  1. Well i really didn't like very much trance from 06', so i voted yes to 07' trance. I find music without melodies to be very boring, and it seems a lot of trance in 06' didn't have them. Psyknights was the most stand-out release of the year for me...and im not sure you could even consider that trance. For chill, i voted no. I thought 06' was a pretty good year for chill. Some unique new sounds and everyone wasnt just trying to copy shpongle Omnimotion's album was one of the best albums of the year IMO, if not the best If the chill in 07' is better than 06' i definately wont be dissapointed though
  2. Wow, didn't see this one coming. Just finished listening to it for the first time. From start to finish every track was good, with a couple excellent tracks thrown in. Not only is this a very unique album, but each track is unique compared to the others. This is definately one of the best "trance" albums of the year. I say "trance" just because such a wide variety of sounds and ideas are explored here, which is a very good thing in my book Update: Well i've listened to this a few more times now, and it's not quite as amazing as i first thought, but it's still a solid album. I give it a 7.5/10
  3. Ever heard "The Herb Garden"? That's a slow hallucinogen song and i think its really cool. Sounds kinda like shpongle (imagine that..) If you really wanna find out there are programs to slow down music. I doubt it would sound good, but who knows, you might like it.
  4. I'd say a 3 or 3.5. Sure the majority of psy is crap, but there are still some good tracks/albums coming out. Psy has a lot better ratio of good songs than other genres of music. A lot of people seem to be complaining about how there is nothing new or innovative. The fact is, there isnt much else that can be done with psytrance, and still have it be psytrance. I listen to tons of different genres of music, so i havent gotten burnt out on any particular style So my vote goes for 3.5. If i was rating the AVERAGE psytrance track it would probably be 0.5, as would every other type of music..
  5. Well theres no way i could name just one track, but here are a few that come to mind: Just about any Hallucinogen song, Posford is a genious. Total Eclipse - Psychadelic Terrorist + The Furmace Astral Projection - Aurora Borealis Infected Mushroom - Bust A Move + Dancing with Kadafi MFG - Alternate dimension Nystagmus - Tommy is Dead Shaolin Wooden Men - Remember the slime + Retinal Circus Shift - Push It Those are some of my favs of the trance side of psy. I'm also a huge fan of psy-chill, and my list for that would be much longer i think
  6. Lifeforms and Dead Cities are pretty much equally amazing, but i think lifeforms just a little bit better. None of their other albums have come close to those 2, although they still have some good stuff FSOL is some of my favorite music of all time, great stuff
  7. I totally agree. I couldn't care less about what you call the music, as long as i like it, that's enough for me. You can call it polka music for all i care, i'll still listen to it
  8. Just heard this for the first time, what a fantastic album! I really wouldn't call this "dark-psy" to be honest, so it's understandable that dark-psy fans may be dissapointed by this. I don't even like the vast majority of dark-psy, so the fact that i like this would point to it not being dark-psy. The only way to classify this album for me would be "twisted". It's really strange, and i love the unique way the album is laid out. Absolutely top notch stuff!
  9. I agree actually, an absolute masterpiece My other favs are probably IFO (Pleiadians), Violent Relaxation (Total Eclipse), and Twisted of course.
  10. I would just buy yourself some high quality after-market speakers to replace the factory/stock ones. Subwoofers in a car are pointless IMO, they just muddy up the sound, need an amp, etc. Plus you'll look like a chav I recommend checking out http://www.crutchfield.com That will automatically find what size speakers you need, based on your car, and has some reviews by people who have bought them. However there are cheaper places to find speakers, so you might want to shop around once you figure out what you want. Crutchfield does send some very detailed instructions though, which is helpful if you're going to install them yourself, and haven't done it before. As for home speakers, i'm not really sure. I've been wondering the same thing myself, so hopefully someone can give us some good answers. I've just been using some sennheiser headphones, because my computer speaker/subwoofer setup just doesnt bring out the details of the music
  11. Awesome, thanks. Downloading this now
  12. I uploaded the 3 songs i have by them, since there doesnt seem to be anywhere on the web to find them. Here ya go: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?acti...6D9130537DB02FE
  13. Well, Larry Carlson music has beats...so i'm kinda confused that you say no beats. The closest thing i've heard to Larry Carlson is an electronic group? called "I.L.O.". I remember downloading some free mp3s by them awhile ago, and still have a few. However, i don't remember where i found them and google hasn't really found anything. I found another artist called ILO, but it's not the same music...The only link i found is http://www.last.fm/music/i.l.o. That lists a few songs by them/him/her, but unfortunately i can't find where i originally downloaded the music from.
  14. Some of my favorites have already been posted, but here's a few more: link link link link link link link link link link link Sry if i went a bit overboard
  15. It was between Brian Eno and Biosphere for me. I went with Biosphere, but i consider them equally great.
  16. Yep, the difference is obvious. The first video is like something you'd see on MTV, the 2nd one is just awesome The crowds seem vastly different too if you ask me. Not to mention duvdev looks like a retard
  17. There are a couple good tracks, but most of them are just boring to me. To make things worse, a couple are downright cheesy, as DP said. There just isn't anything interesting on this album IMO, seems like i've heard everything here before. Generic, boring psy. Just my 2cents
  18. Haha, that album cover is awesome
  19. This is a really nice release. Just when i was thinking there'd be no good releases this year, we get hit with a storm of them All of these tracks are at least good, with a few very lovely tracks indeed! My favs are tracks 1, 4!, 5, 7!, and 9! Just on a side note: Track #4 by Unstable Elements has a melody (starts at 2:10) that is remarkably similar to "Tommy Is Dead" by Nystagmus. Maybe it's just me though.
  20. Now i know where infected mushroom got their new sound
  21. haha, great 'review'. I was laughing my ass off reading that one , then realized that this kinda crap is actually popular
  22. Wow, i feel stupid now. lol. Thanks for the tip.
  23. Does anyone remember what that site is that stores old websites on it, that has all the old psynews reviews? I'd really appreciate it if someone can link me to it
  24. He started it! Anyway, I just hate when people trying to represent their musical tastes as fact. It's all just personal preference, you know, different strokes for different folks (cliche i know)
