I find that the album is good, but not a complete highlight. I can not connect to some parts and sometimes entire tracks. "Mirage" opens up well, but after about three minutes it loses the throttle. Second track is good. I have no clue at all why it reminded me of Rinkadink's Pirate Signal track ... no clue, they sound quite different. Maybe it's just that the vibe is similar. Or maybe the melody's just in the same key? Good, but not groundbreaking. Third one has two parts that really push it forward and are awesome I'd say, but the track kinda hangs in the air in the middle ... just a trick that they have "something else" to display than the awesome part...? Anyway, good track that I won't skip. "Etropy" is a "no thanks" track for me. Doesn't catch me. Skip. "Stimulant" is good for most part, I like the voice and also I forgive that there's a bit of a lack of something because of the awesome kick. But I'm not overflowing with compliments. And then there comes "Behind The Wall". For me a masterpiece and THE reason, the only one why I would recommend this album to EVERYBODY. This track is a true bomb in my opinion, just perfect. Growling bassline like old-style progressive ... a looming dark synth over it all ... and this really well executed melody ... this track produces images, tells a story ... the bright melody as an "uprising force against the looming dark forces of government, society" (or something else if you wish) ... man, this is really great. When I run to this through the park at night, images pop out everywhere. The factories in the distance become guard towers, the looming synth becomes the pressure that society and our lives are exposed and exploited by government, police, cyber-espionage and whatnot ... spies everywhere ... and the melody becomes the light in the darkness, attempting to fight back, rise up, enlight your spirit, make you a member of "the resistance" ... and after a really interesting break that symbols something (what? think for yourself) it gets more furious, more insisting, I run faster, it gets more ferocious, more dirty, more biting, more pushing ... like a rally driver that has previously set up his car right and is now going for the special stage -- or to stay in our scenario, make it the chase that the resistance has to master to evade the bad forces ... until finally at the end it feels like "Evil" was overcome, but alack, listen close, it seems the upriser has become evil itself and the circle starts slowly to repeat - like defeating Diablo and then ramming the soul stone into your own skull - only for you to play the game again ... and to listen again to the whole amazing track. Yes, that's how you do it! Goosebumps! Plain awesome. But ... but ... why can the rest of the tracks not be like this? And here's the problem. Next track "Violent Serenity"? Yeah good, but heck ... where's the story? It's all nice and stuff ... but nothing groundbreaking. I don't have real motivation to listen through it after such a fest of awesomeness. "Ether" is, however, a nice closing. I am at peace with this one. The "Useless Loop" is ... ok ... but I kinda see it as an addition to chill down. Nothing major. Also not from the music. No goosebumps. And from that text you see the "thing" I have with it. It's a good album - with one PERFECT track (for me). Yeah. But instead of saying "it's worth the asking price" blah blah, I say: go get the track on beatport, listen to the album at a friend - job done. You don't miss out on anything major this way, at least in my opinion

This has been fixed now. Sorry guys. The forum seems to have f*ked up the permissions for that section. I have restored order now (so that everybody can reply). We definitely had members posting there in the past - don't know why it was changed. Thanks for the note :-)

Hello all I figured I might as well make a new thread when we already have a new forum ... for miscellaneous stuff, some of which may be a problem, some an issue ... and some not any of the two. Maybe we can step by step evolve together and get into this new forum software piece by piece. First, the rounded avatars ... I hate them. The setting how to change these is hidden in the "theme" settings in the ACP. I changed them to square ones in the BlueBoh skin. Let me know if that was a good idea or not... I could change them for other skins aswell maybe? Also note we have heard that some people having problems with setting the skin. Option: we set a dark skin as default for EVERYBODY. Let me know if you prefer that. I might make a poll, but can't be bothered right now.
-
that is weird and I don't know what's causing it :-/ Didn't find anything after a quick search either Maybe you wanna try out a different browser? Alternative: setting the dark skin as a default for all members ... I'm quite tempted to do that, as I think the majority would prefer it anyway... EDIT: I made a new thread for issues with the new board -- please refer to it for discussion ... because I think this will get a big topic --> https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/73764-the-new-board-issues-and-stuff/ In this thread the only thing I wanna say is THANK YOU to the people who donated -- you surpassed even my greatest expectations as to how fast this was through. THANK YOU ALL! You are a great community and you make me proud to be part of it :-) <3

