Lemmiwinks
OK so latley I've been hanging around with a goth, she's been asking me to show her the kind of music that I listen to and I've played her some psytrance and she was like "but this is goth without singing"... I was like WTF are you taking about??? Then she showed me some stuff, I must say I'm pretty impressed, what do you guys think? Know of anything else like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zsd5CMzpfys&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymTwKLrYps8
Ormion
Ask her why she prefers a music with so ultracheesy vocals.
Penzoline
The music can be good but the lyrics make me just facepalm.
Otto Matta
Reminds me of newer Juno Reactor, except not as "cinematic."

The music can be good but the lyrics make me just facepalm. hehe it's funny you guys mention that because when I played her psytrance she was like "ok, this would be good IF IT HAD SOME VOCALS IN IT"... I guess it's just a different way of percieving the music. Reminds me of newer Juno Reactor, except not as "cinematic." didn't think about it but not that you mention it, it DOES sound pretty "Juno-ish", I guess we now know where he gets his inspiration from
Arronax
I love these seasonal darkers who love gore and biohazard / nuclear disasters I can just imagine how "cool" would they look while they hair is falling off while their guts are being boiled due to high radiation levels I bet they would be the first ones to run and hide in the underground vaults if anything similar happened. Concerning the music, it's ultra-cheesy, reminds me of VIVA TV in late 90's

Agneton
The specific genre we're talking about is Synthpop/Futurepop. I like it a lot, initially because of the melodies, after some time you get used to and are able to appreciate vocals too however, as long as they go not too screamy. Some nice fellows in this style: *Mind.In.A.Box *Fractured *VNV Nation (obviously!) *Asphyxia *Apoptygma Berzerk (old stuff...their new music is like some kind of poprock) *Suicide Commando *Flesh Field
LuisBSF
That stuff is EBM or even Industrial, I wouldn't call it goth. Goa dips on those genres among others btw not the other way around. I love this tune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33lKu_xDzgU Kinda ebm kinda industrial kinda noize kinda aggro, there are many related subgenres in there. Agneton
What I particulary like in this kind of tunes is the massive snares they use...like in that tune Starry posted . Another one, without creepy vocals , maybe too cheezy for some though: That snare on 1:17 is so smashing , I want to use them in my Nitzhonot tracks! I believe it's some kind of old reworked Disco snare...dunno...
LuisBSF
Big decaying blunt snares are my current favorite SC is class, had the joy of seeing him last year in London. Serious business. How about Painbastard? This tune is awesome and it's inspired me more than once: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=px8rwjh7O4Y

Penzoline
*VNV Nation (obviously!) *Apoptygma Berzerk (old stuff...their new music is like some kind of poprock) Goddamn nostalgia. Before I learned of psy/goa I did always like electronic, whenever I found something that was electronic and sounded at least ok I checked it out(A LONG TIME AGOOOOOoooOOoo) VNV Nation - Electronaut Live http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsIq0ziAqiU EPIC, just.. E P I C. The best electronic track I had heard to date back then, I was in love. It's still a stomper tbh. btw, synthpop? Freezepop!!! Goddamn that brings memories. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewOToS0fxb8&feature=related
needle ninja
Ask her why she prefers a music with so ultracheesy vocals. Haha YEA I have been around this scene in Seattle and I get so sick of the ultra-dumb lyrics that I just can't listen for more than a minute or two. I am a purist that believes the underground should have smart lyrics or none at all.
Anakoluth
Reminds me of newer Juno Reactor, except not as "cinematic." Last year Juno Reactor toured with the EBM cult-act Laibach. Most cheesy vocals ever (Eins, zwei, drei, vier, komm schon Baby tanz mit mir - One, two, three, four, come on baby dance with me). One thing I also dislike is the kind of imaginery and symbolics a lot of those bands use. Always makes a lil militaristic impression to me. Some of the music posted here sounds to me like mobilization music for the war of commies agains nazis. But that's just me. Also I don't know jackshit about all of that. So, sorry for my sweeping blow here
Agneton
Ah well, it's all just music, personally I don't pay attention to often to the texts...i do believe stuff such as VNV Nation tries and achieves in providing strong lyrics though. @ Penzoline: Yeah baby, that Electronaut track is tha shit! One of my personal favorites too!

Mindphilux
i think one of the best examples of this is velvet acid christ's "twisted thought generator" album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bvk_ADhs7nQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ce6NCcHDEI&feature=related
qa2pir
Most of it seems quite obsolete. I would not compare it with psytrance - it shares the 4/4, upbeat emphasis but not much else. There are good tracks though, such as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CCyvQxjiqE (still with the cheesy self-absorbed transcendence imagery though)
LuisBSF
It's part of the deal I'm afraid. I do love a bit of cheese from time to time though.

Darkarbiter
Velvet acid christ actually deliberately copies goa trance though. I didn't like his stuff, it's like ok... it's goa... with a minute and a half breakdown yet the tracks only go for 4 minutes. wtf. I think it's more that EBM influenced goa trance AND a lot of ebm takes heavy influence from euro trance. And they're both sortof dark... so you end up with some similar things. You could certainly mix some EBM stuff into a goa trance set though. Suicide commando's 90s stuff is good btw.
