As refreshing and as tasty as a daiquiri, Hydroponic Garden is the must-have trance/chill-out album either for bringing with you in hollydays or for those who want to travelling without moving from their home through the 11 softfull sonic journeys proposed by the 2 swedish guys (Johannes Hedberd & Daniel Ringstrom) from Carbon Based Lifeforms. shahar@isratrance
What an opening- I recommend to leave a few candles in the room, turn off the light and turn up the volume- like crossing an unseen curtain to another dimension- foo! And on the other side awaits you a mellow alien atmosphere, which oozes out of this piece of plastic. You just cross and start your journey. And do not worry if it is a hot day, because here it's chilled, almost physically chilled, everything here is blue and aquatic, watery, it's dripping! Wonder around through the soundscapes and you'll discover weird and beautiful places and creatures- it's all there in your mind, and here's the music to extract it out. I just love this beautiful album of this Swedish duo. It's very relaxing, very emotional, very musical- almost visual, yet very powerful. These guys now how to create music and sounds that really touch you inside. And when your music has a strong feeling in it, when it can really touch something inside, it's there to stay. And I know that this is an album that is gonna stay with me for long. I will listen to it in times I'll feel like immersing myself in sounds that paints another world, in times I'll need to chill or cool down, in times I want to feel. Bottom Line: Feel the chill! My best chill album of the summer, so far. Favorites: 1(!!!), 2, 3(!), 4, 8, 9, 10(!), 11.

It has some quite simple formula.IT sooths the soul.the tracks have only what they need to function giving it the genious formula to touch us deep.Less shaping and more into slow Rythms but with some very nice melodic parts. Tracks to remember. MOS 6581 is probably on my all time top 10 on ambient.Trully remarkable. CENTRAL PLAINS , NEUROTRANSMITER ... Try to sleep on it.every track has it's own message and every one is a good one. If you like i recommend their DEMO album called "The Path". Guest Rain
This is too minimal and Dark Zoo is not ? 317163[/snapback] woooooooow but there's a difference between minimal ambient that almost has no bass line and minimal psy where you can count on the bassline... admit

abasio
Great album! The release of the 2nd album brought this one back to my attention & it is goooood indeed! My favourite is MOS 6581 -> gives me the shivers. But it's all good.
RTP
I second everybody's praising. For me Hydroponic Garden is without doubt the BEST psychedelic ambient album EVER! Many other Ultimae releases come close, but this one is the best. Not even the second one from CBL themselves could exceed it - although that one too is brillant. Song-by-song review is unnecessary in this case because every song on Hydroponic Garden is brillant and they're also brilliantly blended into each other. I LOVE THIS ALBUM! It deserves a solid 10/10 ... and that's a privilege I only give to a very, very few...
Chis
Great album. Wonderful ambient album. I'm very pleased that CBL have the taste to avoid "laptop-ambient/glitch" which is so popular these days. Hydrophonic Garden harkens back to the days of Gas (Mat Jarvis), Higher Intelligence Agency and Global Communication, and all those other wonderful ambient trance/techno albums from the mid-90s. Hydrophonic Garden is a tad repetitive, but the generally good melodies (Comsat, MOS 6581) make up for it. Lovely vocals here and there as well. Very glad to have this in digipak!! Jon Cocco
Slow, moody, quality chill album. Carbon Based LifeForms have a sound all their own. I can see how some will be drawn into this while others won't give patience. Many thoughts seem to be provoked here even though it's generally slower than my preferred downtempo or chill album. I've only heard the samples. Based on those this is good music to close your eyes and meditate too. Good backround music and music to get lost into. The fewer instruments and layers work well creating and projecting feelings here. Unfortunately it's unavailable! http://www.saikosounds.com/english/display...ase.asp?id=3438
