Ocean Star Empire - How Small We Are (Militant's Dreamscape Remix) 08:43 Militant is the solo project of Andre Muller. The Cape Town resident also forms an essential part of the management team of well-known international twilight label, Kaos Krew Records, a label that has over the last few years become a notoriously prolific force in full on psychedelic trance, releasing music from almost every corner of the globe. Since winning one of UP!Noize Records Remix Contests in April 2014, Militant has become quite the prolific producer himself, constantly striving for perfection and supreme quality Since then he has released tracks on 3 VA compilations, 2 solo artist EPs on Free Minds Records & UP!Noize Records respectively, a VS EP with Mexicos finest up & coming talent as well as his debut collaboration EP with Mr. Night Wolf under the SECRET COSMOS guise on Kaos Krew Records It was at this time that Militant came across the intriguing story and sounds of the Ocean Star Empire A legend of an ancient space-faring civilization from a planet made up mostly of water. They had technology that allowed them to only travel at sub light speeds, which made their expansion from their primary home world a slow one over the absolute vastness of space As a colony would mature, a new group would continue exploration to find the next habitable world. Over time as some colonies failed and others survived, many surviving colonies on the edge of expansion became completely isolated over time, with their origins, social and historic connections becoming more legend than fact On one of these colonies, about 200 light years from the original star, a tale of attrition & survival was unfolding. As many generations passed, hardships and the daily struggle for survival took precedence over everything else, and unstable volcanic and seismic activity led to the stark realization that the planet wasnt as suitable for long term colonization as originally thought Rifts grew between the colonists, and eventually a group decided to form a space convoy, but not in order to expand, but in order to find the original star and ultimately, their lost civilization, the Ocean Star Empire. There were sacred and ancient writings that spoke of 3 Dots On A Map, a reference to the location of this lost civilization, located at the peak of a triangle of stars, with the center coordinates marking the location of the Ocean Star, that galaxys source of intergalactic energy... During this time, they were reminded once again how big, desolate, isolated and melancholic space can be, and communication with other colonies, possible beacons was very difficult With their sub light technology, their journey through space was once again a very slow process, and they realized how small they were in the bigger scheme of the cosmos Living in space had become a psychological struggle, with depression, paranoia, anxiety, and passivity becoming the biggest problems on deep space voyages, and the sudden disappearance of an officer by the name of Nuno while exploring a small abandoned outpost on their journey, confounded panic, with some believing he had been abducted by unknown aliens. This leads to a frantic and fruitless search for Nuno There is already discontent in the convoy and further events lead to the rebellion in Module Seven. It was sometime after when Nuno suddenly returns as if he was never gone, even denying that he had not been away for some time, making him a suspected conspirator against the convoys leadership A distracting and welcome spiritual lift comes when the convoy passes near a breathtaking nebula on their portside, and as they drift by, the residents could not help but being mesmerized by its timeless beauty and filled with a new resolve to complete their quest, knowing that far beyond the farthest light is the domain of the galactic empire, hailing from the deep valleys of the Ocean Star, flowing down the river of time through the rise and fall of intergalactic civilizations... Communication is a path to a vision, vision ionized into action, and action is transposed into music, traveling the sonic wormholes through the golden times to the space age, with a deep respect to the hypnotic Goa giants of history and an eye towards the timeless future. Ocean Star Empire in association with Militant is proud to present this collection of Dreamscape Remixes, a definitive journey through the psychedelic and melodic explorations of powerful daytime production!!! 5. Hello Everyone! I recently applied for a volunteer position as a radio DJ and got accepted. My show will be featuring mainly genres of underground and alternative trance! Unfortunately, due to broadcasting guidelines, I need a certain amount of Canadian music per episode in order to keep the show running. I'd like to give anyone who would like some radio play the opportunity to send me their work, so that I may be able to feature it on my show once I start broadcasting. I am not making any money off of this show; I just love trance, and I want others to enjoy it too. I will be putting up more information about my show as it becomes available, I am just in the beginning stages. Once I start to broadcast, you can hear the episodes online for free anywhere in the world! Please feel free to send any questions or suggestions! Thank you!