CBL - Hydroponic Garden & World Of Sleepers
RTP replied to Starkraver's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Hey ... I didn't knew CBL moved to Blood Music ... I only recently found out and thought that was fresh news ... I'm happy for the search function - would've been embarassing if I had posted that in a new thread. Anybody knows the story behind it, I am interested. A new album is out Oct 6th btw... -
Hello sire - just to let you know, I have changed the font color in the first post to make it readable on every one of our board skins. Cheers and keep it up

Hi, this is a track that a friend of mine did, with my participation ... that thing was made long ago, but I found finally the time to post it because who knows how long Trump is still going to be "rising", huh? And we don't wanna change the title. The track might sound as awkward as the mentioned persona to some people ... but nevertheless, it's postworty I think. The product of a special moment in a looong night of music making... Subject I wanted to call "when Trump(ets) meet goatrance" ... but maybe that would have been too much ... for goa it is not - rather psytrance. But maybe you like it. Feel free to leave feedback

Ha, spot on ... I came across this today. But as I got to know what it is, it struck me: "Oh noes, are we that old already that we need the "new wave" of remixes...?" Meh, not really my thing. Give me NEW albums or new tracks by these artists and I'll love it ... but rather not something that sounds like medleys that went throught the Talamasca chute - feels just like he wants to cash in on the old music... I hope this doesn't become "in". Otherwise they'll soon exhume all the old stuff and urinate on their graves...

Extreme G Soundtrack (Revised) by Mellow Sonic
RTP replied to mellowsonicsound's topic in Free Music Promotion
hey this is a really good track - well done! And a cool coincidence that you post here ... I sometimes listen to some of your stuff on Youtube ... you make some great remixes from video game soundtracks. Keep up the good work (and do some more UT remixes, will ya ... the Forgone Destruction remix was great - and the alternate menu theme as well, like it a huge lot more than the one they picked for the pre-alpha)... cheers -
Hi so I am a crazy fan of Unreal Tournament ... loved the first one, played the 2004 a lot, then played UT3 excessively on PS3, now I don't have so much time anymore, but I'm still in tune for UT4... The soundtrack of the series is phenomenal (even measured in today's standards for me) and I love it. I always wished for some psy remixes. There are plenty of remixes -- and also plenty of great ones -- but psytrance was a scarcity. But well, recently, on the search for some UT soundtrack remixes, I found that there were indeed a few good psytrance remixes done: Forgone Destruction ... a remix of a signature track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMOYx1zYWmM the one from DM-Morpheus (if you know what I mean ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_whskgBeYc Organic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcFc96t_DYY and a Razorback remix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3brqjebGIrM all done by Mothership Loudspeakerz (the member Victo_Ries, who was posting promotion about Mothership Loudspeakerz probably gonna love this now ... yea I did search through if a similar topic already existed, couldn't find one though )... They may not be perfect psytrance tracks, but I really like them because they represent Unreal Tournament and there is not much psy that does it, at least I couldn't find much. Does anybody know more?

soooo great ... I can't wait this was posted today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkgR0SxmMKo  I haven't felt that energized by electronic music since the last release of an S-Range album ... which feels like AEONS ago. I will have to get that remix album on CD too...

Ha! Thanks for this thread ... for me personally, Retrowave is the new hype in electronic music ... damn awesome stuff. I confess, I listen to more retro than psytrance (and all its sub forms such as prog and whatnot) these days. It gives me back the fire from the old days, the fire which used to be burning ... well, it is still burning, but not as high as before I have to say -- although I'll always be running to psy ... rtp after all Anyway: Yesss, absolutely seconded. This label is my favourite. They have released a lot of great stuff... And the Scandroid album from late 2016 is my favourite so far, even though it's got vocals which I normally don't like so much ... but I even ordered this on CD to have something physical, it's so good... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfxDIyYU9nM That production quality and the way these songs flow, in such nice harmony with the vocals is unmatched in the retro genre to me ... if you come across something similar, post it here ASAP Oh and there is an instrumental version if you don't like the vocals: https://scandroid.bandcamp.com/album/scandroid-instrumentals cheers

Anything to recommend doing while listening to psy trance albums?
RTP replied to G.O.A's topic in General Psytrance
yes sir, indeed -- and I may say, cheers to your choice, Talisker is a fine brand! (I do say that I like the days better when the 10 year old was sold at the same price ... but whatever.) With Whisky in your company, the term "goa spirit" gets a totally new meaning hehehe ... wow that's signature material right there slainte- 25 replies

