You can do alot of crazy stuff by playing samples of things at different pitch levels (either really high or really low) - EQ them, add flangers or echo and they sound amazing. Spektral Delay by Native Instruments also can help make some pretty crazy sounds.

Wat's the best software to make psytrance?
Aeros replied to CutoffKnob's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
There is no "best software", theres only the software that you're best at using. FL isn't considered top quality by most people and it probably isn't compared to other things - or it could be that FL has just never been used in a quality way. For one, FL is very quick and easy to sequence with so that gives it an advantage, also it supports VSTi's - meaning you can load up and use other synths in it such as Albino, Fm7, Absynth, Pro 53 or many many many others. Reason cannot do this, and actually you can rewire Reason to act as a VST plugin into FL - so you can combine both programs (though its tricky to use and its actually is better to rewire Reason with Cubase if you know that program, I unfortunately don't.) As for your cutoff troubles, you can cutoff anything in FL, look at the knob under the ins (instrument) tab for a channel, it says cutoff and the one next to it says resonance. Additionally you can also attatch a lowpass filter to any FX channel (adn thus any sound or synth) and knob it from there. -
A Perfect Symmetry (new track)

Haha ouch, thats some bad luck - didn't know it would get so complicated But if all fails, a 192k Mp3 is availible.... if you register at AP.... -

Hehe, well I know what you mean I'm the same in that way. But ok you win - heres a link http://rapidshare.de/files/3267899/Synogen...part_1.wma.html -
When I first started, I had a similar problem. I seemed to think there was this formula or magic rule the people followed, or there was something they had that I was just missing, now matter how hard I tried I couldn't get it to come together. But then one day, I just decided to stop trying to do it and just do it. Its so much easier after that. Once you make your first full song the rest come easier. Just don't give up. If you're getting stuck on your intro - you're not thinking about your song. Always try to visualize what you want to make and then just play out or put it out into the program. Its going to be hard at first but its just a learning curve.

A Perfect Symmetry (new track)
Aeros replied to Aeros's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Hahaha, yeah the way the reviews work on AP is that you don't dock out points unless there is a reason (since you only judge the production, not your taste in if you like the song or not) - but true theres alot of kids out there that just want other people to review what they threw together with acid 4.0 in half an hour so they give 10/10 on everything. I only release on there for now since I'm taking my time until I have enough tracks and talent to make it worthwhile to seek new listeners. (I wouldn't want people to listen to crappy music) -

or you could just register for free at Acidplanet and be able to review/download any song Alot of people first release on AP - including Amithaba (now called Lost) Buddha who posts here, and Infinite Dimensions, A message to Earth and a bunch of others I can think of. @Deepthrone, there will be a part 2 to the song. The story between me and the "enchanting friend" is not yet over Tia se kazva Ilina i su zapoznahme kato biah v edni canyoni tuka v California - strahotno beshe! -
automation in fl studio
Aeros replied to ajay_spunky's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Its pretty straight forward and works similar to Reason or anything else, just select a pattern you want to record your automation into, hit record and move those knobs! You could also right click the knob (or slider or anything) and click edit events and you can "draw" the automation you want on there yourself. Theres also a new feature in FL5 - the automation clip which lets you use a nurbs line system to control automation. Also in the piano rollout theres a new thing where you can smoothly control volume, pitch, panning, and X and Y cutoff (usually the cutoff filter and resonance if its availible for that synth) so that makes things easier if you want to use those there rather than having to do it on a per-note basis like before in the piano rollout. -
Whats your opinion on this? http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?PID=591612&T=784

Sending DEMO'S to record labels
Aeros replied to d_vision's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
From what I know, Yahel's early stuff was nearly all software made. All that matters is that something sounds good and original. Even if something is low quality you can still be able to tell if the work on it is good or not, but ultimately, the better the quality the better the impression you'll make on the labels. Its always the safest bet to just do the best you can. -
A Perfect Symmetry (new track)
Aeros replied to Aeros's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Aware of that Perhaps I was speaking more about a "time investment" than monetary one ehehe So - anymore feedback? The initial responses on acid planet and from people I've shown the track to were generally surprised and called it original (a unique track for the unique experience that inspired it I like to think). Is there no one else who would like to listen? I wonder because I would like to produce more music like this. The whole tribal/downtempo goa feel and that. I've been wondering what would happen if you mix goa with dub rather than psy with dub... The link once again for those too lazy to scroll up http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?PID=591612 -
Ozric Tentacles, oooo yes

A Perfect Symmetry (new track)
Aeros replied to Aeros's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Thanks The bass definately doesn't sound analogue enough (and the dub bass was simply some EQed BooBass) so I recognize that - All I have is FL5 and a handful of decent VSTi's, I'm mostly just going to lay dormant and low profile until I'm satisfied with the direction of my music - that way an investment into Reason or Cubase or even some hardware won't be a waste if it happens. Like I said, I've started out relatively recently. -
125bpm... I don't know what to say about the track really, just that I wrote it how I felt it based on the inspiration of meeting an amazing person in an amazing place a few weeks ago. I was aiming more so for making something as art rather than something for dance. The song has 6 themes in 2 symmetries as my reflection on my experiance (I realize the contradiction of words there but I think you know what I'm getting at) I'm interested in how people will respond to this music, I myself don't have the privaledge of having a first impression on it given that I made the song, so I'm curious as to how it will be recieved. You can listen here