  6. Artist: 2Minds Title: Wave Shell Label: Geomagnetic.TV Date: October, 2013 1. Vintage 2. Blue Magic 3. Mission to Mars 4. Goa Land 5. Wave Shell 6. Hindu 7. Deep and Warm 8. Viber 9. Eclipse 10. Blood Connection 11. Evil Echo 12. Ethnic Demonstration 13. Half Moon 14. Magic Carpet 15. The Last Travel I try not to make assumptions or jump to conclusions. I said I try. But I think we can all agree sometimes you're just stupid. In that vein I suppose I owe this project an apology. Two Israeli brothers making psytrance? Stop me if you've heard that one before. Paid them zero attention. Why do I wanna waste my time with cheesy full on? That horse has been beaten to death. I haven't been this wrong since, well... F*ck I just turned my kids room into a gay disco! And it's still too damn hot in here! Now I haven't heard the first album from these guys, but their second one is something you should be paying more attention to. It was a gift from the label Zion604 when I ordered their latest release. No cover, no case, just the music burned to a disc. Normally that would find itself buried amidst all the other music that I would probably never get around to. But something told me to give it a go. Good call. The first disc is psytrance oriented with midtempo rhythms and an eye for detail. Changes of direction are abundant as are the hopscotching of between genres. And I believe that to be their strength. The similarities to old Infected Mushroom are many and while none of these tracks are blasters they are fun to dive into with lots of evolution. Their brand of psytrance is nothing special (aside from a few tracks the first disc is rather weak), but throw in their penchant for variety and things get more interesting. Disc two is the prize for me, full of downtempo grooves that combine vastly varied rhythms in a detailed menagerie of sounds. The layers are thick with slow, cinematic thumping beats that don't flirt with goa, but engage in a full blown dry humping session on the new family couch. You're doing it wrong. Hump first then eat. Thick with changes in direction , it's like getting lost in a maze where treasure is around every corner. The who shebang is produced very well with all sounds being crystal clear. They seem to love long tracks and while that can be involving sometimes it feels as if they're lost in the woods and every tree looks the same. "No you go on ahead. I'm gonna...take a look at...something." *sound of fly unzipping* So the psytrance yeah it's all right, but the downtempo disc is really good. Thanks for the gift! Psyshop Beatspace Mdk
  7. Artist: Various Title: Psycho Acoustics Label: Reckless Rhythm Records Date: August, 2010 1. CPU - Waveform 2. Shift - Ice Age 3. Toxic Vs. Abomination - Unfinished Business 4. Seroxat - Who's The Enemy? 5. Wizard Lizard - Pain killer 6. Damage - Go Get Stupid 7. Combat - Mind Revolution 8. Sector D - Chain Reaction 9. Neuromotor - Free Mind In a Reckless World 10. Penta - Everybody Goes Crazy I believe there is a hierarchy for all things. For example pizza. It's all personal preference, but personally I like Pizza Hut for eating and Little Cesar's for doormat purposes. Cows eat grass, people eat cows, and dinosaurs eat people. That's a fact. When it comes to watching sports there's hockey, football, and then all the other crap. And don't hit me with soccer is the most popular around the world. Of course it is, you don't have to have any money to play it. It's a no brainer to choose soccer when you can't spend a month's wages on one f*cking skate. F*ck you don't even need shoes or a ball to play soccer. Didn't Pele kick a bunch of rags tied together? Hierarchy. Don't disturb it. Same goes for aliens. I personally believe they're not all created equal. Some are highly intelligent and takeover planets and then there are f*cktards like these who crash land in Alabama and get seen by drunk rednecks and then have to resort to anal probing. Think aliens want to probe your anus? Sounds like that job is saved for low organism on the totem pole. The debut compilation for this label certainly assembled some really well known names didn't they? And I think these pros saw this label and began to salivate. "Sure we'll sell you some of our latest tracks! Hot off the presses!" Suckers. For f*cks sake the Combat track was already 4 years old when it made it onto this spaceship. Meanwhile the tracks are hollow, shallow, rough drafts that are far from any of their best work. Every single one of them lack creativity or depth. No journey, no story just tired full-on. Why the f*ck should I care about a track when it's obvious the people who made it didn't give a sh*t? I think that cover says it all. Three aliens thinking they're going to take over this world when all they're really going to do is stick a metal pole up Cartman's fat ass. You've been Reckless Rhythmed. Psyshop Beatspace Mdk
  8. Artist: Various Title: Skydivers Label: Nutek Records Date: August, 2006 1. Madnetic - Off Topic 2. Absolum Vs. GMS - The Therapy (Live Rmx) 3. Bliss - Viking Craft 4. Sirius Isness - Mercury Retrograde 5. CPU - Close Your Eyes 6. Mekkanikka - Hill Bily Boy 7. V-Storm - Acid In My Fridge 8. Painkiller - Substain 9. Menog Vs. Space Tribe - Spiritual Experience 10. Painkiller Vs. Bliss - Goblin Fever One day I plan to attempt sky diving. Of course it'll be when the kids are all grown up and by that time I'll be old enough that I won't give a f*ck which way it turns out. Hopefully for the best, but you never know. This is the very first release from Nutek Records, a label which began in 2006 by former psytrance artist CPU. I say former because any psychedelic creativity from Sammy has been drop kicked over a cliff long ago. Have you heard his music lately? Pee-Yew. So of course this, the maiden voyage of the label is chock full of commercial full-on masquerading as night time acidic madness. And like those who have launched themselves out of a plane I immediately regret this decision. Don't be fooled by the tracklist. Repetitive samples, exhausting buildups, and plenty of mood killing stops and starts make this jumping out of a perfectly good plane without a parachute. It's a race to the bottom with craptacular efforts from all concerned with the trophy going to the sample heavy, vomit inducing Acid in My Fridge. It could go down as one of the top ten worst tracks of all time. That's quite an achievement considering how long full-on has been around, but rest assured it's well earned. The only track that I would consider saving is Spiritual Experience and you can find that track on the Kaleidoscopic Visions compilation. Therefore this disc is wholly unnecessary and I certainly would've nudged this bloated f*ck out of the plane before he got his chute on. First impressions are a fact of life and ever since this came out I cannot bring myself to listen to anything from this label. If you are so intent on making un-psychedelic music then why not just do something else? Promo: "10 mind blowing tracks that will bring some Nu-tek into your ears..." Oh hell no. I'd rather sit next to this guy. Psyshop Mdk
  9. Artist: Various Title: Electrosect Label: Atomic Records Date: July, 1999 1. Phreaky - Techno Prisoners 2. The Antidote - C3PO 3. Tortured Brain - Metallic 4. Apocalyptic - First It Was A Dream 5. Voodoo People - Baby Blue 6. Tim Schuldt - File Damage 7. EBSG - Take a Ride 8. Cydonia - Anaconda 9. Man With No Name - Equatoria Ugh. Nothing. Zippo. Big fat zero. I could not find a single track on this compilation that stuck with me. It's psychedelic trance with a techno spirit and you would think that with artists like Tim Schuldt and Cydonia there would be some engrossing tracks. Something evolving with twists and turns. Alas no. All of the tracks seem to drone on in an endless march towards the end of a cliff. I suppose it's ok for the first 30 seconds, but when you start looking to see how much time is left on each track it's not a good sign. Keep it moving people, nothing to see here. Mdk

  11. The Universal Religion is simply LOVE. We are privileged to be part of this great time of change in history and, as messengers of love we are responsible for making this new world blossom. It is an exchange of ideas, music, dance, sharing of energy, positivity and emotions which only seem to spread and grow further when the festival finishes. If even a thousand people were to return to their lives after experiencing the power of Universal Religion, and each one lived with the same philosophy as during the festival, the world would slowly start to seem a borderless place. One where family and friendships transcend nations, language, color, age and even blood, where an entire generation will live true to the ideas of oneness, love and mutual respect. This is the idea of a universal religion—one that is inclusive, gets recreated and gathers strength every year, as new energies enters its space. After taking a break for 2014 we are absolutely Reborn with lot of energy shifts and realization. In the lap of the Himalayas we build an environment which brings together beautiful like-minded individuals, music devotees, creative artists and dance lovers from around the world! Come, discover the mystical mountains, and be part of this special experience where you can enjoy the infinite natural vistas while dancing to the beats of the top audio wizards from around the world We invite all participants to respect the festival rules and be in harmony with all people and the surrounding environment to enhance their own personal experience in Nepal. The positive energy of a single person has the ability to make a change, and we at Universal Religion want to infuse this positivity back into the earth and the world, and in our own small way, help it to heal. This year the main festival will take place from Friday 24th – Monday 27th of April 2015 and will go on non stop for 3 nights and 4 days . After a several initial releases on Iboga, the duo crafted their own unique morning sound that resulted in releases on Tribal Vision, Flow, Plastic Park etc.. Shortly after, their debut album "Support Normality" Flowjob began touring the international trance circuit, playing around the world in countries like, Japan, Australia, Mexico, Brasil,Israel, Usa Canada and most countries in europe at festivals such as, Fusion, Glade, Maitreya, Full Moon, Midnight Sun, & Universo Parallello, and many others.. "Zentertainment" their 2nd album was released in 2008, with a more upbeat vibe.. Tracks like "Tomorrow Returns" and "Dont believe in Mirrors" quickly became dancefloor hits. In 2009, Mads left the project due to injuries that made long studio sessions and flights impossible. In 2011 came the third Album "Sway" on iboga Records, and after several EPs and compilation releases the 4th Album USB Ready came out in November 2013. 17. Artist: Digitnick Title: Virtualizer EP Label: Liquid Seed Recordings Date: January 30, 2015 01 - One Mantra (Digitnick Remix) (140 BPM) 02 - The Dark Passenger (142 BPM) 03 - Overview (144 BPM) 04 - Virtualizer Off (143 BPM) The cover of this ep could've just as easily been a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Or a white delivery truck with the words truck on the side. The promo says "provides an unexpected trip into pure psytrance full of colour and energy." No it doesn't. Stop lying to people. I think that's what you wanted the music to say, but this is an exercise in boredom with rolling basslines and snooze inducing arrangements that were done a decade ago. Nothing on this EP stands out. It's my opinion of course and it's worth about as much as a cracked CD case, but unless you're needing more background noise then you'd do well to spend your time elsewhere. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

  20. Artist: Maan Title: Robotic Swarm EP Label: DVSM Records Date: December, 2014 1. Swarms 2. Fleur de Synchrotron 3. Bionic Binoculars 4. Entomophobic Droid What's the biggest problem with darkpsy? "Ummm...it sucks?" No, that would be your mom. No, really what's the biggest problem with darkpsy? Inaccessibility. It's either over saturated with screechy sound effects, has a conspicuous absence of melody, or just devolves into a cacophony of noise and goes nowhere. Perhaps all three. Now I'm not picking on darkpsy here, but the darkpsy sound is what this label has focused on in the past. It has a devoted following, but at the same time it's hard for those that don't follow it to jump in and embrace it. But if you've been paying attention they've shifted gears and changed (or evolved) as all music eventually does. Releases like Kiriyama's Reach Escape Velocity and the compilation 71 degrees have kept it dark, but added some light and thereby attracted new listeners. Those two releases alone have shed some light on this label where I would've all but ignored it before. So here is one of their latest projects. Maan is Frode Ungar and his ep is a very varied mix of styles blended together with a dark atmosphere. Maybe darkpsy lite? Layered with sounds of the forest this is an ep any psychedelic fan can sink his teeth into. The darkness is well represented, but instead of being overbearing it's just a piece of the puzzle. That atmosphere enhances the sound and the listening experience. Goa touches are sprinkled within and melodies are heard, but all within the backdrop of a Norwegian forest. It's very well produced (mastered by Colin Oood) and all the subtleties are fully audible. I know it's a digital EP, but the cover done by Shiva3 is beautiful to look at. So perhaps this is a new direction for the DVSM label? It's been coming for awhile now and this release is an example of how to keep the tone dark while also allowing for the productions to have more depth. It's interesting to say the least and I would recommend this to anyone who is put off by the usual darkpsy sound. Good job. DVSM Bandcamp Mdk

    "VA - Life"

Artist: Various Title: Life Label: Crystal Matrix Records Date: June, 2004 1. Parasense - Oracle of Season 2. Xerox & Illumination - Night Shift 3. GMS Vs. Talamasca - High Vibe 4. U-Man - Static 5. Fungus Funk - Space Love 6. Joti (AKA Psychaos) - Spinner 7. Parasense - Ice 9 8. Seroxat - Witching Hour 9. Dissociactive - Antricide 10. Suria - One More Allow me to introduce you to one of the albums that helps makeup the "throw another one on the f*cking pile" of psytrance records. Man there sure have been a lot of those. And as we approached the middle of the last decade there seemed to be an explosion of those albums that couldn't wait to get to that pile. Full-on comprises most of it, but there is a good share of darkpsy and progressive as well. Crystal Matrix is the label responsible for this brick and I don't believe they are around any longer. They will always be known to me as the ones who gave us Excession by Shift. But this is not that. Not by a long shot. It's full of uninteresting full-on that doesn't really go anywhere. Yes I like the tribal element of Night Shift with that percussive whack, but talk about beating a dead horse. The bass line in Spinner is pretty nasty and the track itself has a dark, futuristic vibe. Totally Psychaos. But two tracks do not a compilation make. The tunes here aren't terrible, but they aren't special and serve solely as placeholders. Space fillers. The back end veers more toward the darkpsy spectrum, but the quality didn't improve. By the time Suria said one more, I was like...do I have to? I didn't have to delete this one off the hard drive. It f*cking jumped off. Psyshop Mdk
  22. Artist: Various Title: Moonkeys Label: Moon Spirits Records Date: March, 2004 1. GMS Vs. Sonic Surfers - Hyperspaced 2. Talamasca Vs. Dmitri DKN - Abstract Energy 3. Nomad - The Magic Sofa's Show 4. Omi Vs. Exaile - Going Commercial 5. CPU - Simulation 6. Sirius Isness - Psychedelic Love Stories 7. Silicon Sound - Voyager 8. Signs - The World Has Changed 9. Cell - Father What does it tell you when the GMS track is one of the most engaging? F*cking apocalypse that's what it means. Even the still clinging to his soul CPU track was underwhelming. I can remember listening to this a decade ago and really liking it. I've either grown up and matured or I was higher than a motherf*cker. Like Signs says The World Has Changed. Only, I wish they would've just said it instead of making a track out of it. I ain't that young anymore that I need to be wasting 8 minutes of time on annoying sounds. I have kids so I get that all the time. I would say the one track keeping this off life support was the closing Cell effort. It was smooth and relaxing making me forget the previous 8 tracks on the compilation. Didn't. Age. Well. Psyshop Mdk
