  1. Ah, I kinda know what you mean. This "ambient behind" kind of stuff I, however, am recognising this in more or less every "scando trance" type of track from many other artists aswell (at least in the panoramic ones - the panoramic ones are characteristic scando trance for me). That's the reason why I say Earthshine doesn't sound so different, hehe. It's also the reason why I like this type of trance so much ... because when you listen you can mostly recognise a sort of ambience behind - a calm, warm synth line that plays a melody which on its own could be included in an ambient track more or less right away. I'm glad that Earthshine has it aswell, that's just what makes it even more scando trance like
  2. Ant-Zen is one of the most interesting labels out there. Three words to love 'em even more: This Morn Omina
  3. I definitely agree with the fact that Earthshine is not as good as Magnus' ambient works. The next album will be ambient again anyway, don't worry But Earthshine sounding like trance mixed with ambient? I don't think so, I think it's more or less pure scando trance...
  4. I actually have two Tangerine Dream vinyls ... bought them because I got curious from people's talks on here (there was already a thread about Tangerine Dream some longer time ago I remember) ... one is their Phaedra gatefold vinyl ... but I remember it being quite dull, I didn't like it. And the other one has an orange with a headphone cable plugged into it on the cover ... that one is great. It sounds like another band compared to Phaedra. Can anybody explain me why they sound so different? And can anybody recommend me more of them that doesn't sound like Phaedra?
  5. yep, exactly what I wanted to say... be sure to check them out, this is the best tribal trance stuff I know!
  6. Gappeq!
  7. Good question what actually happened to this one. I totally forgot it was originally scheduled for release in spring last year... Did you get the two versions of the Manifold track released on Beatport?
  8. HA! I suggested that name change YEARS ago! Nobody did listen to me! And none of you will do it now either or will ya? Anyways, I kinda saw that John 00 Fleming CD coming since they invited him to play here to a psytrance gathering. That also was years ago. But as I saw the name John 00 Fleming on the flyer, which for me rather belongs to trance than to psy-trance, I knew it was somewhat going down. That was one of the venues I didn't go to... I'm not unhappy that after that gig another organizer took up the parties at that location ... one who brought "real" psy back again Thing is, if you go to Flemmi's myspace, the music he presents there is not even SOO bad. But it's just sounds like somewhat better trance to me and not psy... (except what they did to Muse on the last piece ... brrr, awful to hear that...)
  9. lol, just today I was listening to it again aswell

Oh nooo ... so Free Kings went down as well Sad. That makes it three (actually four) nice shops gone down. What the heck is still left? Does that mean next time I go to A'damn I won't bring home some fresh psy stuff? Not cool. At least you found some stuff...
  11. Well, all I can say is that this is actually a really good album! Phase Shift was the first psytrance release I got more or less aware of while browsing through Psyshop and the likes. I, however, was afraid of online ordering back then and thus I never got it ... but fortunately both of that has finally changed! I now only own this one, but since I know some tracks off the other albums I can say that it sounds different to Trittschall and very different from Wired, although it can be classified to be more related to the first album... What you get throughout the whole piece is a progressive sound, but a quite original and distinctive one. No other artist I know has got this kind of sound and effects. That's a good thing. Also the sound is very crisp, it has edge, it's actually even sexy ... I really like that. The opener is nice, gets you into the vibe pretty well. But the second track is more interesting; Tohuwabohu is really good, I remember this being on Goa Head 18 and I already loved it as I bought that one, hehe. You have to let it grow though, I needed my time. The third and fourth track are not that special ... third is still better than the fourth though, quite okay actually, higher bpm and more groovy, the fourth is more boring ... but if you are past those two you can be sure it doesn't get worse. Fifth one, Ziggzagg, is very good ... nice groove and more upbeat progression! Then the title track ... at first I didn't like it that much of a lot, but it grows, this reveals to be actually really good stuff! Sums up the overall vibe of the piece pretty well. And then, be ready for Zuversucht! For me this is clearly the best one on the album! Upbeat, nice and original effects, getting even better in the later parts, a perfect piece. And then Gluonball! This one also is absolutely perfect! I own this track since some years already and have been running to it quite often meanwhile and I must say this distinctive uplifting synth pad, it comes totally awesome each time it's used. Wonderful! And the track is perfectly finished off aswell. Overall impression is very good, but it's no true masterpiece aswell, no wet pants. One must be a sucker for this special kind of sound to really appreciate this piece for what it is, though. If you are, then a whimsical grin on your face will be certain for sure And the whole piece grows on you. Another sign for a nice and timeless investment. So ... well, the best outstanding tracks for me are clearly to be found in the later part. 7 and 8 are really awesome! 5 and 6 are really good aswell! In the first part only track 2 is somewhat outstanding. The rest is not that bad either though. Only number 4 is not my cup of tea... Now I only need to get the other two albums

