  1. Having some dinner, sausages mmm, and then heading out to blow off some steam after one hell of a week in college! Oh, and thinking about speakers to buy that'll plug into an ipod for around £100, maybe less, any ideas?
  2. Emmanuel Top is ledgendary! Acid Phase really is a gem of old school acid techno, simple but beautiful. Lobotomie is a stormer as well.
  3. :@ Rotwang, that Androcell cover strikes a particular chord with me, incredibly beautiful!
  4. The Infinity Project covers are by far my favourites! But as they've already been posted:
  5. Yes, this is a really good EP. Magic Frequencies is high octane, pure Goa through and through. Layers build up until you have melodies snaking across the soundscape, carried by a rapid driving bass and a steady Goa kick. About three minutes in an eery melody emerges, really rather rythmic, forty seconds later this breaks down and then the energy is released again. As the track moves towards the peak sweeping synths underly the scratching notes, and the haunting sound carries the listener to the end of this classic melodic track. Whale begins much more slowly, a heavy kick is accompanied by swirling synths and a very old school style voice synth, this drops away quickly to give way to another tense melody, it changes quickly to a rising and falling acid line with acid screams underneath. This track is a lot more raw than the other, you could lose yourself in it were it not to break down so often. In this track Witchcraft doesn't develop the melody so much as he changes ideas every few minutes. A hypnotic section ensues, layered with some melodic acid and various creaks, but yet again before this is given time to develop the rythym is altered and the acid sound is changed. Suddenly an uplifting and dramatic section erupts for just a few seconds, before a dreamy acidic pattern is laced on top and the listener follows this to the end. The ending seems to glue the different sections together and I was satisfied. It's an okay track, Witchcraft knows how to layer sounds and his aesthetic style is very pleasing, but it seems to lack the direction of the other track. Magic Frequencies is definetly one of Witchcraft's best releases, I think he has a beautiful simple style, it is rather primitive and as a result more complex pieces lose impact. I prefer Eastern Rain over Whale.
  6. Yeah Parasense is alright, not my cup of tea, I think there's better dark forest out there, like Para Halu, but I wouldn't have said these sorts of artists are like Tutankhamon 9000 particularly. For a real pioneer in dark psy check out Xenomorph - Cassandra's Nightmare, ooosh! 1998 as well! Edit: Forgot to mention Scatterbrain - Infernal Angel, amazing early darkpsytrance from 2003. Very unique style.
  7. Good darkspytrance in the vein of Kindzadza would be artists like: Osom, Kashyyyk, Matutero & Cosmo. It's that glitchy, rolling bassline, screechy style and i'd reccomend the V/A "Peace for the Wicked", every track is an amazing representation of the style. That or V/A "Crazy Tunes", but Crazy Tunes gets into hyper bpms and possibly lacks the intelligence of Kindzadza etc, it's more of a physical appeal than a head trip. Enjoy (;
  8. Re-typing my English Literature coursework on Hamlet D: , it's soul crushingly dull.
  9. Look into Darkstep, it's the more rapid, aggresive side of Drum and Bass.
  10. This is so hard! 1)Hallucinogen - Twisted 2)Planet B.E.N - Trippy Future Garden 3)Astral Projection - Trust in Trance 3 4)Etnica - Alien Protein 5)Cosmosis - Synergy 6)Darshan - Awakenings 7)X-dream - Radio 8)Doof- Let's Turn on 9)Deviant Electronics - Brainwashing is Child's Play 10)Pleiadians - Identified Flying Object A lot of my favourite tracks are from EPs however, such as: MWNN - Lunar Cycle Etnica - The Italian EP Cosmosis - Howling at the Moon Transwave - Datura Power Source - Goaway/Gargamel EP
  11. Try Etnica - Chrome. It always gets slated in comparison to their older material (which I love more than chrome by a long, long way), but it's a completely different style. Pounding hypnotic minimal. I was glad to see you already have the Bufo album! I love it!
  12. Favourite tracks: 1) Zen Mechanics and Motion Drive - Outwards 2) Ace Ventura - The Light (Zen Mechanics Remix is pretty close) 3) Ace Ventura - Presence 4) Zen Mechanics - Modified 5) Fatali - Deep (Gilash Remix) 6) Headroom - 3-4 To The Floor 7) Ovnimoon - Dual Nash 8) Ace Ventura - Connected 9) Protoculture - Sweet Fine Crystalline 10) Bufo - Doing Kermit
  13. Really very good indeed, heavy hypnotic beats all the way. I'm glad Etnica evolved!
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyhdIFvXkJw&feature=related V/A - Crazy Tunes is sick!
  15. Found this is a second hand cd shop today for just a few pounds, surprisingly good! Primal Scream - Higher than the Sun (Battersea Mix) is amazing!
  16. I agree about Hux Flux! It's so mindbendingly twisted! One step ahead of the rest when Cryptic Crunch came out, good shout.
  17. yes... i loooooove me some TIP.... :) great minds think alike

  18. I think drugs have a lot less to do with the scene than people think. The people who are interested in creating psychedelic music will maybe try acid or something, it could be a positive influence artistically or whatever, but if they hadn't taken the acid I doubt it would have altered the course of their art drastically. Psychedelics pull stuff out of your mind that was already there, or emphasise things, they don't make someone instantly artistic and creative. As for the debate about whether acid is good for a person or not, its completely ridiculous to say it's either outright good or bad, the nature of the substances are subjective to subjectivity's highest degree. I think some psy artists change their style to a more mainstream one because of the advancement of technology. People can now hear any kind of music and swap and change and be influenced every single day for no cost. Different styles are played together etc. Back in the 90's in Goa, it was all extremely psychedelic music and the scene was isolated. Nowadays underground music is less isolated style for style, artists will evolve. I don't think it's a major issue anyway, psychedelic music will never die out, it's too special. Artists that change style to a mainstream style will never be coaxed back into making spiritual music anyway, it'd be false and you'd hear it in the sounds. As a side point, "weird" reverberating sounds don't make something psychedelic! The Grateful Dead was one of the biggest psychedelic bands going in the sixties and seventies, take a listen!
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DdT1epykdA&feature=related Been playing this a lot recently, getting into this ultra emotional style more and more! Love classic trance too, Dance 2 Trance - San Fransisco & We Came In Peace are just fantastic. Listening to new modern trance seems to emphasise more and more how people in the psy scene call something "cheesy" just because it's emotional. It's extremely annoying.
  20. "Different musical projects" means outside goa trance... Rock band, as violin and keyboard player... Electro, as composer and keyboard player. Not really different sounds from what I use in my trance live-acts, but different musical styles for sure... Different live-acts experiences." From his facebook.
