  1. Hello everyone, the other day I came home from a bar at 3 in the morning completely wasted and made this mix, which much to my surprise the next morning is pretty awesome, which is why I wanna share it with you guys. I really like the flow and track selection of things, and the mixing is surprisingly solid considering the level of inebriation (not squeaky clean perfect, but hey..) I would call this music "pure trance", even though 80% of these tracks go under the category of Techno at Beatport. At the end you will recognize some familiar psy-names Why dedicate this Mix to Barry Manilow you ask? I don't know, when I woke up the next morning that's the title I saw that was the title I had given it the night before. I guess I probably thought that because this mix is so melodic and Barry Manilow always has such beautiful melodies when he sings, it would just make perfect sense. And that one song is called "Ode ao Sol" so that probably inspired me to call this Mix Ode an Barry Manilow which translates to "Ode to Barry Manilow" 1.) Will Saul - 3000 AD - Simple Records 2.) Einmusik - Fleur de Lis - Italic Records 3.) Paul Nazca - Kukrapok - Stolen Moments Records 4.) The Droyds - All I ever wanted (Dusty Kid Needs Love Mix) - Rebirth Records 5.) Daso - Meine - Spectral Sound 6.) Rodion - Luna Dark (Oliver Koletzki Mix) - Gomma Records 7.) Hugg & Pepp - Moderkaka - Dahlbeck Records 8.) Paul Nazca - Legende - Giant Wheel Records 9.) Peter Juergens - Love It - Room Records 10.) Britney Spears - Breathe On Me (James Holden Mix) 11.) Kino Oko - The Day to Die (La Baaz Remix) - Coldgroove Records 12.) Perfect Stranger & Pena - Ode Ao Sol - Flow Records 13.) Freq - Avatar - Mikrokosmos Records 14.) Kino Oko - Dead Birds in the Sky - Horns & Hoofs REcords This Mix is in 192 kbps and turned out to be 83 minutes, I guess I forgot to cut it off at 80. Oh well.... I shall leave with this portrait of Barry for your personal enjoyment. You can stare at it on your screen when you listen to this mix, i ensure you many pretty and fluffy dreams:

  6. Hi everyone, through a fortunate twist of fate a friend of mine got a hold of my favourite Dominik Eulberg's new album Bionik to be released on Cocoon in a couple of weeks and gave it to me. Anyways, my first opinion is that all of the slow tracks on that album are exceptional, so I decided to make a Ketamine-Valium themed techno mix around Eulbergs slow tracks and other stuff I got off Beatport lately. And since Dominik Eulberg always has such funny german names for his tracks that revolve around animals and plants, I gave this mix the beautiful name Der verstrahlte Rotbackenlurch vom Putlitzer Waldsee der in zu viel Hippielauge gebadet hat und deshalb jetzt gar nicht mehr klar kommt und denkt, daß er ein Wildschwein ist This is the tracklist: 1.) Dominik Eulberg – Der Traum vom Fliegen - Cocoon 2.) Shackleton – Blood on My Hands (Ricardo Villalobos Apocalypso Now Mix) – Skull Disco 3.) Quince – Sofar – Music Man Records 4.) Dominik Eulberg – Are You Afraid of Seeing Stars – Traum 5.) Pier Bucci – Chiloe – Crosstown Rebels 6.) Eltron – Muse (Dave DK's Endless Summer Mix) - Festplatten 7.) Italoboyz – Viktor Casanova – Mothership 8.) Lucy – Glass Computer (Masaya Dub) – Perspectiv Records 9.) Dominik Eulberg – Rattenscharf – Cocoon 10.) Terje Bakke – Baloons are Better Than Flowers – Lordag Records 11.) Karmina – Wonder 21 (Mathew Jonson's 21 Roses Mix) – Opossum Recordings 12.) Martin Buttrich – Hunted – Cocoon 13.) Dominik Eulberg – Löwenzahn-Luftwaffe – Cocoon 14.) Lazy Fat People – Low Profile (2000 and One Remix) – Perspectiv Records 15.) Dominik Eulberg – Bienenstich - Cocoon And before I forget, it's 77 minutes so it fits a CD. Have fun kids, and don't take too much Ketamine!
  7. As much as I am not a fan of Posfords stuff, it has to be LSD. That is the quintessential track of our scene, the granddaddy of them all. For my personal musical development there were two really, really important tracks. The first was Union Jack Red Herring, and then 5 years later Atmos - Klein aber Doctor.
  8. First of all, I dont know shit about sound production. That being said, For me, in electronic music, the sound quality is part of the music. I remember when Atmos Headcleaner came out, i was just blown away by the sonic consistenncy of those bassline he used, they were omnipresent, yet you could hardly hear them. Maybe its because I dont ave any idea of production, but I am mystified by great production quality, and bad quality just turns me off.
  9. Thanks OD I'm amazed how many people downloaded this mix, i just checked the download stats and it was over 70. I thought it would end up being like 10 or 20 at the most. Anyways, I'll upload a few more more soon, one is gonna be my favorite rocking Sunday afternoon psy classics spanning from 96-2007 and one is gonna be sedated ketamine-valium-dub-techno-house style, so one for the party and one for the ride home and comedown
  10. success.. hm, and now, let's sqeeze reger out.

    *squeeze*

  11. hm, didn't seem to work. I'll try again.

  12. i'm sorry Charlie, but it's my duty to sqeeze you out of boxes.

