  1. Kick Bong - Pure Love (from Chiller Vol 1)
  2. Well that's not what i heard... Simon is a big fan of chuck norris. Actually to show Him his respect he made the best kick sample he could and offered it to chuck. It was to be used as the sound of chuck's roundhouse "kick"in His movies... Chuck liked it a lot so as we all know He wrote shamanix and gave it to hallucinogen.. and it became a huge success... Simon was determined to thank chuck by naming his second album "The Texas Ranger". He told chuck so...But chuck is so great that said : "You don't have to do that simon..." "Just put me on the thankslist...." "Besides, this ain't no psychedelic album name..." So Simon asked: "What should i call it master...?" And the man replied : "You shall call it 'The lone deranger'.......... And so was done... But something went wrong when the booklet was being printed and they forgot to put chuck norris on the thankslist.... Chuck got really furious... So he kicked Simon in the face and cursed him not to ever again release a Hallucinogen album... 11 years have passed since "Lone Deranger" and it seems like the curse is still alive... :drama: Conclusion : Simon is #1...but Chuck Norris is #0
  3. Something new : Vibrasphere - Baltic Resonance (Solar Fields remix) and something older : Phony Orphants - Papa Chango I agree on Atmos tracks.. also add KNS for me
  4. Is the compilation still open? Do you accept ambient - downtempo stuff? Cheers...
  5. I have an Edirol PCR-50, but i wouldn't suggest you buy one of those. I confirm what others said...bad quality... 2-3 of the keys aren't (after a year of use) working unless you press them so hard that you break your finger... :pissed: Next time i buy one it will be a korg or novation i suppose...

    Ott - Skylon

Artist: Ott Release Title: Skylon Label: Twisted Records Release date: January 2008 Tracklist 1. From Trunch To Stromness 2. The Queen Of All Everything 3. Rogue Bagel 4. Daisies And Rubies 5. Signals From Bob 6. 382 Seaside 7. Rolfcopter 8. A Shower Of Sparks Review First of all i love Ott's music. Blumenkraft and In Dub are two of my favourite albums ever. So i 've been expecting Skylon to rock my world once again. I wanted Skylon to be just like his previous albums but in the same time fresh and different. Superb production, great melodies, nice progression and rythms that make you move in a eastern-indian-dub way. And so i wasn't dissapointed. Skylon has all of the above mentioned ingredients and from the first time i listened to it, i was almost sure that i was going to love it. But...after some more carefullly listening, i wasn't suprised in a way i would like to. Some tracks make me feel like i'm listening to Blumenkraft. From Trunch To Stromness for example : The opening track is building slowly and slowly with a strange melody in the beginning that reminds me of something deeply held in my subconscious. I can't remember what it is but it reminds me of my childhood...(lol). The progression of the track is almost identical with the opening track in Blumenkraft. Long intro, slowly fading in drums and bassline and a slow tempo dub rhythm. Lovely track but ....well... i say ok, lets move on... The Queen Of All Everything Next track starts slowly again, and looks like a psychedelic rock ballad. The vocal sample is masterfully processed and placed in the track so that in no time, you are moving your head forth and backwards, not realising how skillfully the drumbeat entered in the track. It's not over yet...the second movement is breaks in with a shpongle-like melody and continues until it reaches the sky! Well i say ... this is why i love this man! Huge track! Rogue Bagel Most of you have probably listened to this one before. This is quite a typical Ott track with a couple of indian-like samples which unfortunatelly (for me) have been used before again and again... I don't really like this one but i can't stop listening to it...! It's so damn catchy! But i recon that it is based upon the premade samples. That's why it doesn't impress me. I'll press the next button... Daisies And Rubies I have to admit that this man is a genius in using sampled vocals. Again we have an allready known sample but it is so well placed and formed that for a moment i didn't realise i've heard it before. So this time it won't spill the track for me. Great melodies and dub feeling that makes you wanna dance. Nice..! Signals From Bob The Ott you all know is back again. That's not bad but i can't find something new on this track. The sitar (or whatever its name is) pretty much the same and the bassline too. Suprisingly the track becomes more and more interesting after minute 5 in which the dreamy melodies take over the place. It feels so warm now, i can't leave it....lol Hmm....i don't know...mixed feelings about this one... 382 Seaside The singing of a siren leads us to the seaside. Lovely vocals and some nice fat leads that make this track special. It has all it needs to make you feel warm and free...I can't describe it any more. You have to listen to it. Rolfcopter Something's going on here...it's like the even number tracks want to reveal a new Ott and the odd ones aren't leaving this to happen....hmmmm number 7 is an odd one... come on, next track. A Shower Of Sparks This is really "odd"!!! The closing track is amazing. The bassline is not a classic dub one here and there are no sitars here. The presence of the flute sound does the trick, before the vocals arrive to take you to sky again. Great psychedelic signals in the middle holding you until the last breaking which is fully emotional and nostalgic. I love it.... Overall : This album is definatelly worth it. I feel a little confused however, cause it could really be the ultimate comeback.. Anyway it won't dissapoint most of you i beleive. Favourites : the odd... 2,4,6,8 p.s. 1 This the first time im fully reviewing an album so any comments are welcome...but don't be harsh... p.s. 2 It's really hard to express my feelings in another language than my native. One can easilly find words about objects but hardly about emotions
  9. I listen to this album late at night before i sleep (on headphones), and it soothes me soooo...! Really smooth ambient and a lot of unique sounds! Good job... p.s. Thanks for the Thinner link! I'll check it out!
  10. Psytrance 1. Vibrasphere - Exploring The Tributaries 2. Logic Bomb - Sonic Algebra 3. Solar Fields - Earthshine 4. Prometheus - Corridor of mirrors 5. Gaudium - So Called Life Sweedish empire... :posford: Ambient/Chill 1. Younger Brother - The Last Days Of Gravity 2. Sync24 - Source 3. Asura - Life2 4. The Orb - The Dream (Jot got that and loving it....reminds me of the old Alex Patterson stuff in L.S.D. recs) 5. Pitch Black - Rude Mechanicals I excluded compilations to make this easier...but it's still hard for the ambient list...maybe i'll change it some time...
  11. This album is really special for me. Been waiting to listen to the whole first track since sonica 2006, when Magnus had played it in his live set. So i clicked on the play button and let my self go back in to the 2006 Summer Totally blown away!!! This is the definition of a trance party track!Couldn't keep my self on my chair so i stood up and started raving! And then came a Kick from the Back!!!Oh my god this man is crazy!...Still raving (amazing acid line and groove) Then another hit from a Black Arrow comming from the '90s!I mean this is progression! Brainbow, Spectral Nation & Adjustment : If you' ve listened to Solar Fields' ambient albums then you'll probably see that these tracks are like the opposite of what [Extended] was supposed to be. Instead of streching out tempo, he pushes ambience to a beating-grooving direction.Totally new stuff. Months passed and we are on February. Nice time for psytrance! No words to describe this one... Last but not least a beautifull morning Cruise to end this soul exploration. You may chill out after this one.... [9/10] Peace.
  12. Well i agree with amphiton... This is not what i expected. Of course this could be, because i hate the sound of some arabian-mid eastern pipes (Don't know their english names ) and this album is full of them. Of course their previous albums had alot of ethnic elements , but i think they were more carefully placed beneath the electronic surface. Of course this is a top level album in general, but not a top shulman album like amphiton said. Take it easy.. p.s. Double post by mistake...sorry, please mods delete one of those

