bumping this topic Robin Hood 7/10 Very well made. Less CGI, more real sets etc. That's good. But other than that there wasn't anything special about it IMO. In fact it seemd a little uninspired. Russel Crowe doing his standard thing. Not as good as Gladiator. The Magnificent Seven 8/10 Enjoyable western despite some silly acting. Not as good as Seven Samurai.
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTrM-jC0rzU planetary unfolding (1981) it cannot be beaten, the greatest ending to any album ever
  5. Great movie indeed. For me it was all about the main character. He is not some superficial bad guy. Sure, he is a very dislikeable person by normal moral standards, but quite often I did sympathize with him, more or less. That is what the movie was about for me... It's a moral dilemma. Do I really hate almost everything about the main character, like maybe I should... or do I secretly relate to parts of his character and enjoy some of the bad things he did... I think most people do, more than they want to admit.
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNFVLqgtEfc from 3:00 to 6:00, especially when one cool part flows into the next at around 4:15, that's one of the most brilliant moments I've heard in goatrance the melodies are quite basic actually, but it's the way it is excecuted
  7. it's impossible to play, you'd need like 8 hands and it's simply too fast, it was made for player piano:
  8. post absolutely insane music in whatever 'genre' here's my contender: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6utk2nFjpXA Marc-Andre Hamelin, a crazy piano virtuoso, actually wrote this, note for note... now that is INSANE p.s. Chuck Norris plays this without hands
  9. Enigma - Principles of Lust still quite brilliant imo, haha

    The Road.

it's a good movie, very good at some points, also some terrifying scenes that really worked for me however, it got bad towards the end and the ending itself was so fundamentally wrong (not gonna explain why because of spoilers) overall it's still very much worth it
  11. The 'cantina scene' from Star Wars (where they meet Han Solo) is so cool and funny. It is absolute cult. The idea of a bar where all kinds of weird aliens meet and discuss shady deals etc.. it's simply the coolest setting imaginable. Also love the alien band with their funny tunes (by John Williams). I cannot imagine anything cooler than being there and hanging out with these twisted aliens (even though they are dangerous). I miss stuff like that in newer Sci-Fi movies. You can't create such an atmosphere with only shiny computer graphics. I hope someday they will make a big sci fi movie again with a universe as rich as star wars, less CGI and more real sets, puppets and masks.
  12. Rachmaninoff - Elegie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKpUjssa3v8 fuuuck, that was just amazing..... a legend playing his own work, recorded in 1928 on something called a piano roll, replicated and enhanced with modern technology

  14. the final track of Dark Side of the Moog IX by Namlook & Schulze http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M-oAc9N6AU&fmt=18 turns into something quite unexpected
  15. Part 3 has both the best and worst moments of the prequels, but overall is much better IMO than part 1 and part 2. Part 2 does have cool CGI stuff and battles. "Anakin, you're breaking my hart!" The originals are obviously far too great to compare.
  16. same piece performed by me on digital piano: http://www.box.net/shared/cr6opxd55a inferior in sound and music of course, but I hope to play it on a real grand piano sometime
  17. the opening music of the first 3 minutes of this video part of a Schubert piano sonata played by Richter
  18. Steve Roach, Byron Metcalf, Dashmesh Khalsa - Dream Tracker listened in bed last night, awesome as I expected deep rumbling tribal rhythms and didgeridoo sounds with soundscapes on top of it create a dense, hypnotic atmosphere for a total mind-trip Thunder Walk is one of the coolest tribal tracks I've heard sounds bloody fantastic more trippy music than psy will ever get
  19. Forget the rest and just listen to more Chopin.
  20. If it's beautiful what more reason do you need?
