  1. So the RYM Box Set project was started on the music database rateyourmusic (RYM for short) now known as Sonemic. It's a group project to highlight the essential artists, albums, and tracks for every music genre + scene. The ultimate guide to music genres. 11 Years+ Now!. It's as easy a way to explore a genre as it gets and is a chronological mixtape with a purpose. It was created on 2009 and is still being very actively worked and expanded by a multitude of people. It has over 1,000 genre sets with nearly 1,300 discs worth of music. Many of these are stream-able on YouTube and Spotify. I helm that project and while we've always had a few sets for psytrance, many of those are the more traditional splits. Goa and Psy-Trance has often been lumped together instead of separated (even my main set needs some re-doing). Dark, Progressive, and Full On more recently acknowledged. I've made a few sets in the past few years to reflect the subgenres off Trance and Psy-Trance based off the sources out there. I'm always up for improving my existing sets and getting to these newer ones but would also love to get some help from the experts here if possible. I have a few upcoming sets in draft and in order on discogs. https://www.discogs.com/user/freewave/lists but the rest of the subgenres under Psychedelic Trance are all linked on the main list and below on RYM in much more detail Goa Trance / Psytrance Psybient Nitzhonot Suomisaundi Full-On Psytrance Progressive Psytrance Psy Tech Dark Psytrance Forest Psytrance New School GOA Twilight Psytrance Zenonesque Hi-Tech Psytrance / Psycore If an album is a solid choice, then it just needs an ideal track to represent that genre best. If you think I need to add something or remove something, let me know. Ultimately experts on this forum will know much more than I will what best represents each subgenre then I ever will and many quotes have been included to give an oral history of the genres and the importance of the selections. . If anyone would like to help I'd love to best reflect them in depth and accurately. Even feedback after I do put out a new set this month on RYM. Thanks!

  3. hello to all, gee this is a ghost thread these days isn't it? once apon a time it used to be booming with buying and selling, i guess a strong indicator that cd format is a dying breed. saying that i am still very much a cd enthusiast, and as alot of you golden oldies here know once apon a time i had alot of cds, and sold alot also to fund life challenges, but have always kept most of the ones i love (exception the rare ones which i could only part with for a decent price to make my loss slightly more bearable) well scatterbrain - infernal angel is def one of them i could never part with and seems i have worn it out now and jumps around like a billy goat on heat. so i am looking for another one, now prob is it's extremley hard to find and when i do it selling for a weeks rent and a sunday roast, so i am calling on anyone who has it in their collection, maybe no longer likes it, or is a digital fan like most these days and just not got around to or can't be bothered selling it and just gaining evil dust on your weary lopsided shelf. funny thing is i do have it backed up somewhere on a hard drive but i no longer have technology to burn a cd, what's with that??? i don't have alot of money to spend on it, but could maybe try to look through my collection and do a trade/part trade etc ( i do have some goa on vinyl also) i bought it when was released for about $20 and i guess it's now worth more as it was more limited than some of the others. spoke to various people associated with digital psionics and no luck there. so calling on anyone here who could maybe help me out (remember those great deals i use to give when selling hint hint) calling on karma right now with no expectations anyway thanks for reading if anyone is (tumbleweed just flew past me) boom

  5. Once again big thanks! This is great stuff to learn from, straight From the Source, together with the BPM and Key available on Beatport.com Btw speaking of BPM for Goa Trance these days, what do you guys reckon, is 150 BPM as some of the Dimension 5 tracks are in, a good tempo for todays listener/dance floors etc? One track is even in 161 bpm according to beatport. Dunno if it’s correct tho. As sometimes the bpm are wrong when intro is dedected as a lower bpm for some tracks.

  8. thanks man, yeah getting lonely alright, how i see it, so many people now have ditched cds and they just gathering dust and wasting away, yes literally deteriorating which i think with over use contributed to mines demise, i on the other hand listen to them every day and don't do digital, and as this is one of my favs hoping to get it back again, not willing to pay those kind of discog prices especially now with covid etc, will cost even more with post here to australia. so hoping someone here could see my situation, i never expect anything in return, but have done the same for so many here over the years was hoping for some sort of karmic return, but i get the pull of possessions and the power it can have, and maybe i just not meant to have it again, but always hope

  9. No one asked or wanted to participate or makes his own try on the midi as far I can tell Still working on it, would say on Aprils Fool Day I have a raw version ready - I aimed for a 90ties feel. I can work 2-3 hours / day on music, sometimes only every 2nd day so my progress is slow...But I now have a method to not start new tracks anymore and finish existing ones: I strictly only work on 3 tracks at a time. Means cycling through them - running out of ideas or get bored at No.1 go to the 2nd and so on. When you arrive again at track 1 you might have refreshed yourself and make progress on this one again.. Btw, there is a 303ish wave which has quite low volume, is there a special reason?

  10. Well your new midi (thanks!) can be opened directly with my DAW by "right click/open with" and voila now also the 138 is set automaticly. I started over with your 2nd midi, as the 1st try as said already seems more in the indus/dark techno direction which is not the forums main topic, so hardly could be a "Psynews Track". There was also not much left from your midi.. This one should sound a bit more goa.... as no one voted for a sample I already found one (drug related, it does not promote drugs ofc), now only need time and muse to complete the song Still time for everyone who wants to contribute something ...you can use either the 138 or 135 - possibly 2 mixes can be made, one long and a shorter with slightly different bpm