Hiphop that I like needs to be dirty, deep and dirty like these walls full of graffiti in a dimly lit downtown alley where the dealers lean on the side... The relaxing, weed-friendly stuff never was what I liked. In Austria we have this kind of hiphop subgenre called "slangsta" which I do like ... but the problem for me is that there are not that many artists who really get me going. "Rückgrat" was awesome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8PZs_VQasE but there is not much around anymore of this good dirty old shit I don't like the kindergarden lyrics of normal hiphop, lyrics about ho's and bitches and all that, I want lyrics that call people names and bring out the scum of mankind, in-your-face style. But even the "slangsta's" of old are nowadays quite weak... this song is a light in the tunnel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHTquW8EFA8 anyway ... if you want more, just ask, there is stuff, just hard to find. Hiphop stuff what I also like is The Streets. The older stuff from them is actually carrying the same dirty atmosphere as the good old Austrians... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MpiyqpAu-Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buG9fXAM0II TIGHT is the word I was looking for. So fucking tightly packed with rhymes and little stuff to discover. Loaded to the brim with dynamite. HipHop is extreme sports for me...

YES -- I was going to suggest Etnoscope ... glad somebody did already! If you like percussion, there's in my opinion no way past this band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLTB037VQZo (the track is called "Might And Magic") They do have some brighter tracks too... You can get both of their albums for free at Ektoplazm http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/etnoscope-drums-from-the-dawn-of-time http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/etnoscope-way-over-deadline

Yes, I know that film ... I was at the launch party for the book, there they showed it. Watched it also some time later, I think it was on youtube... I never paid much attention for the book and film though because I thought "why would I buy a book about it, I'm part of the scene anyway" ... well, now I'm a bit older and wiser and see the point, but it's too late Thanks draeke and Ormion for the other suggestions... Yeah the Texas Faggot one was awesome, thanks a ton for bringing it back to my mind Yeah Rock Bitch I posted too... but the forum didn't let me post the media, too much content and thanks for the reference, yes the first video was Shiva Shidapu - India Spirit Keep 'em coming...

Hi ... I'm just riding on a retro wave right now and I'm trying to find the old stuff again ... old Goa music videos ... these videos from the past time where the scene was small and the music was still called "Goa Trance" by almost everybody ... I'm sure many of you remember. Pure Music videos were scarce in our scene, but there were a few. I tried to find stuff with the search function, but had no real luck ... maybe there is an old thread but I didn't find. I am rather specifically looking for music videos ... but if there was a really poular one from a party, please do still post (i.e. my first example) ... I am just curious of anything... I have only found a few of the videos again and don't even know if there were more ... if you do know, please help me out. Let's preserve them. The less pixels the better Here's what I dug out: "SHIVA JOERG & EREZ EIZEN INDIA 1994" ... don't know what title it had back then, I filed it under a different one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seFGf7FTq94 Banco De Gaia - Kincajou https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ldzDwtl6ak Astral Projection - Dancing Galaxy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAsa3fPYA5g Astral Projection - People Can Fly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5Yj6ImVc1k Man With No Name - Teleport https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lILqZze2C8 Green Nuns of the Revolution - Rock Bitch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1HI4NvCYB8 I think there was one Goa Gil one aswell ... but what was it? Curious about suggestions...

That sums it up pretty well for my part aswell. And I find it still very enjoyable here -- the replies to the initial question so far speak for themselves And drama, yes, you'll never be able to eradicate that ... however, earlier I thought that the 'drama amount' is higher on psynews, but meanwhile I think it's lower here than outside of it...

The harsh reality... Why Psytrance has become shit
RTP replied to Anoebis's topic in General Psytrance
That would be my perception aswell... Well, I guess until the 'bandwagons of the masses' have passed through I'll just try to hide in a dark corner. It can only be for a few more years -
That is some sad news ... I have not been personal friend with him, but he was standing out for me as a very significant member of this beloved forum and I liked him a lot. Rest in peace.

The harsh reality... Why Psytrance has become shit
RTP replied to Anoebis's topic in General Psytrance
Very interesting! I am happy to hear I'm not the only one who has this feeling. I don't know, maybe there is a factor that I myself have changed, but I have a feeling that this is enhanced by outer factors who amplify it a great deal... The sound doubtlessly is a factor too ... but as astralprojection said, I also can't pinpoint a single synth or production technique to be responsible for it. Seems to be more complex.
