  4. Artist: Kuro Title: Conception Label: Wakyo Records Date: July, 2012 1. Not Enough 2. Analyzer 3. Resolution 4. Black Zombie V2 5. Blue Moon 6. Push 7. Black Star 8. Magnetic 9. Red Zombie V2 10. Runaway I don't know much about Takeichirou Kurosaki. His album Revolution back in 1996 contained a great goa track of the same name, but that's where it stopped for me. This is his 4th album and 1st in 4 years. So is he an old master returning with his take on today's goa or is he doing his own thing? If you hoped he would release a goa stormer than you shall be disappointed. But all is not lost. This is party music pure and simple. You need all the lights flashing their brilliant colors and a pumping system for this to work. I can easily see this being played and watch the masses below bounce with ecstasy. Home listening cannot do this justice. It can't, because it doesn't have the same effect. You can't contain music that is supposed to be blasted. This is dancing until you pull a hamstring music and it comes at you like a tsunami of sound. He wields subtlety like I would surgery. Total disaster and someone would end up losing a testicle. There are no twists and turns, no breaks for you to contemplate your place in the universe. He flings sonic sledgehammers and kicks you with techno boots. Soaring melodies were never his style and he unleashes his power all at once. Standouts include Not Enough with it's hard hitting acid line and Analyzer with it's discordant melody. Push blows the doors off the hinges with maximum concussive force and Magnetic and Red Zombie V2 shows that he hasn't turned his back on his goa beginnings with sick acid lines and big bass. But there is no middle ground. If he goes straight forward with power he equally moves in dare I say a boring fashion. He finds his melody and sticks with it. Black Zombie V2 and Black Star while not minimal didn't have anything new to offer. The heavily techno inspired Blue Moon is placed right in the middle of the tracklist and doesn't maintain momentum. Hell, it kinda kills it. But like a good warrior he recovers. If you like his techno acid style then this will please you. It's got power and I'm sure can whip the masses into a frenzy. It's not the most imaginative thing I have ever heard, but it does hit hard. Psyshop Beatport Mdk
  5. Artist: Flicker Light Title: Shamanic Journey EP Label: Maia Brasil Records Date: March, 2013 1 - Who Use This Drugs (128 BPM) 2 - Glandula Pineal (134 BPM) 3 - Mental Evolution (135 BPM) 4 - Shamanic Journey (133 BPM) If you mix minimal + progressive trance + darkpsy you get this. Well...not much progressive trance. They were not kidding when they said this had heavy basses. Sh*t will knock you over. While I liked the dark atmosphere and the nosebleed inducing bass you gotta give me more if you're going to assault me with your extended track times. The galloping bass and darkpsy noise gets to be monotonous and it just devolves into 39 minutes of the same thumping bass sounds rumbling in the night time. Love the cover though. 11. Spotted Peccary Music continues to expand its O3E imprint/sub-label with the release of ONE, the full-length album debut from DeeperNET. Blending extreme influences from completely opposite ends of the electronic music spectrum such as Goa, Downtempo, EDM, and Psybient, the album offers well over an hour’s worth of music across eight tracks that fuse more aggressive electronic tones and percussion with the delicate atmospherics of ambient. Intricate rhythms, constantly evolving sequences, and ‘wall of sound’ style electronics propel the listener through a deeper network of cosmic pulses and fluid soundscapes. Evocative of the rainy forests of the Pacific Northwest he calls home, his music wanders through morning, full on, forest, and chilled out sounds. Inspired by adventures he's embarked on in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California and Turkey, Amiranu's songs are at times transcendent and spiritual, at others, dark and twisted (and occasionally strange and silly), and always, his music captures the many faces of the psychedelic experience. 