Oh, no BOTFB please ... that is too scary for me! And too "psychedelic". I don't want it psychedelic. Schlabbaduerst I know a bit of ... but that's also too driving...

Yes, we are all developing, aren't we? I also am much more into chill now than I was for example a year ago. But I don't think I would just focus on chill anymore one day, that's impossible, what music should I run to then? Chill is still getting better and better for me. Mostly because the upbeat stuff makes me more and more nervous when listening to it. That is good when I have to work something or want to work out or to dance, but when I'm just at home I tend to listen more and more to chill too...

euh ... well, that is, to be honest, absolutely not my cup of chai ... hehe ... I expected some beautiful synth melody and certainly not this That is the problem. Most people connect dark psy with dark bass, dark effects and squishes, progression, darkness ... that is all well, but I do not seek this kind of dark psy. I want synth melodies. Somewhat melodic dark, hehe ... but not too melodic either. The Neoris track was a very good suggestion for what I am looking for I checked other Neoris and they are not quite as good as the Submarine ... still, the synths are good in Dolphin's States for example too...

Thank you very much for the recommendations MOS, Terminator or Spirallianz are good, but not right the stuff I want ... but thanks anyway I didn't know Ghreg before. It's actually good and very dark stuff. But it's too blowing for the stuff I am seeking here. But I'll definitely keep it in mind, because sometimes I'm in the mood... Hey ... is that your own project? Nice clear sound, good production! Although the sound is not quite what I look for. It's progressing and rather dark, but the "abandonedness" in the synths is missing unfortunately. It's the same thing that goes with most other recommendations too - good and dark, but too focused on only progression without synth melody... Yes! Those are some great recommendations - except maybe the Freaking track, this one I don't like so much... But the NEORIS one is perfect! Absolutely perfect! Finally this one has got those peculiar "post-nuclear" peaceful synth melody that I am looking for and also the progression! YEY! Really really good! Listening to the sample already for the fourth time And the Audiobelle one is very nice and grooving ... I like it also very much, although it has rather a warm background synth than a cold, dark, abandoned one, but I like this progressive style and thus it's still a very good track to me And the Karavena is ok too. Dude, I don't know what you define as "post-nuclear", but this definitely is aimed in that direction. The deep bassline, the semi-dark somewhat uncomforting synth and then the sharper, also uncomforting dark synths and the effects over it ... fits perfectly to a dead city with black-windowed empty grey houses towering to a sunless sky full of clouds and fog everywhere and many signs with "attention, radiation" and such... Of course ambient would capture the uncomforting peace even more, but I don't want ambient now, I want progression. But ... nuclear ambient? I know dark ambient, but not nuclear ambient? ... Is that another sub-genre? hey ... I already know the first track ... it's by Wrecked Machines I'll probably listen to the full thing later... Eeeh ... why Dr Tropical ??? Not a bad track BTW, but ... I ... again ... miss the loneliess in the synths ... well, kinda, I didn't get much to listen to them in the sample, they were there in the background at the end ... must make myself a clearer picture of that. I also checked a few samples of the Intelligent Manipulation CD ... not bad, but what I heard wouldn't make me wanna get it. Thanks anyway

Yes, I know of that. I even got myself some songs on mp3 back then. It's good stuff. NIN did a great job! The pieces are rather dark ambient-ish (at least the ones I dled) though - except the theme. But thanks for the recommendation

Hmmm... Opsis is ... strange stuff ... not my cup of tea. It has a rather industrialied sounding to it occasionally ... but it would rather remind me of the horror game Silent Hill (especially the track "Opened And Examined") than of a fallout scenario. The disturbing peace is missing, you know? Nuclear Ramjet is somewhat better. Hits the spot better "Operation Northwood" has kinda the peacefulness in the synths that I want! But the beat is too fast. And the other songs by Nuclear Ramjet are ... again not what I seek. The Delta I know something of. Is their "Send In Send Back" album like the Thing? Because this track has a wonderfully peaceful-disturbing synth part in the middle, but then it again gets so ... ewww ... I guess I just don't want this kind of bass and beats. That's why I don't checked out more of The Delta ... because I think they will have this beat in their other songs too and singe the Thing is something people refer to as unique I don't think their other stuff comes close ... will check though... (now I checked and it's as I said ... not the stuff I want right now ... I'll put it on my list though, it's good...) Noma I know ... he did Prex together with S-Range. But Noma or S-Range alone don't quite do the trick. Noma is too prog and too fast and S-Range too fluffy for this kind of dark music I seek. Also, don't be misled by other Prex tunes. S4 is the only one of them I know that hits the spot! Also Beat Bizarre I know ... I have almost the complete Lewd album from back of my download times. But that's not quite what I search for either

