. What makes the difference here is Imba’s capability to put enough of Goa ingridients to make it sound enjoyable and danceable. Not my favorite track, but it has nice groove. Last track on this album – Rising Sun isn’t a downtempo. Shocker! Yeah, I expected some downtempo or goachill for the ending, but Imba doesn’t agrees, he wants to finish this album in style so you will go through 9 minutes of really mystical, but fast-paced Goa music. Not sure why, but this track reminded me on one old Trancemaster compilation tune – it also has catchy lead melody. Nice track for the ending. So was it good? More than that. There are many reasons why I consider First Encounter more than just good. First reason is because we worked on Impossible Astronaut release for Neogoa earlier this year, and somehow I couldn’t put enough of attention towards this (newer) material. The other reason might be really nice Suntrip release schedule for this year, including a bit more anticipated releases (at least in my case) such as Ra or Morphic Resonance, so Imba wasn’t on the spotlight for me. I guess I was wrong because this album brings exactly what it’s supposed to be – Imba sound. If you’re one of thoose guys who followed him around since his first compilations on Phototropic or UAF Records, you’ll know what you can expect. It doesn’t try to be different or someone else, it’s realistic, it brings groove and it’s more or less straight-forward Goa music. I can say it’s a little bit linear on certain parts, and it wouldn’t hurt it to have a bit more variations, but it won’t bother you if you like this guys work. Regarding the artwork, I’m not the biggest fan of generic Goa artworks, but I know how much Imba likes alien imagery (as many of you), so this one makes sense. Conclusion: Even it's a bit short review under first few listens I can recommend First Encounter because it represents 7-8 years of hard-work by Nikola, not only in music making or music releasing, but also as being an important and vital part of this scene and culture. I didn't have any big expectations and I was positivley suprised by this album. It doesn't try or want to be something else, it's just honest and danceable Goa music from Balkan region - made with a lot of passion and as such, it should get a deserved attention and support. 19. Hi all, another uptempo track for free to listen to. It's something I'm not 100% sure of to have it released (I think it stands better as a "stand-alone" track), but I still wanted to supply my Soundcloud followers something new. Here ya go! Dragon Twins - Tuco, The Shyster
  20. Tracklist: 01 - A Way To Regret 02 - Monkeys (Extended Remix) 03 - Theory Of The Ghost 04 - El.Es.Di 05 - Mahabaratha (Live Version) 06 - Dream Telepathy 07 - Secret Trip 08 - Flutes The long awaited new Artha album – Dream Telepathy is almost here (at least I can enjoy it before it’s officialy released by Cronomi Records since I recieved the FLAC files thanks to Ward and kind folks at Cronomi Records, so I feel obligated to throw out few honest words about this one. It’s not a secret I’ve been a huge fan of this kind of Goa trance music for a while and Artha is one of the artists that I always play and enjoy. Even the promotion has been a little bit obscure (especially because we’re dealing here with one of the most creative and innovative Goa trance producers in last decade), all true Goa-heads who are into this so-called new breed Goa-wormhole for more than few years, are familiar with the fact that Michał Bączek is making his second full-lenght album, especially after highly respected and acclaimed back-to-back releases – Fluori Dorby and Influencing Dreams (both released on his mother-label Cronomi Records). When it comes to Artha music and sound in general, there is no universal consensus, most of the time, people who are stuck into dreamy (or how I like to call it ‘Astral Projection-influenced‘ Goa, tend to bash or more politley criticise his sound, production or mastering, but still they somehow admire the unique approach and creative input, even it’s not full-blown melodic Goa trance chaos. In simple words, it’s Artha, or to be daringly honest if I may – a totally new level of Hallucinogen, just made in wrong times where the new level of Goa generation tends to forget how much Simon contributed with his solo project. Yes, it’ might be wrong to compare such heavyweight with Artha, but as a reviewer I have to point out that music on Dream Telepathy still sounds