13. Artist: Various Title: The King of Nothing Label: Neurotrance Records Date: April, 2011 01 - Fuzzonaut - Flashback (145 BPM) 02 - Oberon - Loosing Control (142 BPM) 03 - N.O.X.Y. - Quick Turn (145 BPM) 04 - Rigel - Voltage Controlled Freak (145 BPM) 05 - Le Guide - Mantrance (146 BPM) 06 - Deep South - Gaia Power (148 BPM) 07 - Erofex - The End (147 BPM) 08 - Wizack Twizack - Razors And Ice Cream (System Sequence Remix) (150 BPM) 09 - Organikka - Dreams (148 BPM) 10 - H1N1 - We Have All Power (147 BPM) 11 - Malice In Wonderland & Electrypnose - Los Viajeros (143 BPM) 12 - Clean Trip - Wrong Serenade (143 BPM) 13 - Oblivion vs Psoma - Psychopsomatics (145 BPM) 14 - Wizack Twizack - Pumpen (146 BPM) 15 - Hanuman - Darkness In My Room (147 BPM) 16 - Erofex & Oxezy - Power History (150 BPM) 17 - Box Of Evil - Against The Evil (152 BPM) 18 - Dark Fox - Better Stronger Faster (150 BPM) 19 - Paranoiac - Just A Tiny Taste (148 BPM) 20 - Plaxius - Indigo Patrol (183 BPM) Wow this is a big one. It's a lot to digest so I'll just try and throw some bullet points at you. This is a dark themed compilation that is free at Ektoplazm. Such a giver that guy. In the beginning while still dark it's more accessible night time full-on. As you get deeper into this it becomes more heavy. Darker. Ending with what can only be described as darkpsy composed while riding a speeding bullet. Flashback sounded crystal clear with great production and who the hell doesn't want more Mario Brothers? Loosing Control didn't, it was steady and monotonous. Quick Turn isn't very quick at almost 10 minutes and while I like it's gurgling style it needs more evolution. Voltage Controlled Freak is mediocre full-on. Mantrance is a really stupid name for this boring track. There is nothing "man" about it unless it's wearing a dirty wife beater while sleeping on the couch watching Beavis and Butthead amidst half empty pizza boxes. Gaia Power really descended into the moaning of a female. And not the good kind. The End doesn't get here fast enough. Filler. Razors & Ice Cream (System Sequence mix)- The original was great from his 2nd album Dead End and this is a worthy remix. Full of power and acid. Dreams- "I think it's become clear that our sinful ways have damaged the boundary between the living and the dead." If you're going do dream, do it big I say. Do you think he went Gameboy first? Amateur. This hits the twilight button with lots of lasers. You like lasers. We Have all the Power is more proper twilight psytrance with acid flying all over the place and bundles of high energy. One of the best here marred only by that painful buildup near the end. Los Viajeros leans a little on the minimal side, but it eventually wakes up and becomes quite psychedelic. Wrong Serenade- "Give her a little serenade, make her feel at home." You wanna make her feel at home ask her what's for dinner. Psychopsomatics- the people behind this one spent too much time trying to manually tune into a radio station. Meh. Pumpen by Mr. Swedish Nightmare Tommy Axelsson keeps it dark with lots of echoing sounds and effects. Good one. Darkness in my room is really dark. If hell had a soundtrack it might sound like this. Power History is comprised of rumbly basses and Artifakt like abrasive sounds. Liked the funky breakbeat. Against the Evil by Box of Evil...what do you think it's gonna sound like? Surprise! It wasn't as evil as I thought it would be. More twilight in style with too many stops and starts. There's still screaming samples in it if you like that sort of thing. Better Stronger Faster- "We have the technology..." Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Not bad darkpsy track at all. Just a Tiny Taste is a spooky and eerie darkpsy-esque track with some haunting strings. Just a small taste of what it would be like to get lost in an insane asylum after the inmates somehow got out. Indigo Patrol is an exercise in speed. This is what someone on cocaine must feel like after 5 espressos. With a rocket surgically placed in his rectum. Super fast with sounds coming at you from all sides. By the time it was over I needed a cool down. Interesting to listen to, but not my cup of tea. I didn't think this was so great. Of course darkpsy ain't exactly my thing. All the comments are overwhelmingly positive, so those posting seem to follow the "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" mantra. Aren't you lucky I don't subscribe to that point of view. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  14. Artist: Various Title: The Persistence of Memory Label: Blue Hour Sounds Date: October, 2012 1. Theory Of Big Bang - ONCE UPON A TIME PLAY 2. Post 100 (Ianuaria rmx) - HUX FLUX 3. Crystallised - GAIANA 4. Hypnotic Quality - GIDO AND AVARA 5. Jack The Tripper - AJJA VS FLOOTING GROOVES 6. Outbound - ANTISPIN 7. Hippy Hoop - MARK DAY 8. Motoremoto - PEYO 9. Movements - JARAMOGI AND NAIMA 10. Expecto Patronum - FLOOTING GROOVES When you say Blue Hour Sounds to me I think of two things. The multi-colored EP's and the exceptional Ianuaria Beware of the Fish album. This Italian label specializes in very detailed stuff with the psychedelic factor