First of all thanks for recommendations I checked samples. Voice Of Cod: that sounds okay, but it's too psychedelic ... feels like a layer of transparent fractals put on the pictures if you know what I mean... And besides I can hear Colin's voice in it and you know, it reminds me of the one of a radio moderator and that doesn't contribute to a darkness feeling ... hehehe ... Synthia System: that sounds actually like a good track ... this one I will remember ... but it has also not the "nuclear-ness", this dark kind of peace of abandoned cities... Time Lock: hmmm ... the effects are somewhat too razor-sharpish for me in a way to enjoy it... I would want something with darkish synths, but not too many and not too sharp effects over them... but thanks anyway

Okay, I got a request. I want some dark stuff. But the point is, I want dark stuff the way I want it ... I checked out the last "Dark Psy" thread and the artists mentioned there (those that I knew) are way too aggressive to me ... too "psy", you know? I seek dark psy that is not really psy ... and still though. Can't explain it very well, please read the description. Let me describe it: I want some psy that would fit as a soundtrack when you run through an abandoned city after a nuclear incident. Something that captures the atmosphere. I want it dark, but yet not psychedelically disturbing, because in empty cities there's nothing aggressive and disturbing - there's in fact some strange kind of peace there, but it's a deadly, uncomforting peace. I want music that has this atmosphere but is still progressing (meaning I do not seek dark ambient!). Somewhat "post-nuclear psy", you know? What tunes would you say fit in such a situation? (Yes, I confess, this IS inspired by those images of the abandoned Tschernobyl area...) I have only one example for the music that I'm looking for: Prex - S4. Dark music, but not too psychedelically dark, rather somewhat psychic dark if you know what I mean ... but not too dark yet, it's just ... the right stuff. Any recommendations? Please!

you people made me curious Concerning the genre I have to smile, for I have been thinking of that the synthesis of prog-psy and house will come already for more than a year and a half. And it's actually something I appreciate ... the groove is a very good contrast to the full-on and other aggressive blasting psy music of nowadays. I always have been on the prog side ... you know, it's good to run to. And I checked out D-Nox & Beckers (didn't know them before, seriously!). What made me curious was that Paul Van Dyk mentioned a track of them in an interview and now I see people on here talking about them and saying it's a merge between prog-psy and house ... sounded not uninteresting. Ckecked out their track Jet Lag Slave. And it's not bad. Indeed a merge between housish music and some prog ... yeh, not bad. Will check out more. (I KNEW I'd switch into more housy directions one day! I KNEW! I frecking KNEW!)

old news Jam & Spoon ... Jam & Spoon ... my goth, it's a looong time ago asI last heard those names... I can't remember anything of them ... must dig out the last remainings of my trance CDs...

this might interest you ... it's much to read, but take a look: http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=30703

Yep, Country Woods was the name ... and you're right about Rocky Pass / Summit too Genre description ... phew, that's hard indeed ... I'd say it's trance merged with synth-electronic ... somewhat ... but neither psy nor trance would define it exactly...
-
NFS3 was my fist racing game! Loved it But the music - psy-trance? WHAT? I mean, you can choose between electronic or more rock-oriented pieces, yep, but the electronic isn't very psy IMHO. Although back then I haven't been into psy much ... but still. It's synthy ... and some stuff is quite catchy (the synth music of the first track when you drive it in winter for example (you know what I mean, don't you?) ... or one of the themes in the main menu ... and some others...), but nothing real psy I would say...
-
VERY interesting indeed ... I also have this "can't get enough"/"louder, louder!"-feeling on concerts/parties ... interesting... gosh, I'm more than half through and should actually study will finish reading it later

GRAN TURISMO 4! I have NOT played it (I do not have a Playstation 2 ), but look here - this is the official soundtrack: http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/sol/sol1cd016.html ... Hallucinogen, Eat Static, Koxbox ... some state of the art artists there!

