  1. The free teaser track they released left me a bit cold, but after listening these samples, I'm quite optimistic. The depth is there and there's a nice amount of variety.
  2. Ultimae is a bit of a hit-and-miss for me. On the one hand I didn't like James Murray's album at all and Hol Baumann's while interesting was too homogenic, but on the other some of their releases are my favourite albums, like Aes Dana's Aftermath and Memory Shell and Asura's Life^2. The deep soundscapes give rise to incredible feelings. :posford:
  3. Mindprobe - Live at Alternatiba, released on the quite superb netlabel Ultrabeat. It was probably one of Ultrabeat's last releases because AFAICR they folded in 2001. Speaking of which some time ago I tried to access innerverse.com just for fun and discovered that it had come back online in 2007 with a single blog post saying they would relaunch soon. Well nothing had happened since then but the site is still up. I sure would love to hear new stuff from Mantis and Loose ID.
  4. So did you go? How was the gig? Did they play oldies? IMO the new album was meh.
  5. Good to have him back. Psyreviews was the Zero Punctuation of psy trance.

It's very good. Highly recommended! Easily the best vampire movie I've seen. +1 It's very good for a horror movie. The gloomy Scandinavian winter makes for a great setting.
  7. Merr0w - Pixelized Sight -- I'm afraid ATM I like it much better than his new album, which incidentally has rather a tired remake of PS.

Man on Wire - A documentary about a man with an insane, fantastic dream. The climax is absolutely incredible and the consequences all too human. And yes it's technically as good as they say. 9/10 Millennium Mambo - I've been meaning to watch Hsiao-hsien Hou's films for some time and this was my first. The film is fascinating but I grew very frustrated watching it because things kept going in circles. I know that's the point, but still... 7/10
  9. Beethoven's Piano Sonata 32 :drama:
  10. Great news! I hope my asking Ultimae to re-release Aftermath a while back helped make this happen. I really want it on CD. :posford:
  11. (In reply to me going through my record collection looking for stuff I don't like anymore. -- Why can't Psynews quote the whole of a post that includes a quote?!) Right now playing: Persona 3 FES OST. I've been playing the Playstation 2 Shin Megami Tensei games (P3 FES, SMT Nocture and Digital Devil Saga) this summer and I'm liking them a lot.
  12. Thanks for the quick review Moai. It reflects my sample sentiments quite accurately. Any collaborators should be mentioned in the liner notes of your *cough* CD *cough*. Discogs.com says Arne and Wayan participated in tracks 7, 8 and 10.
  13. I'm going through my CD collection to see if there are any albums there that I don't like anymore. I don't like having useless stuff around. So far a couple have turned up.
  14. I was just going to ask whether anyone here has it. It was released in Japan three weeks ago. No love for us Europeans yet. Tracklist and 1:30 samples: http://www.techno.to/detail/?cat_no=WVCD003 Sounds quite good, but some tracks don't seem, based on the short samples quite as trancy and cinematic as I'd have liked. So, does any of Psynews residents living in Japan (Abasio, Jikkenteki...?) have it? Or perhaps someone else? Also, Apocalypse Now + Roflcopter = win!
  15. Glow stick ravers at a Delta gig? :posford: :posford:
  16. The Delta - Standby Always sends shivers down my spine. Simply brilliant sci-fi tech trance. The orchestral swells - zOMG! :drama: :drama: :drama:
  17. The average psy bass is a low pass filtered saw wave with some resonance for bite, eq'd, QuadraFuzzed and compressed to taste.
  18. Asura - Life^2 Aes Dana - Aftermath Aes Dana - Memory Shell
  19. FREq - Gosub 20 I'm starting to get into this album. :posford:
  20. Someone please post samples? I don't think Christer minds that.
  21. Ra - Predator and Ra - Sytrus -- They haven't lifted the track names from Predator and Sytrus VST synths, have they? Nice samples; looking forward to hear more. Edit: zOMG that was my 303rd post!
