  1. Lol It is too true though. Nano now is something I actively avoid, if I can. Earthling has been playing a lot of sets in Goa this season and so far a few I have caught have avoided the dreaded nano curse of every track sounding the same/using the same effects/sounds etc. Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel. Who would have thought TIP could possibly start a resurgence of any sort a few years back? :0 Im glad they are trying!
  2. Uptempo: 1: Shakta - Retroscape (Suntrip) 2: Moonweed - Voice of Jupiter (Anjuna Records) 3: Morphic Resonance - Chromatic World (Neogoa) 4: Astral Projection - Goa Classics Remixed (TIP) 5: VA - Ten Spins Around The Sun (Suntrip Records) 6: PsySutra - Gamma Phoenics (Cronomi) 7: VA - Analog Dreams (DAT Records) 8: V/A - Three OM Three (Anjuna) 9: Ephedra - Journey Through My Head (Goa Madness) 10: Goasia - Amphibians On Spacedock (Suntrip) Note: I thought it was actually not a great year for Goa releases compared to 2013, but then when i got to making my list i see it actually has been pretty damn good. *Didn't list any Downtempo as I haven't had time to delve into anything properly on that side for quite a while.
  3. Saw thread title... got my hopes up... :/ Then i saw the date posted. There is actually not many artist that I crave to hear literally any and all tracks of theirs that I haven't heard, Filteria is one of the few. I know usually people say things aren't released for a reason, but I even want to hear the "bad" or rougher stuff...
  4. Well there is quite a few... Top 3 could be difficult but I can try.. Not in any particular order. *Note - all of mine are from last year or the year before... Just because before that, the rest of my life I had rarely or never heard actual goa at a party! Pretty good few years. Suntrip 10 Year Anniversary - Belgium (2014) After whinging to my friends in Australia for years since discovering Suntrip that we would never hear any Goa, they basically all told me to piss off and go hear it for myself then, hah. Nicely though. So I have, and did, and this was the first party I got to see Filteria play live. Wow. I believe I overdid it a little bit on something but still had an amazing night and couldn't quite believe i was finally in Belgium. I remember it was actually really hot which was so weird haha. Awesome party thanks Joske and co. Boom (2014) Musically, definitely not my style for almost the whole festival but still is the biggest festival i have been to and had an incredible time. Had always been a dream of mine to go and so myself and my gf went by ourselves. Also the goa day/morning was one of the best days of my life so far I think.. hah..That was the day I became even more of a Nebula Meltdown fan... Also got to meet Jannis properly and actually hang out and drill him with questions, really made my day cheers Jannis if u read this ever. Suntrip 10 Year Anniversary - Nottingham (2014) After 2 years of nothing but full on and progressive parties in London/UK my ears were aching to hear some goa over there. And hear it they did. That system sounded incredible to me and such a nice vibe, met some great people from here and just generally had an all round amazing time. Was my last party on that side of the world for a while so was probably the best send off I could ask for. Runner up: Lost theory (2013)
  5. ^^ Haha thx man i was confused, thought he was joking.
  6. Hey mate, I luckily did get to speak to Raja 2 days ago and asked him for you haha (Along with a bunch of other q's of my own lol) He said that it is a possibility and the person in charge is here in goa so he might ask if there was enough demand for it. Was at a party so I couldn't hear him that well but that was the gist of it! So, it might happen! Heh.
  7. I will actually try and ask Raja next time I see him. Rode past him on my scooter the other day and got to say hi etc. He seemed fine btw and said not to worry about the health issues... (I was in full fanboy mode yes as i couldnt believe i randomly met him in goa lol) Haha @ Simon selling them on discogs lol. I think frankly the reason for no repress is just down to the perceived demand. I bet Raj and Simon don't think it would actually be worth it to them to repress at this point in time. Whether that is right or not I'm not so sure. Twisted was never in a position financially the last few years to take risks though..
  8. Hi mate, Plenty of parties now both in regular venues and also in remote locations. Have enjoyed a bunch at Monkey Valley, Shiva Valley, Curlies and of course Hilltop. They are probably some of the more famous/popular party destinations this season here. And yup a lot of those are ending up on the beach. It is quite cool watching the sun come up over the water while dancing on the sand! Remote parties are not as easy to come by obviously as they are a bit out of the way, but mostly not too far from Anjuna anyways. Finding parties is easy once you know a few people. Choosing which parties you want to go to is a lot harder haha. Accomodation wise there is plenty, everywhere and cheap coming from the UK. You can find anything from cheap hostel, single room with or without AC in a guest or share house, up to an apartment with swimming pool etc for the season. I found ours quite easily online. Let me know if you need to know anything else!
  9. Goa: Suntrip Cronomi Timewarp Neogoa Oldschool Goa + Remasters: DAT Melodic Full On: Kinematic Recs Vertigo Prog: Ovnimoon Recs?
