    I recently bought myself a laptop for making music on the go. It's a Razer Blade 14" and it's great, but the on-board sound card is predictably crap - for example, when played through my headphones (which sound fine when plugged into my desktop), a 50Hz sine wave sounds more like a triangle wave. I'm thinking about getting an external USB sound card and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations. I won't be using any additional hardware so I don't need a proper audio interface with a bunch of different ins and outs, nor do I need anything particularly high-end. I'm considering one of these two. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing? I'm running Windows 8 (likely to be upgraded to 10 in the near future).

    Sound design can also incorporate recorded sounds (like old-fashioned foley techniques in movies).

    Not to mention that politics is extremely divisive and therefore IMO has no place in a genre that's supposed to be about unity and hedonism. For a paradigmatic example of almost-good psytrance ruined by politics, see Vegetal.

    I don't think that's true at all. Richard Devine may be the only well-known artist who does sound design as a profession, but loads of artists design their own sounds - that's what modular synthesizers and things like Max/MSP are for (not to mention microphones). Some artists even write their own software.

    Love the elephant. I've got my CDs stacked in IKEA racks like the one in the OP, but they're now full and new ones go in a pile on a nearby bookshelf. There isn't space for many more there either, so I'm going to have to figure something else out soon.

    Looks and sounds great. I found it a bit hard to follow; I realise that some of the ambiguity was intentional, but I think it could do with a bit more exposition rather than relying on the audience reading the description. Not sure how that could have been acheived without it seeming awkward, though.
