    Trailers

Avatar seems like a total CGI fest. I think the blue aliens look kinda lame.
  2. There are some cool older tunes from Laughing Buddha but I found this a painfully boring uninspired track.
  3. A great classic movie theme is from some old movie I never watched called 'Dangerous Moonlight'(1941). It's quite famous, called the 'Warsaw Concerto': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3H8V4Fzrcr0&fmt=18 The story behind it is that Rachmaninov didn't want his music to be used in the movie so another composer made something that is similar to his piano concertos (and easier to listen to).
  4. Vangelis - Antarctica (documentary). Best soundtrack he did after Blade Runner. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZvuS8q7CbE&fmt=18 Another one that's decent and not so well known is 'The Bounty' (1984). It's still with moody synths as opposed to the orchestral stuff he did later. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egAJxCk5d_Q&fmt=18
  5. John Williams is always good, but this is my favorite by him, together with Star Wars. It's just glorious. track 1-3: track 4:
  6. Dark ambient is so nice to listen to in bed with headphones. Especially if it's new and you don't know what to expect. Here are some more total mind benders that will take you down there and beyond: Herbst9 - From a dark chasm below Troum & Yen pox - Mnemonic induction Steve Roach & Vidna Obmana - Well of Souls disc 2
  7. Ennio Morricone -> fantastic of course.. also the GBU. Other favorites: Very original choices but still: John Williams: Star Wars, ET, Jurassic Park, Schindler's list Gladiator, LOTR Star Trek http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSIdYFL9a0U Mononoke Hime http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_pDRL0EVgo Edward Scissorhands
  8. Agreed. Not 'by far', but it is my favorite as well. For its great mood and variation and because it fits the movie so well. Favorite tracks: memories of green, rachel's song (not in movie), blade runner end titles, but the rest is good too. Also check out the 'Blade Runner trilogy', it's quite nice (disc 1 : original blade runner album, disc 2: previously unreleased blade runner(esque) music, disc 3: new stuff that is not so good). Here's a piece from it that I posted: http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/56382-old-vangelis-track/
  9. Steve Roach - Mystic Chords & Sacred Spaces You don't need anything else for a while. Just keep listening and its beauty will reveal itself. Beatless ambient doesn't get any better, period.
  10. New Raison D'Etre album coming up. Check out teaser: http://raisondetre.coldmeat.se/ I am absolutely thrilled by this. It sounds bloody awesome!! Could be one of those albums where everything an artist has previously worked on falls together and reaches a climax.
  11. Just like Eminem I would just like to punch this guy in the face repeatedly.
  12. True Lies is so ridiculous and funny. Damn cool movie. And that wife with her dorky face but super hot body was a nice surprise. But my favorite is, of course, PREDATOR.
  13. Italo Disco. I really liked it for a while. Like a few weeks. Less singing, more fat synth chords.
  14. Second Reality is fucking epic. Most awesome thing I ever saw and heard on a PC when I was like 13 years old. Never again did something on a computer make that big of an impression on me. Well this.. and when I first saw Doom.

    Sci-Fi Movies

I have vague memories of a fairly recent scifi movie. I started out ok but then it got bad. About some guy and girl who escaped from a futuristic underground city where nobody was allowed to have emotions? Something like that. Hmm no it's not Equilibrium, I'm mixing things up. edit: Ah it's 'The Island'. Pretty much forgettable so it seems.

    Sci-Fi Movies

Think it's a little early for that... it's in cinemas in december.
  19. The way I see it, Tarantino's movies like these are funny, exaggerated, sometimes highly enjoyable, but ultimately failed attempts to reach the total coolness of Sergio Leone and Clint Eastwood. He tries too hard. With so much focus on style that the actual content and dialog suffers from it.
  20. Somewhat pretty, yes. Hot, no.

    Sci-Fi Movies

Nobody likes Star Trek movies? I think most of 'm aren't that good, although still fun to watch. But First Contact was different. Finally, they did it right with this one. It has everything that makes Star Trek so enjoyable, the fun, drama, action, humor.. and the Borg. I'm a sucker for the series (that is, only TNG/DS9/VOY) so maybe that's why I like it. It had some very memorable scenes and cool moments... with Picard, Data, Worf and Borg Queen as the best of the bunch. I totally love this movie. THE LINE MUST BE DRAWN HERE!!! ASSIMILATE THIS!! P.S. I haven't seen the new one yet
  22. part 1 for the action the rest I didn't care much for

  24. some interesting lesser known artists: Mathias Grassow, check out: Himavat ... frigging amazing album Jeff Greinke Oƶphoi Telemore
  25. Nah 99% of today's electronic music is crap compared to 1970s electronic music. But this particular piece is just a fun thing. And I still think it sounds awesome. Here's another one. Klaus Schulze - Schwanensee I The first one to get a similar, dynamic, organic, warm and powerful sound just out of his computer gets a cookie.
