Nice compilation I bought for only one track : Waiting for a new life, which I

like a lot and is not on the albums by Total Eclipse. Scarab is very good, but

present on lots of compils.

This is a resonable compilation with a lot of weird-junk tracks.Very hard for a

goa novice to understand this kind of music with the first chapter of "

Distance to Goa" ! Nevertheless,i really enjoy Total Eclipse #1 track,#5 of

course !, #6 (average-good) and #8 some sort of a heavy cosmical goa track.All

the rest isn't really music and there is no sense of creativity either.

Rating : 6.5/10

Most tracks on this compilation sound dated but there are some very good tracks

too. The best one is the classic, Waiting for A New Life by Total Eclipse and

it still sounds fresh. The Slinky Wizard song is fantastic too with really

cool vocal samples and weird and fat acid lines. Another song by Total Eclipse

is good too although the screaming samples are very childish...The Prana track

is good too but not really mind-blowing. Other songs range from boring to

average and some of them are really unoriginal...Cliched TB-303 sounds and

melodies that give you nothing at all...So an average album and worth getting

if you don't have the good songs on other CDs.-Clark

'Waiting for a new life' And 'Scarab' are the best tracks.

'Far beyond speech', 'Euromotors' And 'Exquisite sin' are really good!!! In

fact, all tracks are not bad!

I Love the two Total Eclipse tracks... Unfortunately that's the only two really

good tracks, others are quite mediocre.

Good old compilation with some great tracks.

Best are Far Beyond Speech (one of the best TE tracks!), Scarab, Euromotors, Hard Knee and of course The Return Home a beautiful, emotional track.

According to Discogs this came out in 1995

I like compilations where all of the songs are new and haven't been taken from albums I already own. Either way I haven't heard these songs before.

The Total Eclipse tracks are really good, especially Far Beyond Speech (!!!) which is superb IMO. Everyone has their favorites though.

Favorite tracks: 1, 4, 10

haha that was my review.

and you know what... Slinky Wizard : Wizard is one of the best goa tracks ever made IMO. I prefer this track to most Hallucinogen tracks, above LSD, Shamanix and others, personal taste of course

i mean the track is slow, not overwhelming it might sound a bit empty compared to other tracks but that's just perfect and got one of the most emotional melody in a goa track. One could say it is morning goa. Genius. Nice video by the way.

I would rate Slinky Wizard over Hallucinogen any day. Every track by Slinky Wizard is brilliant and the Wizard here is a great example of trance music.

I've been listening to this a lot recently, maybe as it's just after Darshan - Awakening on my music player. All tracks are good but as usual Slinky Wizard takes the prize.

That's how great wars have started in the past :).

Speaking about CD, my favourites are: both Total Eclipse and Slinky WIzard. Hard to realize it's been TWO DECADES ago . Earth is getting old faster and faster.

Yeah I know music is subjective, but I think you're all high. Like...really high. Like that guy who's house is floating away with balloons.

"Yep, there goes the Psynews community..."

This is twenty years old and a lot of the tracks sound like it. Dated and taking forever to goa short distance. See what I did there? So clever. It's a combination of goa trance and the verrrry early days of goa trance. The Slinky Wizard track is king for me and Scarab is great too, but after that...like a club at 5 in the morning.

Slim pickings.

And saying that Waiting for a New Life is one of the better Total Eclipse tracks is like saying black licorice is better than a cauliflower floret. There are no winners there. I'll pass on this one.

I like your balloon humour :)

However I think you have been a little bit harsh here. After Scarab there is Euromotors. Don't you like this? Most oldschoolers praise this slightly unknown gem.

Waiting For A New Life is my favourite Goa track and is a favourite classic. Far Beyond Speech is also very good if you ask me. And to round it off, the compilation has an amazing acid trance classic, Exquisite Sin, with a mesmerising 303.

I know it's a matter of taste but remember that most of this music was done in 1994 so is far from easily digestible if you are fairly new to trance. Music here sounds extremely dated but it's still a sweet compilation.

I just don't find any of the tracks outside of the ones I mentioned anything special. They're ok, but most of them come and go without any depth for me. Parts of the track were pretty good, but as a whole none of them stayed with me. As you said to each his own.
