  1. Cool. I was thinking of a structure that looks similar to this on the outside, but then so huge that it's impossible to imagine. The interior isn't a dense deck after deck structure, but instead will have a very open structure so you actually need little ships or transportation tubes to go from one part of the station to another. The different parts of the station almost seem like floating islands, but they're all connected somehow... like a spider web. There will be platforms where you can look all around you and can't even see that you're in an enclosed structure because the outer shell is beyond the horizon.
  2. Gonna have to download something. The only thing that's on TV here these days is comedy and A GAZILLION DIFFERENT crime/cop/law series. What the hell is it with all those crime series?!! Like that is the only interesting subject for a TV series, jeeezzz
  3. My dream sci-fi movie would take place in a huge, and I mean huuuge space station. A city in space with a couple of million inhabitants: all kinds of different cultures, aliens, cyborgs and robots. Big spaceships and docking bays all around the exterior of the station. It's a central meeting place and trading spot for an entire galaxy, teeming with activity. It got to have that dark and misty atmosphere like blade runner. It should definately not be bright colored and abstract. It must look organic, almost like the entire station is alive. When you watch the movie you will totally feel a part of it. At some points you'll see windows in the background with a view on the stars, or have a wide view of the interior of the space station so you can marvel at the enormity and complexity of the structure... there will be all sorts of tubes that connect the different parts of the station and little ships flying around. The story will start somewhere in a bar in the dangerous outskirts of the station, where the main character, a nobody, overhears a couple of twisted looking aliens plotting some evil plan...
  4. Maybe. I don't care at the moment, because I want them to release part II of the game damnit!! Warcraft movie is coming.

    Avatar (2009)

This didn't really stick with me, like say, LOTR. This movie is about the imagery and not much else.

I've seen some fragments and I don't want to see it. Star Trek is dead. The glory days of the TNG/DS9/VOY era are over. RIP my favorite series / sci-fi franchise.
  7. A good movie based on a video game. I know there's a Castlevania movie coming up and I have these ideas of how that could be an awesome dark, twisted, evil and atmospheric movie, but you just know they will rape it and turn it into a popcorn cheese fest like Transformers. Transformers was such an opportunity to make an ultra cool dark cyberpunk scifi movie, but look what they did to it... jesus, they couldn't even get the robots right with that disgusting shiny look. Why can't they use such cool franchises to make something serious for once!
  8. Easy. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
  9. nah just exaggerating, I like some of it... but for me some of the above solos lack any kind of subtlety...it's like a continuous loud stream of notes that doesn't do much to me the guy on the accoustic is great
  10. Mark Knopfler + 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-rFS8IVkmc&fmt=18 His playing is great music, the rest just plays random whiney guitar solos. End of topic.
  11. Top 10 ambient, chill and stuff. I tried to look at albums as a whole to prevent myself from choosing an album just because I like one or two tracks very much. 1. Steve Roach - Mystic Chords & Sacred Spaces 2. Steve Roach & Vir Unis - Blood Machine 3. Pete Namlook & Klaus Schulze - Dark Side of the Moog IX 4. Steve Roach - Fever Dreams 2 5. Paul Ellis - The Sacred Ordinary 6. Ulrich Schnauss - A Strangely Isolated Place 7. Symphonic Chronicles - Unreleased .. ? 8. Raison D'etre - The Stains of the Embodied Sacrifice 9. Vir Unis - Pulse N Atmo 10. Redshift - Faultline (live) I'll have to think about a top 10 for heavier electronic with beats and stuff.
  12. Just from watching about 2,5 episodes from the start of this series I already knew it was going to turn out like this. Now I know I didn't miss anything. The X-Files became completely unsatisfying because of those exact reasons. They tried too hard to build mystery upon mystery and meanwhile it became a mess, needlessly complicated and finally totally unconvincing.
  13. obviously you know what you're talking about I suggest you stick to psychill indeed
  14. True. Those who like the amazing Michael Stearns - Planetary Unfolding, check out the artist Telomere (not as great but still nice). It's too bad Michael Stearns doesn't release much. He's more into soundtracks for documentaries and stuff. But I read that he'll be releasing music that was made for planetariums next year, so there could finally be more space music from him coming up. He's also going to do the soundtrack for the follow up of Baraka.
  15. While a lot of Steve Roach music sounds 'spacy' and some of his tracks are the perfect 'floating through the stars' music, I don't think that much of his music is actually about space. There are often more earthly themes... it's spiritual, about the deeper meaning of life, being close to nature, in touch with our ancestors and stuff like that... or purely for meditation. Even the Magnificent Void is not necessarily about space, but it's definately very suitable for it.
  16. 2009 recommendations: Raison d'Etre - The Stains of the Embodied Sacrifice Inade - The Incarnation Of The Solar Architects Lustmord - The Dark Places of the Earth (lol @ album names)
  17. Here's the most epic one of them all. It only works one time for me, then I can't stand it anymore for a long time. Signum - Second Wave
  18. it's not new but this one is awesome imo Saucerman - Aquarius (DJ Atmospherik Remix)
  19. I guess there are a few categories: - Electronic music that uses pre-sampled orchestral/classical sounds There's of course lots of stuff that does this. But the only purely electronic album I know, that truly feels like a grand classical, melodic composition, is the new age album Constance Demby - Novus Magnificat from the mid 80s. It uses sampled sounds of classical instruments + synth sounds/fx. - Electronic music combined with live recordings of orchestral elements. Or the other way around: Real orchestral music with some electronic elements. Here I can only think of lots of movie soundtracks and maybe some game soundtracks. And one Klaus Schulze album: X, second disc. And possibly a Vangelis album that isn't a soundtrack. - Purely electronic/synth arrangements of existing classical music. Wendy Carlos.
  20. OMG I can't wait for the new Raison D'etre!
  21. Nice, I think I actually remember that one from the movie. Also I just have to include this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSIdYFL9a0U&fmt=18 P.S. When the famous theme returns for the second time around, that is the ringtone on my cellphone. Geek alert!
  22. Now let's wipe that sentiment of the previous one away with: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSqw9Yn_RMQ
  23. I liked that. But I like this one even more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2s0-wbXC3pQ
  24. Another familiar classic epic movie theme: Khachaturian - Adagio from Spartacus http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZLMKkEGFRo
