I don't quite understand the hysteria about Facebook privacy. Obviously if there are things you don't want known by the world at large then don't post them in a public place where everybody can see them. There's nothing special about Facebook in this regard, apart from its fame and its permanence.

Astral projection vs MFG (> 10 years later)

I can. -
I have now knocked something together in Python. If enough people want the poll reopened I'm willing to count votes again, since it should be considerably easier now. Personally, I wouldn't expect to receive significantly more votes if we do reopen it.

Your favourite tracks from these 20 classic artists/groups

I tend to read other people's posts in any list thread in which I've participated. -
The site does remember, so that you automatically use the same skin across different desktop/laptops. The fact that the mobile skin is used by mobile devices shouldn't affect what happens elsewhere though (that's the way it works on my iPod, for example). I don't know whether we can fix it, but I doubt it - as I've already said, we're at the mercy of the people who maintain IPB. I'll let the admins know in case there's anything they can do about it, though.

It's a Gnumeric spreadsheet rather than Excel, but yes. Yes, it took way longer than I thought it would. Frankly if I were to do another poll I wouldn't use a spreadsheet. I'd knock something together in Python instead.

Russia FTW.

How did it happen?

Nothing Lasts... is their least good album in my (and probably most others') opinion, but it's still worth owning. link
-
Yes, from 2009 (link). It was very well-received.

Are you aware that there are four Shpongle albums? Your post makes it sound as though you think the third is the latest.

Actually, the rules do say that it's not OK to open reviews like that: Not saying I agree with the rules, just thought it worth mentioning.

We already have it: [sc]http://soundcloud.com/artist/track-title[/sc]

Astral projection vs MFG (> 10 years later)

I have listened to Mahadeva. I wasn't sold. -
We had a similar thread before but it fell off the radar. Perhaps such a thread is worth pinning - let's see whether this one draws any interest and if so I'll run it by the admins. Anyway, here's a few from me: Kindzadza - Nano Ninja (buy it here): my early impression is that this is fantastic. It's similar in style to Insoluble, but it's more melodic, faster, more varied and just plain better. Dragon - Spirals of Time (buy it here): very good, it sounds metallic and spacey with great use of samples. One of those rare darkpsy albums that doesn't feel as though it's trying to follow any trends, the artist has developed his own sound and put it to great use. Hypogeo - Tree of Lies (buy it here): good dark progressive. There's a varied palette of cool noises on every track, but it's kind of depressing and I find it hard to listen to the whole album in one go. Tor.Ma - Inside Universe (buy it here): lovely psydub/psy-chill. The first half of the album sounds like a not-as-good Androcell, the second half like a better (IMO) Bluetech.

So do I. But it was released in 1999, unfortunately. If you think you'll have better luck getting people to vote than we did, and you're willing to do all the work of checking releases, counting votes and writing up the results, nothing is stopping you from starting your own thread.

Same here. On the other hand, I do think that the music he's been making over the past decade shows that he's neither willing to rest on his laurels nor descend into market-friendly derivative crap, which is almost unique among heroes of the old-school.

OK, I think I've figured out what's going on here. The links to individual threads in the mobile skin all have the form http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/10000-topic-name/page__view__getnewpost but when one actually opens the page, one is referred to a page of the form http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/10000-topic-name/page__st__100#entry1000000 where the number on the end is the first unread post if there is one, or the last post of the thread otherwise. Obviously, this doesn't make it any easier to post a link to an individual post on a mobile device unless that post happens to be the first unread/last post of the thread.