It seems hype can do in a track worse than the track itself? Hahaha, well I'm sorry guys, It was arrogant of me to make such a start on here, but at the time I was excited, as I always am when I make a new track... Speaking of which, I just finished spending 2 weeks on a new track....ehm, I don't know what to say about it, its certainly not traditional goa and i think its very unique, but I'm gonna stop right there and let the crowd judge for themselves...err, tommorrow when I put it up (its techincally done now but I want the first listen to go to a special someone who inspired it) As for the one minute clip from that other song I was working on - thanks for the warm feedback, I'll post a link whenever I finish that one. I tend to spend a rediculous amount of time on my tracks, 20-40 hours (though to me that doesn't seem like much) That translates into maybe one song every 1-2 weeks if I'm working as fast as I can through all my availible time. I try very hard to keep a track from being repetitive and its my goal to make a track seem to constantly be moving, changing, evolving and changing directions (yet at any given point can still be recognized as something from the same package) , I want the music to be able to take you somewhere special. That is my goal, whether thats what my music is like or not, only time will be able to tell... for now there is not nearly enough of it to judge it like that. Therefor, I always want to be doing something new and interesting - why spend so much time making the same thing or different versions of the same thing thereof. As I gain experiance (and time) I hope it'll all start to settle down and my style will take a concrete form that can be identified in any track I produce - but for now I'm still budding, there is alot of work to do and alot of expiramenting to do before I settle on what I think is my style. That, or I fail and this music stuff is not for me Which, too, is very possible. One last detail that I think will explain to some of you my attitude and maybe answer some questions (?), I'm 16 years old (well, 17 soon) and I've been learning for about a year and a half and steadily producing for about...4 months maybe? It definately was arrogant to say those things and in the future I'll let the music speak for itself. Apologies once more for the attitude. I mean, I did kind of set myself up Manuser on here recieved another song of mine (One Evolution) better than this one...its older and isn't as good in terms of sound quality, but if any interested want to hear and help me out with some feedback I'd much appreciate that. Clickedy Click Here Basically I just want to know what people like and what people don't like

Thats cool Cybernetika, you know a few days ago I was wondering what Alek's been up to - and decided to check his site - saw those tracks and thought the exact same thing as you I completely agree, Alek's driving the Finnish Freeform (FINRG) scene with more style than anyone else. When I first heard some of his stuff (Darkstar is still a favorite) I was pretty amazed, all his works are very unique. I think its something to do with the percussions in his tracks that drive them with so much energy... either way yeah its great stuff. Definately more of an expiramental psy flavor than hardcore. As for the speed - when you get into the rythm and the acid squeels it locks you in, you'd be daring it to go faster when you really enjoy it - thats the deal behind freeform.

Using Fruity Loops Studio...
Aeros replied to Psychocell's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
After setting up your computer keyboard (or midi keyboard for that matter, or any other input device), open the piano roll-out, make sure the player is set to sequence not song and then hit the record button and play away. After hitting stop your notes'll be recorded. Be sure to quantitize your notes (piano rollout -> options (thing on the far top left that looks like a piano) -> tools -> quantitize) to get them to line up properly, unless you're doing guitar or something where you wouldn't want that. -
The top one by Siberius is very good actually

Whats with the hostility, mate? Music is music. The crowd can think whatever it wants just as I can.
-
Nice, I'm born in Bulgaria too Deepthrone Kazvum se Bogdan I was just sharing an opinion with that statement, I guess the crowd here took it a little too seriously. Its cool though, I heard what I should have heard.

Thank you for the tips, I've been working hard. Got something new comming soon I'm keeping your suggestions in mind Heres quick 1 minute clip. The production is much improved from the previous one, but I'm unsure of the lead synth, let me know what you think please.
-
I meant I was aiming for something like that on purpose and I wasn't going to consider differences in taste as advice on how to improve But don't take that wrong either. Indeed, If it was perfect already I might as well stop producing right now since I'd have attained my goal - but no, there is no such thing as perfect. I'm aware, thank you
-
Yeah, a friend suggested to bring out some of the melodies at some parts so that it doesn't sound so packed all the time - but that was an effect I was aiming for - either way I like it how it is, build downs would have helped too but I was trying to make the whole song be one big climax, I didn't want it to slow down until the end. Thanks for the comments though

Fresh off the renderer, my new track is complete. This is only the 5th song I've ever made and already I enjoy my music more than some of the pro stuff I've heard. Feedback and constructive criticism is MUCH appreciated. Hear the new tune here http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?PID=572346&T=6011 BTW this is all Fruity Loops 5 (with some original Sytrus stuff, TS404 and FM7 for the strings) oh and theres over 200 individual patterns used in this song, I'm not kidding when I say its intense (take that filteria )
