i have to admit: i like cheese! i almost love cheese! not all, but most of it! i mean, i have some cheese almost every day! such a great invention! when i think about cheese some nacho cheese tacos pop up, the icing cake for all sorts of noodles and pizza. to round up every meal, have some good cheese with white bread and a bunch of grapes. hell, the suisse even invented a cheese meal where you dip your stuff in a bowl with hot cheese. to perfect a photo think of cheese and get a smile. i can't think of anything bad when it comes to cheese... wait, there is something. i think of smelly feet! is it this metaphor that brought a distinct negative connotation to cheesy music? this connotation that puts cheesy fullon next to annoying euro trance? well, i don't know but thank god that cheesy music can sometimes sound like a buttered bread with a thick slice of old gouda. simple but effective. not to even say: what you want more? but again, the cheese in the music never reaches the greatness of a real cheese. cheesy comps can never be slightly more than average. so in this particular genre of cheesy-melodic-fullon-trance this might be the best comp i know. a rating of 5.5/10 like above is the climax or at least near the climax for a cheesy comp, isn't it? so, to me, this is somehow the cheese fondue of a melodic comp. you know better ones? let me know...
  7. pfff, this is one of the best albums of the "mc donalds prog trance" series
  8. wooow, is that an official release?
  9. there will be a rerelease. don't know when but surely this year
  10. Faerie Dragon Records VA - Squeech 1. LPC - Saiko Tooot 2. Hooloovoo - Organic Mechanic 3. Igor Swamp - Ytkytyytkyty 4. 5Meo Geo - Jumping Benlets 5. Salakavala - Undercover Attack 6. Spiders Silk - Xela Kaynam 7. Squaremeat - Creak At The Joints 8. Odd Harmonic - Intensive Hinderance 9. Indepth - Disappear Here One of the few Suomi-Style CDs I own and it became better after each listen. Of course I can't compare this to the 5-Star-Suomi-Comps (whichever these are) but if you give this genre a listen only once a while you don't complain when you enjoy a whole CD. And this is the case here. Almost all the tracks are good, differ from each other, have their distinct style and make this an enjoyable listen from the beginning till the end. And to round things up you get some standouts. Hooloovoo's track is a combination of a funky beat with a nice weird melody that sounds like being in a Hongkong carnival with these Dragon puppets all around. Like mentioned above, normally this doesn't fit together but here it merges into an outstanding track. Igor Swamp delivers also a funky track. It's heavy bouncing from the beginning and gets really freaky because of all the frogs jumping around the dancefloor. Short Drum sections give it also a tribal touch but this is completely froggy. I also like Squaremeat's track. It's a good headnodder until the middle of the track, and when the melody breaks in you're returning into Hongkong carnivalism. Only rarely I found a cover of a comp so suitable to the music. Well, judge yourself!

  13. haven't heard a lot from D5 till now, despite the praise they got. listened to a few samples and was impressed, this sounds reaaallly good. seems like they won a new friend. well, that's my impression after hearing the samples - curious now
  14. i'm not so into nitzo-goa but to hear a good track once a while is refreshing. i like the fast rhythm and that uplifting ethnic feel 7/10 next one from the handshaker himself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVyJVYWHJaY
  15. radi is writing books ?? i'm sure that will be epic - let me know where to find it
  16. Those who don't know Tron Sepia but like Psystep really missed something, but it's never too late. They released a free EP on Ektoplazm (where else?) and got great feedback. The sound is incredibly deep with thick basses and haunting female voices. If you haven't listened yet, give it a try. Here's a tune from their Soundcloud where they gather all the creative outpout, which covers not only psystep but a lot of other electronic styles but always with a touch of psy. This here might also fit in the category of Psystep, but it has a more dubsteppish feeling while Tron Sepia's musicality still shines through. 17. Artist: Liquid Space Title: Center of Soul Label: Bionic Pie Sounds Released: Feb 2005 Tracklist: 1. Another Life 2. Real Eden 3. Learn from Leary 4. Summer Session 5. Schwarzlichtgewitter 6. In Wonderland 7. Lunatic Asylum 8. Scary Inclusive 9. Rendered Dreams A few years ago this came as a big surprise to me. A friend brought this and like always when you really like something from someone you never heard of before you're left with a smile. Liquid Space are Denny Seidewitz and Serdal Kalkan and this was their debut. Meanwhile they have released a few EP's and are known through their collaborations with Iono Music. I don't know any of their newer stuff, but I imagine it's more on the proggy side, while this album is totally Morning Trance. All tracks here are enjoyable, have a clear structure, start with nice intros, evolve with pads, breaks, thrown-in samples and uplifting melodies. This may sound completely samey but if it's that smart I won't complain. And hell, there are some really sweet melodies, who am I to complain? All the stuff here is for the morning (Tracks 1,2,3,7,8,9), while the middle has a darker touch (4,5,6). Well, not dark but dark as morning trance can get. For sure this is the kind of simple Morning Trance which most of the guys here won't like or even hate because of their cheesy melodies (which are not "that" cheesy), fullon bass, them missing psychedelic-goa-formulas or the absence of swirling mindfuck, but those who like Atma, U-Recken, Tikal and so on (or Liquid Space's proggy stuff) will find something to like. A very nice track-per-track-review is written on the Discogs page and I agree with these words completely. To conclude, I wanna quote him: To write good music you don't need lots of fancy equipment if you have ideas and talent. Well, that's nothing new, but always nice when it apllies.
  18. nice pump, typical goa structure, easy eastern sounding melody - not bad but doesn't impress me 15 years after 4.5/10 @ subtle thrust: nice pick, again one of my favourites which have a 10 in my book. for sure cause of nostalgia. like you said, goes along with me for years. btw, that isn't the layback but the original version. there's a nice video, sadly not the best resolution but fits the track very well --> edit: allright, first come, first served @ bassline baby: perfect name - really like this bassline, straightforward from the beginning with a nice swirling melody. a stormer as setstarter, for homelistening too samey for my taste 6.5/10 next:
  19. stunning !! could be for my bedroom !! in my wantlist
  20. hey jesze, where can i see your deco this year - seems like i have to go on a party cause of the visuals instead of the music

  23. very nice ambience, building and entrancing, perfect calmdown - 7.5/10 @ ritual om: protoculture's first album is one of the few morning trance albums which i can listen from beginning till the end, with avalon being the ultimate highlight - i love this tune, to me this is a 10 !! next one could fit your taste
