  1. *Anthony Rother: Hacker !!! Conceptual Electro Album, just f*cking incredible. *Dopplereffect: Gesamstkunstwerk, DJ Hell bought the rights to all their stuff (because: very limited, mostly vynil only & pretty brilliant) & released a compilation of it on his own Gigolo-label. Essential & very DIRTY
  2. Can't let go, can you? Better be careful now, don't wanna go thère again... Maybe it would hel pif you did read all post as if they were directed to you personally? Anyway, Speed Garage: loved it !
  3. Hey amigo, if you wanna play thàt game: Sugar is Sweater - CJ Bolland (Armand van Helden's Speed Garage RMX) Anyone remembers Speed Garage btw? Always up for trading some cd's I'd love to see what a track like "Doubble 99 - Ripgroove" or "187 Lockdown - Gunman" would do to a dancefloor on a psy-party... Maybe look for one of those on Soulseek, kiddies
  4. Nice "broadband" selection! It sure would be great if progressive trance would combine powers with the less-psychedelic genres at parties. But of course without losing the anything-goes-attitude, +15hrs parties & the friendly faces... Question: is there any CD where I can catch the Atmos track on? I know it's unfashionable these days but I've never been a dj (even in my techno&house days) , vynil nor cd...
  5. Just got this one yesterday & unlike DP I prefer CD1 to CD2. Bought this one as kind of a "tribute" to the label that brought me timeless classic's as Vibrasphere, Atmos & more recently the absolutely brilliant Gaudium. This is a nice retrospective I think, as I don't have the money to go & buy their entire back-catalogue Don't really care much for the Hux Flux or Logic Bomb-tracks, but at least the cd doesn't focus only on 1 style...
  6. Got this one for 9€ in sales somewhere. Very decent comp! For me it's absolutely the Paste-track that takes the cake! Think the first track of Laureth's Widescreen is al so theirs. Fresh sounds & buildibng tension: great stuff! Looking forward to hearing a lot more of them in the near future.
  7. About time to cash in on my "buy-10-get-10%-off" arrangement in the local psy-store (www.kairoo.com)! So I got the Spiral Trax-retrospective-comp for 6€! http://www.discogs.com/release/430760 Prefer CD1 (Vibrasphere, Atmos, Ticon-rmx,...) but always nice to get some faster stuff for free on CD2 (Hux flux, Logic bomb,...)

I'm stil thinking about the Matenda VS X-Dream exchange. Gonna listen to Matenda once more over the week-end Tetraktys I'd like to hear in mp3 first, got high hopes for that one too. Only know some of their trax. What style is it? Nice prog or banging Psytek?
  9. Yeah fully agree. Ok, but some yerars ago I let one of my Pink Floyd-loving-friends listen to "One of these days" & he didn't even recognise it Too bad they don't play that one live anymore one of my all time fav's. good rmx'es: euh, "Summer of Love" by Lani is the first thing that comes to mind & the Apoptygma Brezerk rmx of Front242's "Headhunter". But then again, I really like both originals too

  12. aaaaiiiiiiit: freak-fight! Progressive to me = everything that's NOT typical "Psychedelic Trance" minus "Chill Out". Radio has: darker, mechanical sound, heavier bass, less melodies, more rhythms, no happy-happy-joy-joy atmosphere, no Goa/Hindu/Buddha/Spiritual-stuff at àll => for me it's Progressive. Call it whatever you want & then put on Irritant & think about it. Further more I spend the biggest part of 1999-2000 discussing what style something was & why it did or didn't "kick ass" or "suck". I'd like to think I moved on in the las 5 years There's only 2 kinds of music these days: the kind I like (often progressive) & the kind I don't... btw: I forgot these ones earlier: Haldolium: H2 & VA: Widescreen, compiled by DJ Laureth VA: Revive, both excellent compil's on Plusquam
  13. True timeless classic's should include (imo): Vibrasphere: Lime Structure SBK: Treibstoff Element: Full Moon (vocals don't have to suck!) Freq: Strange Attractors Son kite: Colours Ticon: Aero Atmos: Headcleaner X-dream: Radio & instant "Record of 2005": Gaudium: Nordic Nature
  14. I do like the original & I don't like their RMX, BUT they did make an effort towards creating something new insterad of playing copy-cat. It's just a pretty weak proggy track spiced up with a well-known sound. Like "A Different Perspective" by Indika (sampling A Forrest by The Cure) What I do blame them (K&C) for is that they were one of the pioneers of this awful trend Now let's just hope Seb Krueger releases the new Element cd pretty soon (should be in September!) & then all is forgiven If Element has a RMX on there too, I will have no choice but to quit psy-music all toghether! (Just kidding, so don't get your hopes up, all of you )
  15. Well of course tastes may differ, my friend. For me personally the was the worst part of their set & as for crowd reaction as a token of quality: "I wish" skazi brutal rmx & Paranormal Attack's version of "Seek & Destroy" were making ppl go insane on any dancefloor they were played, but that doesn't make them great tracks imho. Sadly, many ppl like something just because they can sing it along from the 1st time they hear it The main thing for me is that there is a huge difference in taking a sample (be it vocal or not) from a wellknown mainstream song & creating something new with it, like "80's virus" by Dino Psaras OR just taking the whole song, slapping a psy-kick on it, adding a (anti-)climax or 2 & letting the Isra-highschool-kids jump-for-joy like all mentioned above. The first involves creativity & making an effort, the second is just cashing in on what somebody else created & enjoying the ride. Still, to each their own, but if somebody hears stuff like that & tells me "Goa is for kids" then I can hardly disagree...
