JP - Power Mesh No. Just...no. This release isn't so terrible that I can start making coaster or frisbee jokes, but it may be one of the most vanilla full-on releases I've heard in a while. Not a single track distinguishes itself and that's rare. Usually even the craptacular compilations hitch their wagon to one outstanding track. It has all the stops and starts, build ups, and triplets that you expect any mid 2000's release to have without being mind-numbingly terrible. But this...nothing. Bland music that could've come in a brown paper bag. It's not at Psyshop, Beatspace, Beatport, or Juno. Public service I suppose.

Another Civilization 8. Mystical Vision 9. Space Pirates 10. Glowing Freedom Seriously. The debut album of one Adomas Juozapavicius from Lithuania was an album I was looking forward to. Unfortunately after multiple listens I came away a wee bit disappointed. Look nobody would like to see Blue Hour Sounds back on top more than me, but my goodness this sounds like one long track. Where's the dynamism and variety? The formula seems to be punchy bass preset which always takes center stage, gurgling sounds (which are great), and keep the melody on the light side. Sacred Substance Mechanizm gave me hope as it seemed to be heavily layered and acidic, but that track was followed up by droning full-on filler. I miss the days of Beware of the Fish by Ianuauria which was a juicy, forest surprise that was constantly shifting focus. This resembles that album with the darkness and acid, but without the same detail. I don't want you to think I don't like it because enjoyable moments are there. These two artists had really good solo careers before they decided to team up and hands down the best album of the three this duo has done in my opinion. They came close several times after their debut with some decent tracks, but this is full-on with that early 2000's edge that still holds my attention. It's hard charging and varied with tracks sounding like Braincell in his hey day. There is a futuristic component and a dark, acidic vibe that still holds up.

Hey all, I've been producing Industrial music for the last 10 or so years and have released on some known labels in that genre so I like to think that I am ok at music, but I think the standards are lower in that genre. Anyway, long story short I have been going back to my "roots" in psy/goa and that's all I want to write these days. My first love is goa, but I can't ever stick to writing one style so my stuff is a mix of the things I like from various genres which include Goa, Prog, Darkpsy, Tribal, and Industrial. I have no idea if this stuff fits into a particular style or even sounds good to psy people. Thematically these songs draw from ancient egyptian mythology and alchemy. It's the very foundation on which you build your character and what you go on to accomplish in life. K.O.B. is Jannis Tzikas and the alternate personality if you will of his more widely known project Filteria. While the latter is defined by melodies and is pure goa music through and through the former is a mash of styles relying heavily on the psychedelic aspect. This album is more concerned with driving rhythms and allowing the music to evolve. Sometimes building, sometimes deconstructing. It's robotic (not meant in a negative way), futuristic, and oftentimes the sound choices can sound metallic and harsh. But there is no mistaking who is behind this project as his goa soul shines through quite clearly. And sometimes angrily (which I like). The title and artwork accurately describe what is located within, a combination of forest and goa all tucked neatly under an umbrella of psychedelic psytrance. While not my favorite release from the vaunted Suntrip Records it continues to prove that they are not all sunshine and rainbows and haven't forgotten that psytrance indeed needs to remain psychedelic. At first, they opened a tiny improvised studio which hosted young artists such as Moshe Keinan, Avi Shmailov, Erez Eisen, Amit Duvdevani, Udi Sternberg and many others Those, which our paths have crossed and never parted, are the young men who dared to dream the future of psy-trance and were able to make it come true. And so it was, the formerly unknown studio "HOMmega Productions" became a leading international label, firmly implanting its roots in the past, breathing the present and continuously looking ahead into the future. Compiled and mastered by Xatrik this had all the pieces to be something special yet failed to deliver the goods. Find the Button and Press It was a great opener from the wizard of weird Electrypnose and Event Horizon is eerie and constantly changing, but the rest of the tracks didn't achieve their full potential. Each track seemed to take their foot off the accelerator and never reached that level of thumping madness. The Panayota track had several abysmal buildups (so painful) and also tried to cram every Family Guy sample into it's otherwise decent track. Sigh, I believe they left some ideas on the table.