  10. Anything Freelance if you can? We just did two years away from home freelancing in the uk (graphic design) and you can really make good money. Temp agencies can help with other work quite a lot as well (general office stuff? Reception?) The only thing wrong with the hospitality idea is what happened to all my friends, they pay soooo little that its hard to ever travel/move on from yr job.. So it might just cover rent + food. Or maybe just need to earn a lot of tips! A friend also makes jewellery and clothes here in Goa and is doing quite ok this year. Actually I think a lot of people buy things in bulk cheaply, then sell them at stalls for 5x the price lol. Good luck!
  11. So I have been in Goa now for a month or so and thought maybe some people might be interested in what its actually like here these days, well as it pertains to psytrance anyways heh. Staying in Anjuna quite frankly I have been blown away and would say it has far far surpassed my expectations. Was able to find an awesome apartment within a few weeks, 20 mins walking distance to anjuna beach, or 5 min scooter ride. Party Wise - Wow. Seriously I thought I knew what a LOT of parties meant from London… But nothing could ever have prepared me for this, and I love psy parties haha. Every. Single. Night, there are parties going on, quite large ones often times even though this season is a bit down from usual. Musically - they do love a lot of dark/forest stuff and I literally saw Atriohm 3 nights in a row (by mistake i didn't look at a lineup haha). But they also are playing some decent full on as well. So far have yet to hear any progressive really at all, which is fine by me as I heard enough in London My only chances of hearing any Goa is when Astral come in Febuary, so I am quite hanging out for that. I am actually quite struggling to find balance of party/not party here as its just so hard not to party all the time. Luckily the gf is keeping me somewhat in line. All in all this place is incredible, and I think it still has a vibe like nowhere else. Nowhere is ever going to be the same as it was, and everything changes but i think goa is still a magic place. Any questions or tips or anything just ask, I have about 3 months left to go now in Anjuna as more artists come in throughout the next months but will be travelling a bit more of India as well.
  12. ^^ Would rather someone emotionally involved in their music even if just playing dj set, than someone Pretending to tweak knobs constantly for show So the first one. *Billy Cosmosis gets a pass from over acting because frankly he is an incredible musician. And one hell of a showman haha
  13. It was better than I expected. When all the out there stuff was happening I couldn't believe they actually put it in the movie, like that they went That far out haha. I certainly enjoyed that aspect and visuals were quite nice.
  14. On the way back to Australia from two years in London and thought we should as I always wanted to see for myself. Plus it's cheap coming from London with Pounds, and not a bad base to explore India from. And psytrance, psytrance Everywhere lol. Just for six months or so, until my gf has enough probably
  15. You guys know you can add ppl to ignore list on here right?
  16. Just settling into life in goa, trying to find a longer term place for the season. Goa/Anjuna is just what I thought it always was. Good times.
  17. Some fair points sure. I agree it could be more diverse in those sections. However disagree on the "it's not good part".. If an incredible full on or prog album comes out people here are usually all over it and will often review it. I love good full on and Forest as much as anybody. The problem though, is exactly that a lot of the releases the last years are indeed, crap. Or people's taste change and mature..or both? Usually someone has to be quite passionate about something to bother reviewing it. Look back a few years and u will find reviews of the best forest albums here along with Suomi, full on etc... Maybe just in the recent years the forum has reverted a bit to mostly goa orientation. I should probably get off my ass and contribute more reviews then..
  18. I am going to finally see Astral Projection live... In Goa. I can't actually believe it.. https://www.facebook.com/events/1513457032225033/1551868538383882/?notif_t=like Anyways i really really hope this turns out as great as it seems it might!
  19. I don't really see it that way at all man. I think a lot of people do take the time to recommend stuff actually. More than anywhere else. Also, This IS the best resource for discovering good psy/goa music on the net imo thanks to the EPIC reviews section and also the Aritst News Announcements section. Where else can you dig through thousands of reviews, sorted by year with literally hundreds of pages of reviews?? This place is an absolute gold mine for a newcommer. There is simply no better way than taking the time to go through those sections yourself and seeing what is similar to what you like or what u might end up liking. Its incredible.
  20. Post of the year. Seriously that is beautiful man. And +1 on the Nebula Meltdown sentiments.. Might not be to everyones taste, but he is extremely gifted at weaving melodies in an actual trance inducing way...
  21. Haha, not sure, Im in London for the last 2 years! But it sure has been raining here, for a change. hah
  22. ^^ That, is actually the point, that the rarely heard systems we are talking about aren't overpowered by bass. A lot of psy parties are yeah, but then when you hear one as crystalline and with as good a soundstage as the best set of open cans, it is freakin incredible. Music has to have space to breathe imo and I love headphones as much as anyone.
  23. Hey mate are u playing forest stuff tonight?? if so I think it does mention Opus. Have heard their system a few times I think if its the same ppl. Quite nice! Anyways see ya there perhaps.
  24. ^^ I don't think he does, and also, I think he probably just calls all psytrance Goa anyways... If i ever have chance to meet him I will find out haha. Maybe if he plays around goa this season. That would mean enduring one of his sets though... which tbh his style for the last maybe ten years is not really up my alley!