  16. a REAL old one, no psy involved: back from when every style of electronic music was called "house" in Belgium Joe T. Vanelli feat Csillia: "Play with the voice" The part where she screams at the top of her lungs makes my eyes moist, even by thinking of it. Many memories connected to this one... There were many versions of this song, but you'll know which one I mean if you're familiar with this timeless classic. About the same style as Humate-"Love Stimulation" or Visions of Shiva-"How much can you take?" (don't get me started on those )
  17. Meant his one earlier: http://www.discogs.com/release/425008
  18. I hate this stuff man!!! it's like a virus & everybody want's to get infected (get it ) It just shows that many of the artists out there are no different from Gabba's in the late 90's trying to make a Hardcore track out of just about anything. Hoping that the public would like something, just cause they know it. Sickening, lazy & just against everything the whole psy-movement stands for.. But there's more unfortunately even in the proggy department: Hatz are turning by Krueger & Coyle is a lame Midnight Oil rip-off & @ Waldfrieden Wonderland, Sally Doollally played a rmx of "Come as you are" PLEASE STOP THIS NONSENSE NOW! It's not funny it's ridiculous... somone made a track with the lyrics of 2Unlimited's "Tribal Dance". This is just total proof of lack of creativity. Sad thing is that if you play stuff like that on a dancefloor, it really explodes. Come one man, if you're really into GOOD MUSIC, things like that should make your ears bleed, no? One rmx I don't really hate is "Summer of Love" by Lani, that gives a psychedelic twist to the Sisters of Mercy's classick Temple of love. But then again that was one hell of a tune, unlike Mc Hammer or Offspring.
  19. "Bug Powder Dust" that's been a looooooooooooooooooooong time, man. Too bad I can't plat music @work...
  20. Got "Wireless" by DJ Laureth (Plusquam) yesterday in the sales for 8€
  21. you play rhythm & sound-stuff? even Maurizio? DAMN. Talk about a wide range of music! I'm not a dj but I have a lot of their stuff in those typical Basic Channel metal-cases. Thought I was the only psy-head to like that stuff too
  22. If you wanna hear GREAT mixing, try checking out Bim D-Nox Emok Banel Peter Dijital James Monroe Sally Doollally DJoanna & Alice D Montagu & Golkonda Special tip: DJ Gavin from Digital Structures!! Thàt guy rocked Rhytms of Peace All progressive yet psychedelic & they all spin both records for far more than the usual 20sec fade in/out. It's true that progressive music or tribal stuff is smoother to mix than trying to layer 2tracks with 2melodies each nicely ontop of eachother. But very often that's just an excuse for lazy & incompetent dj's not to make an effort (cfr Chicago at Boom2004, such a shame!) But it càn be done: Dimitri Nakov is a great dj, although I don't like his taste in music.
  23. Well you can send one to tox@psychedelic.be if you want. Keep up the good work with Psyreviews, always a pleasure to read something from an INDEPENDANT source!
  24. Gaudium - "Nordic Nature": http://www.discogs.com/release/490914 First artist album on Spiral Trax in a year & the waiting definately paid of! My album of 2005 so far. All those who think Jaïa - "Fiction" is the best progressive to come out this year should also give this baby a listen... Best stuff since Freq's "Strange attractors" imo! Will get to full review when I can find the spare time, so do me a favour & get the ball rolling already? (** DP? **)
