I like a few things in their catalog. Heard some of the fahrenheit compilations. Pretty good tracks on them. Regarding artist albums, I've heard Solar Fields / Blue Moon Station, Asura / Code Eternity and HUVA Network / Distances which were well produced, but lacked in the idea department. I've not found new interest in checking their recent releases. I've formed a picture their releases are generally more of a wallpaper (background) type of ambient I rarely enjoy listening.

Gas.... Well, I listen to Gas when I don't really want to listen to music, but still like to play something. I can't remember anything from a Gas track after it's finished. Perhaps it's part of the charm... If you're into deeeep music I recommend listening to Gas.

A good and relevant question. There has to be a "catch" that makes masses like it, and it has to be relatively simple to produce, so that it could be produced in high quantities thus making it possible for this style to gain larger success. My prediction: dubstep influenced, irregular basslines (yet regular bass kick), heavy on reverb, tape noise dark psytrance.

Bangkok Impact / Creme Years Simply put, the best electro album I've heard.

Often releases that spur a lot of contrast in opinions (hate/love) get many replies. This is one of those albums that are 1) hard to put in words by many, it's time taking task to write a review for many non english natives. 2) loved by almost everyone. You like this but see someone already posted your thoughts - what's there to add than simple "+1" really. My quickie review: Recommended if you like complex melodic music.

Good thoughts there. Tell you what. If I ever get around to purchase this album for a bargain price I'll make another, more "fair" review then.

I guess there lies some truth in your words. But take into consideration the amount of crap released these days, and you should follow my 'listen before you buy' mentality. You're saying these tracks I heard are different (longer) versions of what one finds on the album. But in the end, they're not made by psycz group are they? No, they're made by you. I'm not sure what's the motive to release two different versions of the album. You're saying they're more 'DJ friendly' I say they're boring - how about not making different promo versions with long repetitive bassline segments at all, how about giving out promos of the actual release in the first place? This way 1) The potential 'listen before you buy' customers actually know what they're getting. 2) You wouldn't get "unfair" reviews such as mine. Artwork (or story) won't affect my personal judgement, althou I'm aware they're important to some. I do like your graphic design thou. The ground reason for artwork in the first place is to make an album individual - or to make myself more clear: to be able to distinguish one release from another. And that's exactly the value of artwork for me.

I'm with you. There are some brilliant moments here and there. I especially like the climax in the first track. BUT. This album smells so techno - it's more techno than it's psytrance dare I say. There are a lot of sections on this album that repeat themselves far longer than they should. I get the feeling artists behind this are thinking "what should we do next?..." The very good parts on this album reveal the PoF guys are talented - it's not like they had no creativity and were forced to do repetitive music. But they did - half an album. There's good repetitiveness and one of bad quality - this falls into latter category I'm afraid. A lot of this album is built solely on bad ass basskick - it's a trick nice to hear to once in a while, yet this card won't win yours truly over for the whole duration of the album. To summarize: Well, listen before you buy. This is definitely one of those cases. If you're into techno the chances are you'll like this. I find this album to lack enough quality to validate a purchase. I confess...

malicious / think about this wow. my jaw dropped the first time I heard this - best darkspy agent I've met, really. Best of all, it's free for download on ektoplazm. If you like dark with a melodic twist, download "telepathik nonsense" asap (!).

plastikman / krakpot I think it's great for late nite, deep acid techno.

Quite my thoughts. In home of course you're in charge of the music. In that perspective home listening is great. But a nice outdoors setting, good music, people dancing to the beat... at best, it's madzik.

Mantrix - Universal. This album was supposedly one of the highlights in psytrance according to Deathposture's review. My impression was quite the opposite. Could only enjoy the first half of alpha beater and that's about it... will unselfishly give this top of the line crown jewel for anyone as bonus who wishes to trade some cd with me. Tristan - Audiodrome. If you have yet to hear this - let's just say're not doing wrong if you judge "the book by its cover". The moments of brilliance Tristan had couple years earlier in space sage or paraphernalien are long gone.

(Normal) trance is simple. It gets easily worn out, it's unchallenging. First time around some piece might be good, but after a while it gets boring. Like Rino said, I need my 'goa' or 'psy' prefix there.

I admit writing my comment when I was drunk. FSOL has of course made some brilliant stuff such as papua new guinea and their Q (santa monica mix) as mental cube is one of my personal fav'es when it comes to idm techno. And honestly I haven't heard half of their massive output so I should've kept my keyboard untouched.

I find both Burial albums excellent. First one is a spacey and economic in the use of sounds. There's some clever effects such as car key sound from Vin Diesel's XXX. I find "Burial" to be dark in its mood and prefer to listen at night. I wasn't quite sure if Burial's hype was justified before listening to the second album "Untrue". But I'm convinced now. I've heard nobody process human voice, take Simon Posford aside, like him. The tracks are much lighter than on the deput - so as a sidenote, if you haven't heard Burial before my personal suggestion is to start with "Untrue". It's easy to get into.

I've not heard "nu" meaning experimental. In my post I meant nu as new.