Awww, that's bad to hear that equipment got damaged But you must try to do something about it! Flight companies are insured ... if something happend to somebody's luggage they have to pay! Now it could be already to late, but you still have to try to contact them, maybe there is something they can do! (Next time you should check the luggage immediately, better safe than sorry - and if there's any damage go to the airport personnel right away and tell them!) And haha, thanks for the offers guys ... whenever I will come to Malmö or Amsterdam again I'll ask you if there are some events coming up or clubs to go

oh wow, incredible!!! (haha, in Gansdoline's gallery there's even one pic of an event where I have been ... the third one ... that must be taken in the WUK, I know it, because deko looked exactly like this and decks were at the same place and this light spot in the front hangs in the same place...) *bookmarks psygarden* That's an absolutely awesome site! Why didn't I know that one before?

for me not at all ... I think Shamanix is a bit scary in the beginning (especially when jogging with it on the ears through the big park near me at night! I did that once and never again, huuh ), but then it gets rather happy and joyful the more it comes towards the end... Psy-tracks feelings for me: 1) Sadness (but hopeful, beautiful sadness, if you know what I mean ): Noma - Another Time 2) Fear: Battle Of The Future Buddhas - Tigerhill 3) Loneliness and fear: The Delta - Thing ... dark ambient can bring this feeling up too. 4) Energy: Etnoscope - King Size Rizzla and other Etnoscope tracks. 5) Pushing / Anger-motivation: Penta - 1001 Hangovers and Quantum State - Natural Born Idiots 6) Happiness / joy: S-Range - Dimension Jump and many others by S-Range, that's why I like it so much 7) Meditation: Padmasana - Universal Consciousness 8) "one with the universe": Matenda - Smiri Se 9) Comfort / warmth: Makyo - Vismaya and other Makyo.

hey Nemo, that must have been a cool gig It was nice to read too, gave me an impression of how much you dudes up there at the decks actually work to provide us with a good live set ("I need an adapter, I need an adapter...", hehe). I wish I could have been there, I quite liked Malmö. But can you tell me where in Malmö nightlife is going on? Because I was walking there around the city at night with my friend to find a pub or something and we didn't find ANYTHING! Really, there were even hardly any people on the streets, it was almost like a ghost town - with us as zombies ... but most likely we only didn't get there where the nightlife is ... because youth hostel is pretty far from the centre to walk... And ay, Nos makes good deco ... unfortunately I have not ben at a party decorated by him yet

that's good, I'm curious

Hey, Krell, you remind me of my communications teacher He told us to always focus on positive things first. Always! Because even in the worst things there can be found a grain of good. Anyway... I can only second the promotional factor of mp3 pirating and such. I wouldn't know ANYTHING of psy without mp3 AT ALL! Without mp3 I'd be a techno/trance-listening stupid chav, no joke, because that's what I was into before psy came! Mp3 saved my life, music-wise! And that is something to be forever thankful. I am also pro academic music genre definition! When I want scandinavian melodic progressive morning trance then I want this special kind of music and nothing else. Many genres ease recommendations of similar stuff! I'd set the definitions really precise so that everybody knows what to check out when he/she likes this or that artist! And there's even a good thing in event quality decreasing: people's expectations get lower and when you expect something bad and get something good (which is fortunately still possible) it's double yay for you (at least for me a positive surprise results in much more fun because of realizing having the luck to experience such a thing than when I expect something good and get something good). And when you expect something bad and get something bad you are not so pissed off like if you expected something good and get something bad...

Hey, Xerxes, I got myself that album ... and I find your music pretty good. What especially stands out IMHO is Prague ... I love Prague, it's my favourite, I really like it ... nice chilly music with a light melancholy in it, that's what I love so much about nordic music. It's not sad, but it has this little ... special thing in it only music up from there has
