  1. Dang, they are old! Dang, I.F.O.! Oh my.... a re-release of The Juggeling Alchemist Under the Black Light? AWESOME! Definitely one of my favorite albums/releases despite being very simple. This is so cool!
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qd9F_liFXGM One of my favorites
  3. I'm a big fan of Explosions in the Sky and Mono but otherwise I don't really have much of a library. Any other post-rock lovers with recs?
  4. Any updates on that darkpsy/hitech goa fusion project?
  5. Oh man, I am tempted to give a listen but I want to listen to the final mix. Can't wait for this to come out and get it. Congratulations on all the hard work!
  6. This sort of goes into the whole software vs hardware topic but in short, go for what suits you the best! I like software effects because of how it requires less cords and stuff like that compared to hardware effects. But the problem I have currently is that since I don't have lots of inputs with m current audio interface, I either have to have my synths go through the audio inputs of other synths (mainly the Korg EMX since it has a dedicated option for that) so that I can record most of my stuff. The problem with that is that my records then have some sounds and stuff mixed so I can't apply some effects as it will affect some synth lines which I don't want it to. The advantage of the hardware effects is that I can plug it in and apply where ever I want. I also prefer physical stuff in general since it gives me a bigger incentive to actually experiment and not just set a setting and leave it at that. In short, I would recommend doing what suits your studio/needs the best. I do both hardware and software since I am able to get the best out of best words. The only major problem with hardware gear is the price tag, some effect pedals are extremely overpriced so at times it is better to just get a software effect which can do the same basic job. I realize it may not be the greatest answer but just from my own experience of buying gear, sometimes some stuff are just over hyped like how some folks "hardware is better than software", not always the case.
  7. I also have a few tracks that no one has heard, not even me. They are just out there somewhere.
  8. Bumping so that folks can see this and participate. Would be interested to see folk's results. Uplifting? As in the old armin/tiesto/airbase/etc way or the uplifting goa/psy stuff? Either way, it would be interesting.
  9. Some folks have their definitions and preferences, but I prefer my underground to be the basement of a building or a mine shaft. Can't get more deeper or underground than that (maybe I should make a new sub-genre called Magma Psytrance or Earth Core, ).
  10. I don't have the same review skills as Trance2MoveU, but I found this album to be very enjoyable. I will admit it took some time and a couple listens, but then all the tracks clicked with me. One thing I enjoyed about it (from my perspective) is that it doesn't try to have every track as a bang or stuff of that nature. I remember reading and discussing this on another trance forum, but I personally think not every track released by artist have to be crazy or try to be unique/"out there". Obviously artists shouldn't just copy & paste, but one thing that sometimes bothers me when listening to some newer goa sets is that every track is a banger, not much different in tempos, or etc. Not saying that the 90s or whatever were perfect, but variety and "filler" tracks are also important with in sets. Then again, I tend to prefer albums and compilations than going to parties (because there are none in my area, lol). I hate doing number ratings as I feel that they "color" opinions of folks (some good albums get rated a low score due to early reviewers, etc). But regardless, I definitely recommend this to any psy/goa lover especially since it is a bit different from releases from Suntrip or Neogoa.
  11. No worries, just selling my audio interface and some pedals since I'm gonna need a mixer or at least an interface with tons more inputs (my current one only has two which is extremely annoying). I also might get a sequencer/sampler (been thinking of an mpc 1000, heard lots of good stuff about them but still doing research regarding that. I just don't want to spend too much time sequencing on ableton or at least have a tool that makes my life easier). Regarding your comment on the track, thanks! I was waiting for a cord since the power supply for my EMX died so I decided to do some laid back drone/ambient stuff with my Bass Station 2. Had the synth go through the Behringer EM600 doing some delays (which I got recently and enjoy quite a lot, I actually have 6 of them since I accidentally ordered a package of them but it was a real cheap deal on ebay), then it went to ableton where it went through some interesting effects packs I found on the web, but the main ones included a plate reverb, another effect which sort of colored some of the sounds, and then finally another delay at the end of all of that with a very small amount of reverb. It's always fun to see what kind of sounds you can get with just effects and one synth. But I definitely should start doing more psy/goa stuff, just gotta finish this last week of college and I'm "free" for this summer. I still have lots of work to do with my skills, need to polish my compositions, etc. Been listening to some recent releases of NeoGoa and somewhat recent stuff from Zion604 along with older records from the 90s, just trying to see what works well and what doesn't (I just loved Radical Distortion's newest album though, that album just rocks!). [sorry about the blog-type post]
  12. Eh, Idk. Not that I'm against collaborating but my workflow is a mess and I'm currently in the process of selling some gear, buying new ones, and replacing some stuff that have broken down.
  13. Same here. Heard good and bad things about it, but I will withhold judgement and any hype.
  14. Oh ya, I just love that about the Fromsoft games, that sense of accomplishment you get when you finally beat a boss. One thing that I found real funny is how it only took me two tries to beat Gwyn (using the parry route). I still need to beat the 4kings on my Pure Black run, haven't beaten it yet because either it would be glitchy and the Summon and I would be screwed or the red phantom darkwraiths oneshot us before we can reach it.
  15. Not really an insane studio equipment, but a very nice 303-esque synth was announced. Can do 303 sounds but also other sounds especially with the customization waveform option. http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2015/05/05/twisted-electrons-introduces-acid8/#comments
  16. About the cd part, when I asked him about it he mentioned that those who didn't donate earlier will still be able to purchase the cd when it eventually comes out.
  17. Oh Ornstein & Smough, what a fun bunch, hahah. What I figured is to take the fight slowly, don't rush. I usually go for Smough first then Ornstein, usually for the armor.
  18. Yay! Then will some obscure artist take up the name and start releasing albums and tracks using that name?!
  19. Oh ya, It definitely could use more outputs. The nice thing about the new electribes is that it is integrated wit Ableton so all the sound files and midi can be transferred over real easily. But there are some problems like the audio gaps when switching between patterns but they are supposed to fix that eventually. At least they are getting some attention, Novation could really consider updating and adding some new features to the Bass Station 2, it's been nearly a year since they released a beta update and no news since.
  20. Man, I am a huge fan of them. Would be awesome if they had a revival and released some new Acid Goa stuff.
  21. Some simple ambient, was more focused sounds from the bass station and changes in effects: https://soundcloud.com/deskoch/is-it-the-ambient-of-my-87