innovative, creative and technically almost flawless (and let’s not forget the six year-long gap between this and his last album. That being said, new album ‘Dream Telepathy’ comes with 8 new tracks (excluding the reworked version of legendary Maharabathara track) and over 70 music of trippy, but very likable Goa trance music. On the first listen, sound geeks might notice that audio-image of this album is slightly different than it’s processor, with more accent on the tiny details, passages in arrangement and FX moments which Dream Telepathy has a lot to offer. A family member of Cronomi crew, Mario, or to some of you better known as M-Run put a lot of effort to make this album sound more organic and less raw / kick-friendly. Still, it has to be previewed on bigger and better PA to understand this improvement a little bit better, but it’s just one of thoose details every fan of good sounding Goa music will know how to appriciate and in my humble opinion Mario did a great job here (but, it’s also a matter of taste and I’m sure many of you will prefer the Colin‘s mastering from the first album). So, the music? It sounds like Artha, perhaps a little bit more minimal with more focus on arrangement/technical parts, but still it doesn’t suffer of being chessy in terms of melody or, God forbid ‘trying so hard’ to sound too Goa with cheap oriental melodies. I’ll tell you a secret – it’s not how Michał or Cronomi roll. However, I feel that at some point, this release feels a bit rushed out, even it has it’s moments of brilliance and uniqueness and tracks such ‘El Es Di’ or ‘Secret Trip’ are proper gems and one of the reasons why this release might end up in all major ‘best of’ selections at the end of the year – when it comes to Goa trance music in 2016. Of course, you can’t except that whole album sounds unique from start to finish, but thoose tiny (as I called it ‘rushed out’) moments won’t spoil your enjoyment and I’m sure many of you are not nit-picking as much as I do. Personally, it’s hard for me to review each track, since all of them got a lot to offer – for example the opening track A Way To Target is already much more interesting than Dubber Nubber from his previous album, the revisited Maharabathara version will make you dance and my personal highlights such as El Es Di (duh, it’s LSD), and Secret Trip will probably please your aural sensors. Also, don’t miss relaxed Flutes (with some nice native Slavic themes appearing there for a breif moment) and technoid Theory Of The Ghost, perfect for all early 2000’s Goa astronauts – thoose tracks will become a true classics in the near future, I’m sure. Conclusion: In the end, Dream Telepathy gives enough of time to rejoice and deep within yourself invoke the feeling that Goa trance music is still alive indeed, without being scared of yet another 2 or 3 years period with mostly ultra melodic Goa music. If it makes sense, Cronomi knows very well how to distract the monopoly of melodic releases on this scene by offering enough of melody on their releases but without taking the fluffy-road. Dream Telepathy will require a lot of listens and patience since it's one of thoose albums where you have to devote a lot of time, but when it sinks in, you will be grateful. Being in the making for last 6 years, Artha and Cronomi will deliver proper Artha sound with couple of new moments of excitment and joy, but make sure to avoid hype, especially after reading this review because sometimes it becomes natural and easy to feel dissapointment with some minor things, even complete picture (or in this case this release) looks and feels good. If you enjoyed the previous Artha music, I'm sure this one will become your 2016 favorite. After this release, we have to give kudos to Michał and growing Polish Goa scene (with PsySutra and JaraLuca already released a bunch of material) Poland is becoming a nice incubator for talented and creative artists with healthy Goa-trance scene. Dream Telepathy also comes with wonderful Psara's artwork desing that once again cleverly avoids Goa clichés and offers interesting visuals and M-Run's gently, but very respectable mastering. 