  1. www.musicstack.com especially for older releases, some cheaper others more expensive.
  2. The masses prefer easy feel-good music (or any other form of culture, for that matter), and there are musicians who will cater to their taste because they like fame & fortune. Parts of culture that are non-mainstream are turned into commercial products which changes them (and the scene built around them) significantly. I very much doubt that will change any time soon; those things are part of the modern society. I don't long after the old goa sound, though I still love to listen to the music. IMO music has to (and eventually it will) evolve, but it should retain qualities that I value, such as depth and diversity. At the end of the day however, I believe I'll be in the minority for the foreseeable future. Do I have sleepless nights because of that? No.
  3. Gone full-on like MFG and Astral Projection?
  4. Xerxes, The Mirror Formula is an excellent album and I'm frankly amazed that you are giving it for free.
  5. Mukavan tuoreen kuuloista soundia. Ensimmäinen biisinne mikseri.netillä oli vähän härö paikoin, mutta muuten musiikillisesti ei valittamista kappaleissa. Oh well maybe I should use English? However in technical terms you still have to improve because the mixes didn't sound professional; they were on the thin side. It's nice to hear psy that doesn't stick to the same completely worn-out formulas.
  6. I don't know about ReBirth examples, but here's the old Hallucinogen website: http://web.archive.org/web/20020914081227/.../frame-main.htm Check the sections "The Labs" and "Technical" for info about his gear and how he used it. Archive.org is your friend.

  8. 0 My friends just don't "get" it.
  9. Astral Projection - almost. No other music gets even close, I'm such a jaded bastard.
  10. Skazi - Total Analchy!!!!! [/bad joke]
  11. I think TC|Works' discontinued Mercury-1 was an SH-101 clone (it's an VSTi): http://www.kvraudio.com/get/77.html (You should still be able to *ahem* find it somewhere.) I haven't heard about any other replicas. SH-101 has a distinctive sound (that you can hear on for example Hallucinogen's records), and so you are unlikely to be able to emulate it satisfactorily with just any VST. You could try VAZ Modular; it sounds aggressive and analog. After that you just have to try recreating its sound with other VSTs.
  12. www.ebay.co.uk www.ebay.de You should check them if not daily then every couple of days, because deals can come and go rather fast and if you are looking for rarities, you may have to wait quite a while for one to pop up. www.thomann.de has some used synths too.
  13. How long have you been together? If only for a short time, then it's natural that your dedicate much time to each other now. But eventually (after a few months or so) everyday life will come back and so you should be able to resume making music - except if she is so dependent on you that she wants to be with you most of the time.
  14. I don't listen to anything else than Tiesto . I'm on this forum to spread the Gospel of True Trance and indeed the comments of some of you poor souls shows that not everyone has accepted the Divine Love. [/sarcasm] JackCheese, exactly where did you hear that Tiesto's music is done by other producers? That is so strong a claim that you'd better a have credible source.
  15. It's TEh secret trance master elite synth, even better than Nord Lead or real Virus. Actually it's a modification to z3ta+ that brings a lot of Virus features to it. http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35148&start=0 As for goa VSTis, I'd check out VAZ Modular because it's one of the most analog sounding softsynths. That analog sound is so essential in goa.
  16. Homophobia is wrong. Gays can't do anything about their sexual orientation and I bet that it takes a long time for them to accept what they are. Too bad so many have so strong a tendency to divide people into "us" and "them", "good" and "evil". And what about Christianity's teachings about homosexuality? Which of the boys do you like best? I have their every record. Do you too? [insert an overdose of smileys here]
  17. 8 AM - 7 PM. I'm a daylight person. I like to start as early as possible because then my mind is fresh and empty of other distractions.
  18. Yea I forgot to add that in certain cases constructive criticism may be useless.
  19. Haha, The Next Generation review was so hilarious. Concerning not reviewing bad albums, I think it's them that should be reviewed because then the producers would get feedback on how to improve their music.
  20. IMO the bass in the track is phat enough (nice rumble), but the kick could be a bit more prominent. There was a moment in the track where the bass went a way and I think the kick was too low in volume. First try increasing it. If that doesn't help, you've got to use effects (or find a new kick). For phatness use compressors (I like chaining more than 1 in a row, like Sonalksis SV-315 and PSP VintageWarmer) and EQ (narrow boosting or cutting is one way), and I've also found BBE Sonic Maximizer 2 useful for lowend. As for groove, I think they groove well enough (at least on my headphones). You can get a pumping bass with sidechaining (and sidechaining is a good way to ensure the bass doesn't overlap with the kick): http://www.computermusic.co.uk/pdf/tutorials/sidechain.pdf Other ways to get groove include phat oscillators, snappy envelopes (like those on VAZ Modular), playing around with velocity and filter of individual notes (accents) and offsetting (moving ahead or behind in time) individual bass notes ever so slightly. By the way, I liked the track; it had a fresh sound and cool ideas though it was a bit short.
