well not always. some artists just do it for fun. it allows them to express their mind and with good luck it might be something positive for others too.
no one builds a LCD-screen only to express their minds. there's always some of that good old $$ involved, unlike music that CAN be made thinking about money, but it's not always so.
I think music that is totally out of touch, e.g. unreleased material, should be shared. of course there's no absolute right views to this. frankly I think it's just stupid to see this dorky elitist attitude where people think it's their exclusive right to have some music. (Unless you're the artist of course!) I too suffered from this. When I a little kid and got new toys of course I wanted to show them to others, smell the envy, and enjoy the privilege I was having. It made me feel special about myself. Nowadays I'll share everything without questions! (everything= the non-buyable music)
Music is an art to be enjoyed.