  13. Wow, Oopie, thats quite a compliment! Thanks! But, does this one go over 80 mins? I thought it was 78 so it would fit on a CD. Anyways, I wil definitely do a new mix once inspiration hits me again, its lots of fun with my new set-up.
  14. Hi everyone, after moving into my new place in america I got my new DJ set-up in place and recorded my first mix on it. It starts out a little housey and the goes into deep hypnotic techno , don't be afraid, its not minimal at all, lots of sounds and stuff going on. It's basically the kind of music I'm into these days. I gave this mix the pretty name I'm a little birdy and I can flyyyyyy Here's the tracklist, its around 78 Minutes in total: 1. Beanfield - Tides feat. Bajka (Ripperton Mix) - Compost 2. Will Saul & Lee Jones - Hug the Scary - Aus 3. Estroe - Driven - Connaisseur Superieur Recs. 4. Kollektiv Turmstrasse - Tristesse - Connaisseur Recs 5. Holy Ghost - Mad Monks on Zinc (Martin Buttrich Mix) - Flying Circus 6. Sebastien Thibaud - There is no Matter - Scandium 7. Supermayer - Saturndays - Kompakt 8. Nass - Nass B - Teile 9. Sian - Flood - Octopus Records 10. Moonbeam - What Dreams may Come - Mezzotinto 11. Minilogue - Space - Traum Schallplatten 12. Maxime Dangles - Maniflexy (Delon & Dalcan Mix) - Scandium 13. Dominik Eulberg - Björn Borkenkäfer (Heimische Gefilde Edit) - Traum Schallplatten 14. Marc Houle - Techno Vocals - Minus Have fun, kids, and don't forget to bring a towel!!
  15. So I got that Vestax controller, and I have to say it's pretty awesome! Especially those dual function jog wheels are really cool, it almost feels like a vynil, well not quite, but its a very good emulation. I only have good things to say about that controller, except that the EQ knobs go really, really heavy, I hope they'll soften up with time. Other then that, I still have to figure out all the little tricks and gadgets of the Traktor software, but with "normal mixing" i pretty much got it figured out. Just one thing, DO NOT TRUST THE SYNC BUTTON!!! It is evil if you dont manually establish a beat grid for the songs in the mix. It's good to get an approximation, but in the end my naturally learned beatmatching skills come in very handy, because somehow i always have to finetune every mix. And establishing beatgrids for every song in my collection just seems very silly. Anyways, heres the first mix I recorded with my new toys, its mostly deep hypnotic melodic techno, I gave it the pretty name I'm a little birdy and I can flyyyyyyy Like I said, no fancy Traktor trickery yet, just a straight up blended DJ Mix. Thanks a lot Sammy and Fohat for your help again, I'm really enjoying myself with all the new gear
  16. Yeah, I started Dj'ing in 1995, I actually have over 1000 Vynils still sitting in my friends basement who are screaming to get digitized when I return to Germany next year. I'm just not much of a computer expert and have no idea of MIDI and such. My music playing was always totally analogue, i totally skipped the CDJ phase cause I dont like the handling of it. Now, with the Traktor 3, as far as I have figured it out, there are lot more possibilities then just normal mixing. Plus its so comfortable and easy to transport, perfect for my grown-up always moving lifestyle now Thanks for everyones advise, but what do you think of that Audio Kontrol 1 by NI soundcard thing. That would be what I need, right? And you are 100% right getting the Torq would mean having wasted money on the Traktor 3... but I think its better to get into Traktor anyways since I figure it will be the indiustry standard in the future.
  17. Thanks Fohat! Actually, I come from a Vynil background, but I moved around so much lately aqnd I know I will keep moving so I gave away my turntables. I hate playing with CD's, I like this laptop thing a lot better, if I go digital, I will really go digital. I used to use Mixvibes with timecoded Vynils, but like I said I gave all of that away a year ago, but now I ave been itching to start mixing again, in some form or fashion, and as compact and Move-friendly as possible. I will use this mainly in my bedroom to record mixes, but when I return to europe Im sure I will play at a lot of friends parties, meaning around 200-300 drugged up crazy people in some dark berlin basement who are too wasted to notice the difference between good and bad quality. Usually with Mixvibes I played 320 kpbs MP3's from beatport or kompakt-mp3 and no one ever complained. So thats my situation. Definitely not pro, but I will play in low-tech public venues from time to time for people who are not sound-fetishists. I guess a good Midi Controller (I looove that Vestax, it looks so pretty, I'm in love and like i said I always had Vestax mixers for some reason) and soundcard around 200-300 will do it (any concrete suggestions, how about that audio-1 from NI?) Thats definitely in my budget, as well. BTW, Sammy, i did some research online and everyone advised heavily gainst that Behringer all-in-one thing cause it always crashes?
  18. Thanks, I did some searching on the net as well, I came up with the same list. I'll probably go for the Vestax, since I have always had vestax mixers and really liked them and my finances are looking good, I think I should reward myself
  19. Hello my dear tech-heads, this is my first post in this sub-forum. So I have succumbed to the comforts of mixing on a Laptop and bought Traktor 3. I fucked around a bit and mixed just using the mouse and hotkeys, and obviously I feel very limited with the interaction possibilities. So, I need some kinda hardware real-life mixer that lets me manipulate the mixer in traktor. I have regular laptop that just has one audio output, i.e. the headphone. I have no idea whatsoever about soundcards and Midi and such, so if someone could explain to me what to buy and how to connect all that I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
  20. psychomachine as for side projects: as a child i could walk on the ceiling
  21. Anyone knows this track from this Ozora Video, another one of those goosebump inducers:
