Biohacker - Fantasy Corner 06:32 What you can expect through this compilation is powerful rhythms together with dark, blissful and strident sounds, electric and intense atmospheres. Of course if you are into forest, you will be curious to go through this experience, and while this compilation is loaded with all the goodness necessary to please the most experienced forest fans, I want to emphasize the fact that it is particularly dark and energetic. You will not hear a lot of melodies or breakdowns, these ingredients that usually work well on dark psychedelic trance are rare, but we have spooky pads as a nice substitute. It is a matter of taste, I reckon this type of music is very effective for underground parties. I also want to praise: Veta Madre by Dark Elf, a mysterious gem of the genre Voyager II by Yann, a very hypnotic and trippy number, more ethereal than the rest Uncertainty Principle by Antonymous & Biophotons, a very creative track reaching high proportions of psychedelia Unplugged by Algorithium & Ektomorph, same as above basically :-) a great intense and spooky track. Not to sound cliché but if you are into Derango, Ajja (Tulpa album), Dohm or Shivattva, just get this release now :-) this is brilliant underground food for the brain. Flashback 09:39 Ankrosado is André Rosado from Portugal, he was known to me after I listened to this compilation https://www.discogs.com/fr/Various-Celestial-Transvibrations/master/805350 and his track was one of my favorites so I was curious to listen to this album. The music is simply goa trance: melodies supported most of the time by a soft bassline, some twisted sounds here and there and climaxes coming at the right time. Track #1 is slow and short, in my opinion it is a little empty and dull, but you should not get turned off by this track, it is almost like an intro and the following tracks get more interesting. Track #2 and #3 speed up nicely and have more ideas but still lack direction, so we are not quite there yet. With track #4 we are granted a cleaner sound with better energy, the music is very morning oriented and I enjoyed the beautiful key changes. The highlights come from track #5 to pretty much the end of the album. Ankrosado's style remains very humble in an elegant way and it keeps floating. The attention to detail is good, sounds are nicely delivered and the more variation the more pleasure. Some parts immediately reminded me Blue Planet Corporation, with synths floating and swirling, that put a smile on your face. We have some slower sequences, built in an euphorically melancholic way that please my ears. My opinion: the first half of this release is decent but sometimes boring, the second half delivers something uplifting, I can certify that this album sounds very old school and yet fresh, melodic and passionate. You will not have to go through these big walls of arpeggios or aggressive spirited sounds, so if you like your goa trance soft and laid back you should definitely give it a try. Favorite tracks: #5, #6, #7, #9. Rating: 7/10. Listen / buy: https://ankrosado.bandcamp.com/album/luminescence

    Double Impact - Zero

I checked this album after reading the reviews, glad I did, I was expecting much worse. This album is very dark (and I mean real dark, probably among the darkest psytrance albums I have ever heard), Zenon fans should fancy this kind of sound. It is very psychedelic.
  4. I started doing this last year, around August, my collection is not too big, I have around 300 albums (won't lie, most of them downloaded for free), going by alphabetical order, letter X right now so almost done. Next is the compilations but I have only about 100. The truth is, I don't find it really enjoyable, going by alphabetical order I often have to listen to something I am not really in the mood for. To go faster I skipped everything I already heard before but still a big task. Bottom line: not very pleasant to be honest, but of course great moments too along the way :)
  5. @astralprojectionnot what I usually listen to so no clue, sorry. @Multi-MediaIt was actually my brother who sent me the video of these singers and asked me about this chant since he used to listen to psytrance before. I struggled to find out but did eventually :). Not a quizz but the synth starting @ 2:30 immediately reminded me of this Space Tribe track ( @ around 3:20 ).
  6. Nice didn't think it was easy as it's not among his most popular tracks.
  7. More quizz @ 6:22 This chant was used in a track released in the early 2000s. This artist is very well known, has released over 10 albums now, this was in his very first album.
  8. Lords of Chaos - Lords of Chaos (Chapter 1) was a very nice surprise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f04aAflgX1g&ab_channel=dejanprogtrens
  9. Nice track. If my memory serves me right, Qiujan makes a similar style (with more intensity though): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zOcHtwBOgg&ab_channel=music2021
  10. This album can be tough to get into but can grow on you, at first I didn't like it too much but played at the right time it works nicely. That being said, I don't understand why the artist went again to remix 5 tracks that were already remixed for the album Ubarpedia in 2012. These versions sound much more modern though, more psytrance than goa, my favorites are #3, #4, #5. Cosmo Drome 2012 version is IMO one of the best melodic goa track ever made, one of the best melodies you will hear, looks like Ubar Tmar is aware of it as he produced a piano version of the track :)
  11. Forgot how good Mr Peculiar - Mind-Dala was. What a sweet album!
  12. I struggle to like the middle part, I wish there was a more normal melody, more harmonic. That said I really like the first and third parts of the track. I guess recursion loop is right about the sound quality but the underground feel is very real that way. Nice work!
  13. What a surprising album it is rare I feel a bit uncomfortable when listening to a psytrance track but when I listen to "Violet Noise for 7 Days" my brain makes a connection with the Swedish movie "Midsommar", a very weird story... "The Small Sorcerer" is very trippy, brilliant stuff.

We have about 3 hours of music. It is a mixed bag with formulaic, cliché stuff, and yet some shining moments. I will comment on a few tracks. PsiloCybian - Heebie-Jeebies: it starts quite generic with not much happening but the energy in the ending of the track caught my interest, the climax and pressure released at the end is satisfying. A solid weapon for the dancefloor. Triceradrops - Purple Sunshine: nice bassline change after 3 minutes, this track is more twisted and more agressive with what you could call a metallic psychedelic atmosphere. Sidekicks - Anti Hero: very decent because of the signature melody, despite the cliché bassline, it is more basic than the previous track though (alas not very elaborate). Bunker Jack - Hope Is Stronger Than Fear: intense and atmospheric, some goa vibes and a forest touch too, variety and twists, overall it is a great driving track. My favorite so far, a strong highlight. Electrypnose - Atacama (Deliriant Remix): fast tempo on a very bouncy bassline, mellow melodic sounds that mostly stay in the background, not bad at all. I have a feeling this track should be a grower and one of the best here. Triton - Motivation Protocol: what an interesting number, it contains nice twists and breaks, the producer is having a lot of fun playing with the bassline, and he builds a nice mental aura all along. Some will not fancy vocal samples when they take too much room in a psytrance track but I thought this robotic voice worked perfectly and actually added value. One of the darkest tracks of the compilation and another strong highlight. Exolon - Angry Planet: a weird composition with a guitar melody in the intro... then the producer plays with the listener when he throws the melody of Push - Universal Nation for a few seconds. This unexpected moment aside, the track has a nice build up and climax in the last minutes. Probably a nice dancefloor number, not sure of the overall quality though. Argon Sphere - Code: after a few minutes we are granted a mystic chant combined with acid lines, I thought this combination was sweet and original. The bassline keeps evolving while the interesting elements remain alive, it felt very satisfying. Solitary Shell & Bio-Logikal - Carbon Cycle: some goa vibes on a groovy bassline (think Ovnimoon style at a faster tempo) and some morning trance arpeggios to close the track. Pretty good. LunaRave - Reality Program: a nice dreamy and mysterious mood throughout, the second part delivers the emotional and hypnotic key changes that we did not hear much in this compilation. Strange Cookies & No Cliu - Sunny Day: a cliché modern psytrance / progressive track but can't help thinking it was not bad at all, it will work nicely on a dancefloor, sure it is a typical generic modern psytrance track that we love to hate but it still does the (groovy) job. Mr Snookems & His Slynxs - Discotize Me: something slower and more disco to finish the compilation, remember Kino Oko - Lost entertainment (if you dig this type of sound). All tracks are very well produced, you won't find any weakness in the production or the mastering. That being said I wish there was less fillers, the first half was promising but after track #10 (probably my favorite) I heard too much stuff with not enough identity or personality. Still the tracks I enjoyed and commented above were worth the time. Favorites: #1, #2, #3, #6, #8, #10, #18, #19, #21. Rating: 6/10. 15. It was remastered recently: https://avatarmusic.bandcamp.com/album/goa-exit but I agree the music sounds very old.
  16. Thanks, that must be psytones for something released in 2019 it doesn't sound like new school Goa. Not perfect but very good overall and the nostalgic feel is there.
  17. Phreak By Nature - Lit the Fuse The tempo is quite slow and the bassline is pretty groovy, it sounds very old school, reminiscent of the early Distance to Goa. Not that great though. Excitaxory - Silver Spoon A slow morning track, relaxing and a bit similar to the opening track but with a more charming atmosphere. Armakuni - Descend Upon Very old school again, sounds almost like Psychaos - Keyboard Widow. Microcosm - When We All Come Together Intense acidic goa trance with big climaxes, the album was one of the nicest surprises of 2011 (read the reviews here: https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/66071-microcosm-higher-levels/ ). Material Music - Omhu It goes from one groovy bassline to another, then unleashes the eastern goa melody while always keeping a powerful mindset. Great stuff. Clementz - Tøffere Enn Toget (1977 Edit) This music is not subtle, it is fast and powerful, straight to the point with nice acid leads and a high level of psychedelia. Clementz - Inside The Craft Another intense track, quite repetitive but also more emotional thanks to some warm trance pads. Clementz - Distorted Angel My favorite track from him here with the hottest synths available. Full power (think MFG - When We Dream). Material Music - Shaktas Impressive track again with a lot of energy, eastern melodies and a lot of twists in this long track. Very strong work. Angry Dwarf - Baobab (Echoes From Hamarr) Interesting track! Listen carefully and there is a melody very similar to Man With No Name - Own The World. One of my personal favorites here. Drum Pets - Melt the Walls (Strangepork Remix) Obvious old school vibes and with a nice triplet part. Awesome stuff. Trold - Torus Field Well executed, very smooth and nice work on the playful melodies (remember this album? https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/20891-trold-once-upon-a-time-apoxina/ I had totally forgot about it...). Aion - Synergetic A pure goa trance track and quite acidic later one, definitely a highlight. Ra - Escaping Gravity This creation from Ra is more on the chill side, a nice chill trance track, as usual very well executed. Goalien - Ayahuasca Did anyone notice how similar to Transwave the first part sounds? Although the last minutes are a bit cheesy. Lemurians - Not Expected Perhaps the coolest bassline in this compilation =) a different track, more psytrance than goa trance, interesting approach. Ion Vader - Harmonic Defiance One of the fastest tracks to end the journey, a wild take on psychedelic goa trance. I know psytones has been spamming a lot about Material Music but this artist is special, everything I listened from Material Music was from solid to brilliant, it is certainly an interesting name if you are into mature psytrance combined with goa elements. As for the whole compilation, it has a few fillers (as you could expect among 28 tracks) but the variety of ingredients you can hear is pleasant. At this price, when over half of the tracks have something interesting to offer, it is a bargain. Recommended. Rating: 7.5/10.
  18. I must have heard this track before, can't remember the context. Nice old school sound. 8/10. Next: Sneila - Silence of the severs.
  19. Video no longer available. Next track: X-Dream - S.T.O.P.
  20. Xenomorph and Ra deliver the highlights! The other tracks are good of course, but not really memorable IMO.
  21. Underground Experience 1. Black Moon 06:21 2. Soul Smuggler 06:47 3. Wicked 06:08 4. Brainbreaker 06:21 5. Waiting for Civilization 07:43 Alien Translator is Łukasz Zając from Poland, also known as JaraLuca. This project focuses more on the dark side of the psytrance spectrum, the music is fast and powerful all the way. This EP surely did not let me down, it contains a fair few of the breaks that are commonplace in darkpsy, huge basslines, some triplet parts that worked very well, chaotic effects and very electrifying energy. Of course you should not expect anything similar to JaraLuca, this project also shows how versatile Łukasz can be when it comes to electronic music. Perhaps some alien melodies could be included once in a while in the tracks? I would be curious to hear that! Nonetheless, I really liked this EP and hope to hear more in the future. Favorite tracks: #2, #3, #5. Rating: 8/10. Listen / Buy: https://undergroundexperience.bandcamp.com/album/black-moon-ep
  22. Original is around 155 BPM, on this video it is slowed down to 145, quite amazing that this track was made in 1994.
