I feel like I want to make fun of the idea of not being able to connect with downloaded music, the joke would suggest increasing the amount of crystals on your desk and dreamcatchers in your ceiling, but I won't. Ott is by FAR better when he has some speed to his tunes. Went through Blumenkraft today, and there's just no question for me. I like this album when he gets into the faster stuff. However, the best part is that track 3 is pretty slow but it has FIRE to it which makes it great. The vocals are done really, really well. I've got Squirrel and Biscuits down on guitar already. In April he plays live 5 hours south of here, in Portland. Man I wanna hear this live so badly. Ott

This album has to blow us all away. Prometheus' third was good, Younger Brother 3 will probably be okayish, Shpongle God particle was okay, but this needs to be effin spectacular.

Yup. That means the release date is accurate!
  5. Yeah, bought that album because of the one track on ultimae which was really good. The rest of the album is pretty hard to get into, kinda left it at that.

Well, they are 5 days apart, i'm travelling from Vancouver, it's in the middle of my finals weeks... I really want to though. Maybe it can be done, but I give Ott priority

Shpongle is doing a west coast tour too, but I'm really thinking I'll see Ott instead. Damn these choices.

Are anyone here seeing Ott on his US tour? Im thinking about Oregon!
  9. So, explain this. Psy-trance burns out and ends up giving us releases like these, who, to an outsider, might appear as a parody on psy-trance by the sounds of it and the title of the album. So, the fact that psy-trancers enjoy the album is solidified in the fact that psy-trance has burned out... Does that make sense? The samples sound absolutely horrendous.

Here's some new material by the sounds of it. This sounds really, really good, fits with "the great side" of Ott, and should be mindboggling.
  11. I agree, it's a great compilation. Pupillary Response is probably among my top 20 non trance tracks. It shares a beat pattern with these two, among many others http://www.youtube.c...h?v=91YZm2SC96I
  12. Samme mener jeg, er heeelt sånn.

  13. The androcell and solar fields albums are great.
  14. I'm happy to say I've been too rash. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjCupxS-kSE Possibly the greatest Biosphere track I've heard. And it's from Dropsonde.
  15. Androcell - Entheomythic Tracklist 1 Endless Wonder 6:47 2 Mysterious Union 7:36 3 Desert Nomad 8:21 4 Ganja Baba 8:12 5 Night Sorceress 9:15 6 Synchromystic 7:37 7 Higher Circuit Experience 7:31 8 Full Sail 7:25 9 Dub Gardens 9:13 That's right. Androcell is back after the last few years of working with Distant System. There are many reasons why this is the best Androcell album yet. The first Androcell album never quite got to me, but Efflorescence impressed me with its super-organic sound and deep, dubby, funky beats. Androcell's 3rd - Entheomythic goes right back into that 'sound', but it's dirtyer, deeper and way more polished. You hear very familiar sounds, but it's just taken ten steps further. I'm very happy with artists that are comfortable with their own sound and are willing to go back and push it in new directions. An album is always good when you play it, go do something else, and then stop whatever you're doing to somehow check to see if you're hearing what you're hearing. That happened 5 times with this album, tracks 2, 3, 5, 7, 9. I feel that 'dub' is the best way to label this album, although the tempos vary greatly, making it very dynamic and versatile. Samples are used well and althought they are 'ethnic', they shouldn't bother anyone. Contender for downtempo album of the year.
  16. I'd go so far as to say that an off-topic section defines a community as opposed to a message board. It's almost weird posting here now (as there used to be an off-topic section), because you feel the need to regulate your posts and never ever stray into anything else than 1) Did you / did you not like the music 2) CDs vs MP3's vs Vinyl 3) Hey guys I'm listening to Shiva Shidapu today. This place needs way more creativity and way more humor. I don't miss the off-topic wars, but I do believe they were an appropriate cost for the really, really awesome people and ideas that were posted here. The whole idea behind this subculture is way more than 'just' the music. That's why the reviews here should be kept and made into a database, the site layout should go back to the roots (with OOOD's essay, maybe fan art, experiences, links to clothing, whatever trippy stuff, parties), and and an offtopic-section should be reintroduced just to see if it works this time again. Bottom line is: I wanna be able to go to psynews and feel that it's part of that way old "treasure hunt" era on the internet with fusion anomaly, looking through obscure threads about artists and music. Make it less clean and way more enjoyable.
  17. Cool, have they released anything? Corolle is.. yeah. I mean I'm no Goa-veteran, but I've got the feeling he really got the Goa-vibes rejuvenated there. His ambient stuff on ultimae is also good, that was the way I discovered Khetzal.
  18. Corolle is outstanding. I hope there will be a new album!
  19. I agree. And then we should get back the "what is psytrance" essay. Man, that was the good old days. Psytrance is oldschool anyways, let's go back in time with psynews.
  20. Oh man. They had a concert in Oslo this summer but I was abroad. Dang it, then I'll never see them.
  21. I can verify that although it may seem this way, psy-trance people annoy each other just as much as on any other hi-fi, formula-1, videogames forum. I really think psynews should go back to the way it was before these new forum types. Make it oldschool again. Open an off-topic and do what Ormion suggested.
  22. Psynews was part of my earliest internet experience. It was part of the fusion anomaly "treasure hunt" days where you had to dig deep to find the really good stuff. When the newer forum layouts and eventually off topic went away, the forum kind of went into a more 'clean' phase which obviously changed the feel of it. The review section here is unmatched anywhere else, and what I think is really worth keeping. You've kept it floating for a long time mars, and I understand it can't keep going forever.