  14. Some (older) tracks that come into my mind : Atmos - Klein aber doctor Andromeda - Atmonizer Human Blue - Rollercoaster Lish - Outsiders Phony Orphants - Rise Son Kite - On air And acts like : Behind Blue Eyes, Liquid Soul, Shadow FX, Gaudium etc... Check Digital Structures records and Iboga Records. You should find what you re looking for... Cheers..
  15. I agree totally... Maybe some of the artists are trying to avoid cheesy melodies and dancey basslines and they do it so well that in the end they remove much of the feeling. Anyway i'm not dissapointed of this album, but i feel a little sad cause it's so good that could be even better. Peace
  16. Outstanding production, nice progression, 2-3 great tunes but... it lacks the excitement other releases have imo... It didn't make me smile or get up from my chair. Great, great and again great... but what the heck is missing here??Maybe to sophisticated sound layering for me to understand...
  17. IMO this album is a unique and brilliant piece of music. I just love it. It's different than anything else we heard from Simon & Benji, but better than i have expexted. The only thing i miss are the uptempo younger brother tracks. I hope they give us a full psytrance album in the future... 9/10. Peace.
  18. Who cares if it's ambient or trance or chill or, or.. ..or .. .. Genres are for librarians....! I just call it downtempo! Ultimae is my personal best "downtempo", along with LSD (but i hate their new artwork.... :wank: ) Every release of them is a fine piece of art. Inspired music, top notch production, great artwork, great people... My favourite release of 'em (not sure though, cause i love all of them ) : Solar Fields - Reflective Frequencies (This is by far the most amazing space trip i ever listened to... Launches from earth goes through many distant galaxies and lands on an other dimension world) Peace.
  19. That's how progressive trance should be...! Great album, love it! Great production, warm melodies, carefully selected psychedelia and nice album flow... :clapping: p.s. First time i listened to it, didn't look at the track names (as i usually do... ) Track 1. begins... i went like .. and said to myself : What a suprise!!.... soooo nice!!!! .... Track 9. begins.... i say : "now Sit back, and relax.." !!!!!! So simple track names but so true...
  20. Liked them both but "Gaudium's - So called life" wins for me in this style. Check it out! Upbeat: Prometheus - Corridor of mirrors Vibrasphere - Exploring The Tributaries Logic Bomb - Sonic Algebra Chill: Asura - Life 2 Dymons - Druids Brew VA - Bioluminescence Dreadlock Tales - Synchronicity Sync24 - Source VA - Cosmik Chill - Orange All of these until now... Will add Younger Brother, Shulman, and Solar Fields for sure...
  21. "Soundscapes..." is one of my favourite ambient albums ever. "In search ..." was very good too, and "Random Thoughts" was.... random...?! The new samples sound really interesting, but a little more ethnic than i expected. I think 7th track "Mia nihta mono den ftani" is a remix of a greek song....? I don't get it...

    Secede - Tryshasla

Almost masterpiece... Thanks for this great music. Too bad we can't find a real copy of this one, the artwork is great also...
  23. Same in Sonica, last year... he played 3 upbeat tracks if i remember well. All of them were wicked! You could also check vibrasphere - baltic resonance (solar fields remix) from Archipelago remixed album. Great remix! I guess i'll have to hold me breath!