Both Groove Connection and Boudisque more or less dead??? That's really bad news. What's going on? Somehow I always regarded Amsterdam as one of the most psytrance-devoted territories in Europe... Did you find any psy stuff anywhere else?
  13. And another successful trade. CDs this time. The discs were very well packed ... all perfect! And I, again, totally recommend this guy

  15. Man, noo, please don't start ranting and rambling again, that issue has a beard already. You are worse than Austrians. And this means something if it comes from an Austrian, oh boy! Don't get me wrong, I actually LOVE to be negative, I'm a bit of a doomsday prophet, so that's my duty! I mean, I'd actually enjoy it, to bathe in the waves of wonderful rants and sentimental thoughts, wonderful ... but damn it, it really slowly gets old. Some of you guys sound like if you lived in the local old people's home already... Recently I saw an underground TV show with a special feature about Goa and Psy. And you know, it was a wonderful show. Not because of what they presented, I knew all of this already, of course, but because there was no negativity! And no fullon! No negativity AND no fullon, have to say this again, because in the last times I had the impression this was impossible! Really, there was not this "it was all better in the past"-melancholic rant atmosphere that is so present at many places nowadays. Maybe it was a little idealistic and naive (the "hippie" way, you know ... a bit), but gosh, I now realize I prefer the much arsed hippy style to the rant style for thousand percent! Damnit... But I'm so happy that there are also some optimists here... Yess! Listen to this man! How if we actually really do something about it? This site is called psyNEWS, so let's do something! Form a collective maybe? "PsyNEWS collective - finally bringing NEWS to psy music!" NEW Music! NEW input! How about that? It's thousand times better than just ranting and doing nothing. If this doesn't work then you at least have a REASON to rant! So how about it, hmmm? I'd be up to join, but I can't make music. Maybe I can learn that once I'm past that thesis...

oh nooo, that's quite a big disappointment ... Especially what you say about Groove Connection is quite a surprise for me ... only full on? And only 2 or 3? Oh man, what has this place become? And no decent stuff at Boudisque? Not even some ambient? No Ultimaes? I had really good memories of these two stores. Also Free Kings (have you been there?). Quite a bad surprise that it obviously all seems to have gone down...
  17. Great interview The very last part was weird though.
  18. I too think psynews is one of the best places for reviews. Granted, the site is not always fast and some of the reviews are pretty loong with track descriptions so deatiled it doesn't even interest me anymore (earlier I thought that was cool though), but that's not really relevant for me anyway... If I can't find some review on here I search on isra and then via google...

    "new new street"? Genoius name
  20. Astral Projection are great, yes. I don't own too much of their stuff, plan to get more, but all I can say I liked everything I heard so far. And that includes the AMEN album of which many people say it's so bad ... what I heard of it was not bad... The point is though, as I saw them live they threw in some quite full-onish tracks that lack the power of the former Astral. The contrast became full clear and audible to me as they went back to their old stuff for some time and then reswitched to the new, it was like if it was another artist playing. And if that's what we can expect to hear on Open Society, then I'd really say too that Astral's gone. The Open Society track itself is not that bad though...
  21. Nooo, nooo, not now! Please! Please wait until I have seen you guys live! Please! Damn ... argh. And I never got to see them both DAMN.
  22. To be honest: I'd not have known a single answer

Oh yeah, I did a quite big CD shopping spree back then as I was in A'damn Free Kings, Kerkstraat 119 ... I remember that one. Was quite nice, but the people there were struggling to keep the shop alive. Pay them a visit if you are near - and if the shop still exists (no warranty, anybody can tell?) - I think they deserve it And I can absolutely, ABSOLUTELY suggest Groove Connection ... that was a cool shop. Maybe you even can find something decent at a little discounted price. De Plaatboef was cool too ... found a Space Tribe CD for 1 Euro there, maybe you'll be lucky aswell? Furthermore there was a psy shop on one of those main streets/alleys, Moondrop was its name ... many people passing by ... don't remember the exact address, but if you walk around you'll find it for sure. Oh and Ozmali records was great, but that shop isn't around anymore what? they were the biggest, most diverse shop I've seen in A'damn ... bought discs there already on twice of my visits ... that's a pity if they close
  24. I've got that one as well! It's quite good. Can recommend it. Meanwhile it should be available for a bread with butter ... the only tricky part is to find it...
  25. muahaha, total pwnage
