  1. why in the world would u ever want to mess with your appearance if you're good looking in the first place think the skin disease thing was true? even so, still messed up to change his face like that... turned into a freak, but still a very musical one Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough :posford: :posford:
  2. Compared to his funky stuff with the Jackson Five and his killer pop tunes on Off The Wall and Thriller, today's pop and RnB music is PURE SHITE with its worthless melodies, overdone production and awful autotune effect on vocals. RIP for one of the most talented pop musicians ever. Rock on wacko! :clapping:
  3. how 'bout some spacy and moving images http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMVMB9Ha6jo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5Y8R5nKxHQ (although the music deserves to be listened in better quality)
  4. Scriabin - Etude Op. 2 No. 1
  5. Brian Eno - The Lost Day Brian Eno & Harold Budd - First Light
  6. for ambient I second Ambient 4: On land & Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks and also recommend Ambient 2: The Plateaux of Mirror Ambient 4: On Land is ambient in its purest form, by his own definition you shouldn't expect 'music' here, it's more like purely atmospheric sound there are no real melodies and the pieces never go anywhere... they seem repetitive, but actually not a moment is ever quite the same... and that's what makes it fascinating... also the warm, organic sounds are pleasant to listen to and make you wonder how they were made each track is a little piece of art that captures the atmosphere of a certain location... where and what that place is, is up to your imagination... the last track is one of my favorite ambient pieces ever, there's nothing else like it and the atmosphere is so unique, desolate and beautiful the other two albums I mentioned are still very much ambient, but also have melodic touches
  7. google picture search i used 'ice world' and immediately got a bunch of cool pics http://images.google.nl/images?client=fire...sa=N&tab=wi
  8. For once he wasn't even in the list. I thought this was about electronic music. The thought that some of my favorite electronic pioneers like tangerine dream and vangelis have to share a topic with rap music was just too much for me...
  9. congrats, the Scooter equivalent of psy
  10. I removed my recommendations because I don't want them to be in this topic anymore.
  11. entertaining and fairly original 7,5/10
  12. I disagree Klaus Schulze - Mirage is more like a barren alien iceworld. Something like this
  13. Dunno I haven't seen Green Mile yet. Funny I went to IMDB and it's Morgan Freeman's birthday (72). Fine actor. Shawshank is a classic of course.
  14. He makes so much different music it can't be classified under one or two genres. There's something for everyone. Some of his stuff is indeed not much more than wallpaper ambient, while other music is (much) more melodic and/or rhythmic. It also depends who he collaborates with. He can play a nice jazz guitar too. Surely one of the most versatile and diverse artists in electronic music. Speaking of the journey http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSxX4xxBclM :clapping:
  15. So would I. I think some of us dream of having their own retreat like that... a studio stacked with synths and equipment, in a nice setting and with plenty of time to spend in complete solitude, just making sounds and music. How cool is that. This reminds me of Steve Roach, who has his studio somewhere in the Arizona desert, so he is close to nature and can draw inspiration from it. These guys practically live for (and off) ambient(ish) music. They are living their dream.
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cv3iD86hSpc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jd3OVdqzT8M some stuff about his inspiration from nature, the definition of ambient, the different music he makes, the tools he uses etc. it's quite interesting

    Jedi or Trekkie?

both of you obviously didn't give DS9 a proper chance, pitty... because you're missing out on the best thing Star Trek
  18. bedroom laptop artists using cracked fruityloops and an arsenal of premade samples to make more shpongle copies
  19. Had not heard this one in a long time and I was blown away by it. The music is simple and elegant in structure, yet it has great depth... not in the last place because of the beautiful, warm, fat, analog sounds. A lot of chill music sounds digital, thin and plastic in comparison. The tracks flow perfect from one to another. The final part (including the title track) is almost like some sort of religious climax. An absolutely gorgeous album. :clapping:
  20. I like only bits of what I heard...indeed very polished, but often lacking soul.