turned up to 11. So to see them with a new release I think it's fair to say that my expectations were pretty high. Mastered by Braincell (a guy who knows a thing or two about great psytrance) this album is one of storytelling, but without lots of twists and turns. Hypnotic and hallucinogenic, they supply pumping rhythms as the backbone and allow melodies to slither in amidst healthy effects and delay. For the most part it's pretty psychedelic, but I felt it could've benefited from a bit more detail as there were some thin stretches in the tracks. Sometimes it seemed as if it lacked power or wasn't very dynamic. When you set the bar high it's difficult to maintain that level of quality. That said, there are portions where this is extraordinarily deep and involving. Don't know how that last track made the cut though as it didn't fit with the theme of the album. So it's a good comp if not a little disappointing. Not great, but good. GoaStore Beatspace Psyshop Mdk

  16. Xnorophis - Eyes Album: Eyes Artist: Xnorophis Genre: Tribal, Progressive Size: 185MB License: CC Price: Free and Donations Track List: 01 - Multi-Coloured Angles 02 - Jungle Paradise 03 - Seeds 04 - Step Inside 05 - Organic Saints 06 - Fabel Keepers 07 - Violet Tower 08 - Ganga Sparkle 09 - Oblong Roads 10 - Torpedo 11 - Cilandra's Test Take a seat inside an intergalactic time machine and get ready to be taken back in time in this percussion driven tribal elemental. Starting with a very minimal tone, the simplistic hand-crafted loops are placed neatly together side by side to form an African-like soundscape. Interesting enough, the composition takes place in Canada, yet nothing in this piece reminds me of Canadian styles. As neat as all this may sound, the minimal style in the beginning is, well, very minimal. The first six songs progress with small percussion and bass loops switching off and on rather than melody, layering synths, or pads carrying layers to create a musical body. The first half of the album should be left out, in my opinion, because each song is more of a backbone to a bigger, broader idea. There is no meat to them, no intricacy, no unexpected visions, and they just are not all that interesting. There is a lot of room left to grow and a lot more expected. Don’t let that fool you from giving this album a try, however. At track 7, Violet Tower gives us that body we have been craving. Vocals are added, pads begin to carry the vision further into broader horizons, and arping melodies similar to the Goa roots of Psytrance are brought forth to put together a final frontier of passion the artist begs to express. A true tribal experience, however, should let me close my eyes and imagine an organic landscape full of sun and open fields. I want to imagine wonderfully painted patterns on the faces of distant cultures, people dancing around large bon fires as the smoke climbs towards the white dotted sky, the moon screaming a blanket of twinkling blue light into the hearts of the earth, and I want it to sound amazing. This album doesn’t do that, but the last few tracks certainly get closer to that accomplishment of pure tribal engulfment. The tracks Violet Tower, Oblong Roads, Ganga Sparkle, and Torpedo are the definitions of this album. They combine the ideas and techniques from every other track and turn a small idea in a better experience. The tippety tappety of the small drums, the Goa bass line, the progressive style, the hint of vocals, and an additional trance melody with more layers of instruments make these tracks great. To the artist, I think if you were to simply take out everything else and leave these in, it would make the album better. Quality over quantity my friend. My advice would be to take a look at these creations and form your future projects based on what you have learned from them. Try to examine different drum lines, instrument programming, and tribal atmospheres to take advantage of our minds and run them through an organic soundscape. Right now, a large portion of the album is generic. Focus on expansiveness, yearning to create a land that only you know into pure sound where we can escape and relax. Keep it up man!! If you want some inspiration, listen to the Steve Roach album “Strata”. The first few tracks are largely tribal ambient, taking your percussion inspirations you love and adding astounding atmospheric explosions of euphoria. I can see you taking a faster pace than this without the ambient style, adding intricacy to your work. 7/10 Download here on Ektoplazm (MP3, FLAC, WAV) - Review by FatKidWitaJetPak (Nick Sumbles) - Special Thank to Ektoplazm for the download bandwidth.