22. Artist: Various (It's Filipe) Title: Emotions From A Beija Flor Label: Good Dance Recordings Date: August, 2016 1.Jonni Dongju - Lion Savannah 07:07 2.Mana Source - Samurai 06:28 3.Tanzaku - Tanabata 06:56 4.Gankyil - Dhyani 06:25 5.Mana Source - Weevils Fly 06:22 6.Chynacid - Zen Dimensions 07:07 7.Medusis - Profound 07:40 8.Amithaba Buddha - Psyramid 07:53 9.Mana Source - Bonsai 07:13 10.Athenaia - Secret 06:38 11.Rainbow Islands - Seventh Heaven 06:08 Now this type of deja vu I don't mind. The Filipe Santos recycled greatest hits tour continues with his latest digital release. As I mentioned before in other reviews of his work I believe him to be more machine than man, churning out so many quality goa trance tracks that it defies imagination. The music is pure uptempo, melodic, layered goa and normally he intersperses some new tracks amidst the older stuff. Not today Gertrude. All have been released before, but from top to bottom this album is a blistering affair. Not a single dull moment to be found and one of the best collections of his music to date in my opinion. He should comment less on forums and get back to doing this type of stellar work, we'd all be better for it I'll tell you. I'm especially thankful for the Psyramid track as I had forgotten how utterly bad ass it was! My other favorite is Weevils Fly, a full-throated screamer of a track. Aside from the horrible cover (and let's be honest it's been a run of those) this thing is damn near flawless. Highly recommended. Good Dance Recordings

  24. Artist: Various (It's Filipe) Title: Zamaneh Sanguine Label: Good Dance Recordings Date: August, 2016 1. Washi - Shodo 2. Amithaba Buddha - Regain Control 3. Athenaia - Orphic Mysteries 4. Gankyil - Le Labyrinthe De La Grisaia 5. Pandemonium! - Sequoia 6. Ba'al - Profane 7. Pandemonium! - Clown In A Bag 8. Lost Buddha - Spiral Rotation 9. Pandemonium! - Wishing Machine 10. Amithaba Buddha - Uncharted Planet 11. Sphere of Consciousness - Sphere of Consciousness Bipolar disorder is no joke. Mood swings that can be severe, lasting months and is oftentimes hard to diagnose. Panic attacks. Real ones, not the ones we suffer when we go someplace without wi-fi. This is apparently what Filipe was struggling with and would definitely explain his behavior over the years. Hopefully that's in the past and with his medication here's to wishing him good health and progress. We know the type of music Filipe makes and the fact that he's been this productive is a testament to his talent. With one of his latest Zamaneh Sanguine combines Chinese and Arabic to mean "Time to be Optimistic." And if you've struggled with depression or bipolar disorder then any bit of optimism you can find is cherished like water in the desert. Although that cover doesn't look very optimistic. Perhaps he's closing the door on his demons and not looking back. The trend with Filipe's music as of late has been to make compilations where most of the tracks have been released before. Before you characterize that as a cash grab, I offer you this. He has been making music for over a decade and perhaps some of the tracks didn't measure up to today's production standards. Possibly due to his condition, he would often create a label and release some music and then just as quickly it would disappear. So for those who didn't purchase or have access to the treasure trove I see this as a positive. Also some of them you can't even find. The older tracks have been re-rendered (clearing up some vocal samples) and remastered with him adding some things where he thought necessary. He chose some of his favorites to put on this album along with one track that to my knowledge only showed up on the digital Cosmic Disorder compilation from 2007. Yep, Clown In A Bag. The new tracks are exactly what you'd expect from Filipe. Brutish power and layers of melody packaged in a seamless bundle. Shodo is a blistering opener while Orphic Mysteries races with abandon. Really blissful. New Gankyil always brings a smile and this plows straight ahead with some snap and pop. Profane delivers more of the same with a playful lead. I'll be honest with you. I can't tell an Amithaba Buddha from a Lost Buddha; and I wouldn't know a the difference between a Pandemon ium! and a Chynacid. The music is super and perfect if you want to build your Filipe Santos collection. Great taste of a bunch of his projects. Good luck with further releases and also with your recovery. Good Dance Recordings (Digital only)
  25. Okay, I am entering a beehive here, I know, but what's the best track of all 100+ if not 1000+ tracks of this goa producer with various aliases? Name only one. My choice is Denaris-80.000 Pounds of Crude from Hearts of Goa album. Unfortunately no link because it isn't online anywhere. Nevertheless the vocals are the best in this track: GET DOWN!
