  1. I will have to also check this one out. Anything on this label that stands out as a favorite (or maybe a few?) Again, thanks.
  2. Good point. Well said. I think I get more of what you mean now. Curious... did you see this? Elysium click here Really would like to see your thoughts on this one. Thanks for your time Cheers everyone
  3. Thanks much my friend... very cool list. Tell me - which of these have more uptempo sounds? I'm really looking for more energetic IDM at the moment, and will get around to the downtempo/chillout stuff later. Again - many thanks.
  4. Ok psynewsers... Help me find labels for good IDM I don't care if its rough or downtempo, just looking for some labels to exoplre. b00m
  5. +1 I dig 1200 Mics - and while I do like techno, the overuse of techno elements making its way into everything these days is getting old. What can I say about Raja though? I like him and I'll support a new record. (Would really prefer it to be some very psychedelic stuff though)
  6. I think there are just a lot of "anti anything new in psy that isn't old school goa" people in the scene who are just never going to accept change. And while that's ok for them, I think they are missing out. IMO some of THE BEST PSY (and yes old school heads, PSY) stuff out there these days is darker, more twisted, glitchy and full of energy. Can't get enough of a lot of the stuff coming out of Germany, Russia, Japan and obviously South Africa drops bombs all day long. Psy has many faces now - let it be what it is and stop bashing new artist's exploration. Just enjoy
  7. True. I do it too. Just don't like it when it turns ugly. Logical statement though. We do quantify.
  8. Absolutely LOVING the music I'm hearing from Cosmic Conspiracy Records - CCR Electric Power Pole Records - EPPR Trishula Records - TR great newer labels, really creative dark/prog/psy etc well done my new friends
  9. Whats the album just below Psykovsky? Looks cool but I don't know that one. b00m
  10. big + 1 here *gives scizoeffective a spin with lightening speed* I also think of Cassandra's Nightmare - same kinda thing, and its regarded as a classic. May have even invented the darkpsy scene (don't hold me to that) The bottom line is that rhythmic dance music can be hypnotic, light, dark, deep, melodic, scary, experimental etc AND STILL BE TRANCE & PSYCHEDELIC there's a lot of dance music that is neither psy or trance and I get that - but I have to say I've had quite enough of the new schoolers saying old goa is lame, or technoheads saying psytrance is dead, the battles between darkpsy and goa, the anti-prog crowd calling anything less than 140bpm non psychedelic, people who say suomi is just too "out there" to be psytrance, or old schoolers saying only stuff from the 90s is psy. Like there is anyone who is just THE definitive authority who gets to decide what qualifies as psy music. Really I'm sick of it. If everyone would stop trying to make definitive classifications of what the music is or is not, AND JUST LISTEN TO MUSIC AND LIKE WHAT YOU LIKE, we would have a scene without all the cancer.
  11. Much appreciated. Its refreshing to see someone who doesn't come back with insta-attacks. Psy-culture has been overrun with hate and disrespect these days a lot of the time these days. I did try to give my best input and its good to see it was received well by at least one. Cheers to you for being a good part of psy.
  12. I think you get into some dangerous territory when you start to classify things in terms of how you think they make people feel. Darker, more "evil" or "twisted" tones in music sometimes has a more psychedelic type of effect for some. For example - with me, I absolutely love when the darker, colder (more doomy) weather comes. Most people tend to get more depressed, sad or otherwise messed up when the sun goes away. Here in the US, places like Seattle have super high suicide rates because its dark and rainy there all the time. But its perception - I LOVE THE DARK, COLD, DREARY weather, and in fact, become a little more testy when the sun comes out. In this same way - darkpsy, or maybe suomi, or psycore etc, may make some people have a much better psy experience than others. This is why I think its healthy for psytrance to explore a lot of ground, because while there are the masses (of which I am part) that love the traditional Goa Trance sound and style, many others are finding their home with other exploratory avenues of psytrance culture. That being said, I still listen to about 90% stuff from the 93-97 era Goa Trance, but I also have much appreciation for Darkpsy, Psyprog, Suomi, Twilight, Minimal, IDM & Techno. For what its worth, those are some of my thoughts. Long live Goa, long live Psy, long live dance culture. b00m
  13. Acid Stuff was also very nice. LM = good stuff
  14. Full length Space Elves would be nice Loved the tracks from Pagan, Goatronika and Energy Waves btw. Excellent stuff
  15. When are we gonna see an album from you?
  16. I agree as well. And I am glad that there are swog artists making different sounds just a lot are doing some fairly standard melodic stuff (which is great too Really loving that new EP from Innerself and the Alienapia was a monster (horizon is one of my favs btw - nicely done)
  17. You were part of that scene making music when it was all going down. As someone who was there and might have more knowledge of what Goa Trance was all about at the time would you mind listing those 15-20 artists who typically get the credit and then maybe just expanding a list of Goa Trance artists (as many as you like) that you really believe encapsulate the heart of Goa? I think it would be great for the community here to see a different perspective because I see the trend now as well all the SWOG (second wave of goa) artists or nearly all of them seem very pinned to remaking the melodic magic of the past. Don't get me wrong, I love great melodies, but I can see how "Goa" has more or less been reduced to melodic or its not goa. Last thing - can you name any new artists (meaning artists who made their debut after the great Goa era of the 90s) who might not be making melodic trance who you would consider "new school goa" ? Thanks for your time - great topic everyone - nice conversation b00m
  18. I go back and forth as to who I have at #1, and right now Timecode and Suntrip are just deadlocked in a tie. Energy Waves is as good with Melodic Goa Trance (or what I call SWOG - "Second Wave Of Goa") as Tokoloshe is with that roughneck, driving twilight psytrance. Great labels, great new stuff. Long live psy.
  19. Tokoloshe is a monster. It hits hard, its fresh, has not lost a step at all and leaves me hungry for the next one. I also thought Kartuxo was fantastic as well. If you haven't heard that one - get on it! Very good (especially love the Phyx track & hoping to see another record from him soon because I LOVED Kiss the Blade) Seems like this sound/style still has a lot that can unfold out of it and Timecode is right at the forefront of its development. Great label, great artists, great energy - and definitely great Psytrance. What can I say? I'm a fanboy as well (I think I could be happy just with Timecode, Zenon & Sundtrip these days) I know there are other labels, other artists and so on, but they are releasing such great stuff I could listen for a long time and never be bored. B to the 00M!
  20. Just heard this - definitely progressive AND psychedelic great stuff agree? disagree? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxZL8p5Ydo0
  21. Yup - a lot of "prog" used to be a lot more psy, now its just more house/trance or whatever. Loving the stuff from Bio-Sine and Power Pole - thanks for the recos Goa-Getter!!
  22. I'm still mostly an old school guy as well. More melodies, more layers, more atmosphere, more soul - this is the stuff I love most. Though I can dig the new stuff as well. I've begun to see more your point about progressive trance vs psychedelic trance. Picture becomes a little more clear when you compare the styles. So on topic... Zenon - prog - psy, or both?
