Artist Vs. Artist ~ Album Vs. Album ~ Label Vs. Label
Oopie replied to psytones's topic in General Psytrance
Krussedull (banana boat!) Witchcraft...which track you prefer: Magic Frequencies or Whale? -
Indeed. Got the same feeling...

We all hear music differently, there's nothing wrong in not liking a high rated artist; if you however mix your taste very passionately to your ego, what could happen is that the disliking of a popular artist becomes sort of burden - as you try to make others like the same music you do, it irritates to see differing tastes. Almost all of us try to underline our unique taste to a certain degree (what music are you listening... topic!) but heh, as long as we tolerate other tastes it's no problem. Find myself Koxbox to be truly in their own league, the attention to detail is of the highest degree I've heard, all music genres counted. None of their 90s stuff is simply programmed; so it might take longer to "get it".

What music are you listening to right now?
Oopie replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
Don't want to piss on your taste... guess I'm doing it anyway sorry! that sort of darkpsy is the blandest type, do you really get juiced up on that? take the small nyances off, the music is just about the rolling bassline, sigh. please have a listen e. "please have a listen" sounds so cocky and teacher-ish. Forgive me father, for I have sinned... hehe, I'm tired. Still, this track's worth a few minutes, promise! http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsSxUclQrZQ&feature=related -
Take Kalimba, which is really good (the only track where Asia 2001 lives up to his potential), aside, the rest of the album sounds dated. Can't agree with the cult status this album has achieved - and to continue, would only recommend this if you enjoy collecting old school and have the big classics already.
-
Funny. On the contrary, find these two outshining easily rest of the album. Both share epic, melancholic melodywork - giving a mental image of gods crying of the hopelessness of mankind... heart-ripping! Althou to be fair, do think both tracks are a tad too slow: usually pitch up Rodeo 7-9% and Interstealer Dawn 3-4% to make most ouf of them. Rating for both: A

Yes. The answer is Malicious. Althou I even opened a topic praising this guy from heaven to earth, nobody (on this forum at least) seems to have given him a shot. I've checked many 'hyped' darkpsy artist mentioned on psynews and this guy is heaps better, no bullshit. Every track I've heard by Malicious is great, no filler. Enough talk thou... his music is free to download, check out: http://www.filestube.com/5f4d4692c0d1ea9a03e9,g/Malicious-Feast-Of-Death-EP-2008-www-psychedelia-su.html http://www.filestube.com/85f63f9f89f2fbc303ea,g/Malicious-Wonders-FairyTales-2008-CzR.html

Understood. Still, I'd advice you to check out http://www.idmforums.com/ you might be able to meet more likeminded people there.

This is a good example of music that's not underrated per se (the contrary), but hardly discussed here as you know, it's a psytrance forum.
-
added some goa... travelling 4 + sfx
-
Images show here... bummer! Well, the one for 2,5 euros was travelling 4. And in the 'take 10 cds for 5e' bin one of the cds was SFX's Rainbirds.
-
Went out to visit 2nd hand shop, first of all saw this for 2,5 euros: If that wasn't enough to make one's day... there's a bin where you can pick 10 cds for 5 euros. One of the cds lying in the bin: ...and some curiousities such as my bloody valentine, babylon zoo etc. What a great day!

Hallucinogen for sure. Find most of his remixes surpassing the originals in quality.
-
Sundance Records comes to mind. There's some really nice melodic tracks on their vibraspirit compilations.
-
What comes to mind is Synchro's deput. People don't feel too strongly about this album but personally found it really well thought thru, full of ideas etc. It does lack melodic edge which might be a bit of a turn off for some of course. And Metal Spark's Corrosive - for similar reasons.
-
That's a good question. Some of his early tracks are the reason I listen to goa. Going downhill is relatively usual thing to happen ain't it? The producers see smiling drug-heads dancing to their tracks no matter what they produce, as they're big names they have nothing to prove either to get gigs. You can probably count with two hands the number of early acts that are still around with a fresh approach.

Stumbled upon this... http://www.discogs.com/Hive-4-C-Orchard-TO-DO-Just-Noise/release/700911 The A side 'T@o D@o' is forgettable number, but the B Side 'Just Nöise' is excellent piece of goa, lots of layers, brilliant intro, running 150 bpm... can't recommend enough really.

bothfb have their moments... Guess 'Twin Sharkfins' makes the difference so will go for Buddhas. Transwave... Hypnorhythm or Helium? -
There are some names in house music you can't go wrong with... Kerri Chandler Roy Trent Larry Heard Vince Watson The Timewriter Theo Parrish Moodymann Almost everything these producers touch turns into gold.

Artist Vs. Artist ~ Album Vs. Album ~ Label Vs. Label
Oopie replied to psytones's topic in General Psytrance
Tough one. Bypass Unit's first two albums are quite mediocre, not as good as Colorbox's "Train to..." but the 3rd one is somewhat better. Bypass Unit it is. North Central Positronics vs. Beast vs. Infernal Machine (please only answer if you've heard NCP also, thanks) -
I once thought Koxbox is intolerable noise...
