There's absolutely nothing on this album that requires a second listen.

It's a decision that's understandable in the current world. Not that many Goa labels out there anymore, innit? Or even labels that release CD for that matter. There's a slight renaissance for vinyl which on the other hand is positive news, if you're into that. I still like to play CDs though... no need to have computer/app open is such a relief.

I used to blindly love everything these Italians did back in the 90s.... it's sort of strange to see your own taste change in that regard and listening to 'Antonomasia' today is a challenge sorry. The melody work is far from their best and those percussions just do not work well enough to carry the track. Maybe 6/10?

I listened to whole Radiotrance discography about a year ago. There was some nice experiments but unfortunately - nothing as striking as Plasma/Vostok 5 (But hey - Vostok 5 remains a brilliant tune!)

It ranges from 1995 (Primitive, powerful, to the point) to 1999 (subtle, liquid, complex). I'd still need to fully listen to their new album to tell if there are... new ways to say hooray? It's just the loud mastering that makes it somewhat a challenge.

Huh... maybe they've lost it? It's obviously still melodic Goa trance and in some way it's "hats off" for staying true to their sound. But listening to this track... nowhere near their best standards. 6/10.

I was exaggerating a little with my question... let's be honest about that. As much as he might not have been an established Goa artist, he was still making the tunes all the way from 1994 (he also has a compilation called Beat Archeology 1996-2002) that much we can be sure of. What aren't the facts? 1) Goa trance had no huge influence on him -> only he knows 100%. Besides "being influenced" could be even a rock band. There doesn't need to be genre-to-genre limitation. 2) The first tunes he released were all progressive -> this is also not correct (although some were, and a few were psytrance/progtrance in betweens, some Goa-ish) like this for example 1998: Ps. Around 2012 the whole term "Goa" or "604" had spread to be used quite freely. Maybe it was just Atmos' idea of what "today's Goa" is for him at that point? The whole discussion is difficult without Tomasz' own contribution.

I feel like the problem is I yearn for NEW stuff but I can't be arsed to find the goods amongst thousands of digital singles/EPs that come out each week. Also in the trend of nobody reviewing nothing - it's difficult to spot the good shit you're supposed to. Do I go back to the "good ol" simply because I know it better? Yeah I do.