Flying objects always reach the ground - SNEILA 6. Forest - GOASIA 7. Guetto - GOASIA 8. Paranoid - GOASIA 9. The dreamers guide - SNEILA Yeah, I went old school on you. Wait a minute...that's new school. Old new school. Yeah, I took you to some kind of unfunded learning institution that has old textbooks and one computer in the teacher's lounge running AOL on dial up. Kagdila Records is a USA label and I seem to remember some discussion where artists were unhappy with Mr. Shu-ki Golan. Probably didn't pay them. Great, more reasons to hate the US. Anyway this was an early new school psytrance / goa trance compilation that for me doesn't get started until track number five. Oh there are four tracks before it, but like cold pizza if there's nothing else around I'll eat it. Just not my first choice. Or second. Hmmm....doesn't even rank in my top ten. So that leaves 5 tracks by two projects. Might as well be a Sneila / Goasia EP. Hardly worth paying for a compilation, but I'm a completionist so I did. Flying Objects seemed like a revelation almost a decade ago with it's rolling synthline and at over 10 minutes you're in the clouds for a long time. Forest is pretty good with some quality detail if you listen. I just can't stomach that shanai sounding lead. Moving on to Ghetto it's full of sounds that you wouldn't hear on albums today, but it's diversity makes it a treat. The last Goasia track Paranoid is darker with an eerie atmosphere. The final Sneila track is a hands down growler of a beast. Dark and bubbly with undulating goa fire! So there you go. Not a classic by any means, but it's an early arrow in the quiver of the blossoming new school movement. Psyshop Beatspace Juno Download Beatport Mdk

  22. CeZZers – Expanded Horizons Album: Expanded Horizons Artist: CeZZers Genre: Progressive Size: 68MB License: CC Price: Free and Donations Track List: 01 - Expanded Mind Ride 02 - Content Of Mind 03 - Expanded Horizons 04 - Free Ride “With the click of a mouse, a brilliant idea can circle the globe in seconds… expanding horizons” A very relaxing, chill atmospheric album that always offers a great intro meant to bring good vibes into any listeners heart. Nice and steady BPMs surround the buildup at every second, always making me feel smooth and happy. The psydub bass influences are really catchy and addicting attitude. There are a few things I would like to see changed, however. The first track seems to stop too soon. It would be nice to hear a bit more, developing that sweet bass line into something totally different while keeping the original icy flow. I really like how the second track offers this different pace, doubling up the bass and changing the vibe while keeping the vision of the album. This may be coming from someone who is use to hearing tracks that are longer than five minutes, but many of we psy fans enjoy a track that keeps a particular catchiness and engulfness for a time longer than five minutes. Still, it adds great replay ability to it, which is a theory commonly practiced by many producers. Keep doing what your doing. Anyway, continuing with the second track, i was very surprised when it jumped into a middle-eastern style… then I read you are from Israel and it made a bit more since haha. I loved it. You kept rocking that sweet double bass against a backbone of neat voices, followed by an awesome popping synth to carry on the idea. Simply done with a few wonderful touches. Well done! Something new is offered each track, and I really enjoy the guitars and more complicated production on the third one. A great addition to anyones Downtempo / Progressive collection. I can definitely see myself playing this on the dance floor to tone down things a bit. Its always good to take a break from faster music. Did you purposely make each track a bit more complicated than the last, adding length in the process? Is that why this album is called “Expanded Horizons,” because it adds more and more as the album progresses? If so, it is something I noticed. It starts out fairly minimal, then goes onto add layer after layer of juicy bass and danceable note plucks. The great thing is, it never gets too overpowering! Keep it up guys, explore the universe of sound and introduce us to it. You are pioneers, searching for land unknown in the infinite universe that is vibrations. From marketing experiences, I recommend using album art that is a bit more unique. We all have seen fields of green with tiny paths on it. There is a lot of music on here, and psychologically we automatically are looking either for genre names or, more commonly, really awesome looking album art. If you notice, some of the highest downloaded albums on here have cool album art. Judging the book by the cover is one thing, but album art should not only look cool but express your intentions and visions. Try to find someone who can hand draw the best thought that comes to mind when listening to this album. For me, it would be a monk sitting on top of a very large mountain while staring into the eyes of a caterpillar. Something like that. Just a littler offer of feedback. Great album guys. 9/10 Download here on Ektoplazm (MP3, FLAC, WAV) - Review by FatKidWitaJetPak (Nick Sumbles) - Special Thank to Ektoplazm for the download bandwidth.
