Hi This is not really a matter of discussion anymore, but I wanted to tell you I'll have to put some ad on psynews. The elders here know we have been self-hosted for 6 years. It consumed a part of my bandwidth and I would pay the connection just like i'm anyone else. In mid-2007, it was not possible anymore due to several technical and non-technical constraints, and Manu Psysurfeur was kind enough to share his dedicated server with us in september. This server has a price though. Psysurfer told me it's ok for him to let our part for free since he has his own banner on his website which generates enough money for the whole hosting. However I think it's unfair since we generate many more hits with psynews.org, suntriprecords.com and filteria.com than him only with psysurfeur.com. Well, I'll add a banner here in the next days, probably in the page header, and I wanted to make you aware. This won't be a huge banner though, nothing taking half of the page space, no thank you. Note that I'm against ads myself whether they are on TV, in the tube or on the Internet, but the benefit is you can use any ad-remover so as not to see them on the Internet...The rest of you not using this software can still click on some ad once in a while to finance our server I could put a simple button "finance our server" somewhere here, which would redirect on some paypal account, but I'm quite sure there wouldn't be many donations. There is another option for later: offering labels to buy some banner space, just like Saikosounds do. It would not be Viagra and shit and would be still focused on Psytrance. I don't have the infrastructure to do that at the moment but I'm seriously thinking about it. What are your reactions ?

The Goasia album From Other Spaces is officially scheduled for November 12th '07. That was kind of a rush to have this release ready on time, but it's such a superpack of wonders that it would have been a shame to release it later ! At the moment I'm writing this, the object of this avalanche of superlatives is flying from Tim Schuldt's mastering lair to the press factory. I found this album much much better than Shift's latest opus Alternator, and also better than Pitch Hiker's first album. It's definitely not a disappointing sequel, like the Twisted System one. This is not full on, this is not dark, this is so much typical frenzy ZA style. The closest I can find which is not from South africa is CPU's first album. The guys are pushing their explosive musical skills very far and this gives a radical album full of crazy & massive ideas all along, up to the remix of Columbia that I found more mysterious and complete than the original. It's not flawless either. Some tracks could have been much better imo, but the whole thing is very homogenous and satisfying. I've listened to it several times and never skipped a track. It deserves a good 7/10 but the guys should pay attention to renewing their style now.

It's in progress. Files are being copied, all being backupped. I hope to move the site this night, so it's available to the public on the new location from tomorrow morning. I'll move the stats, the ftp, and all the rest nobody knows it exists in the following days.

Ah the migration couldn't start yesterday for several reasons, it will happen tonight and tomorrow. It's urgent since we got 3 more reboots in these last 24 hours. The server logs show nothing, this is probably a major failure (memory or network card). Between the oment i'll copy the files from this server to the other and the moment the switch will be effective, all changes to the filesystem here will be lost. So please try not to update your avatar this week end.

Hi I already told you the server has shown some instabilities since I upgraded it back in march. Skytrancer has been hosting the machine after I left Paris and I couldn't take care of it properly. In august I met Manu Psysurfeur http://psysurfeur.com/ and he agreed to host psynews on his own server, a proessional one. I hadn't had the time to take care of it since one month. This week the server is rebooting quite often, showing even more signs or imminent death. I'm starting to migrate it tonight. - I will do as much as possible without preventing you from posting. - At some point, posting will be disabled. You will still be able to read the forums. At that time, I'll be making the database backup and transfering the files to the new server. - Then the service will be cut, the time for the DNS servers worldwide to resynchronize "psynews.org" to the new server IP address. - And it'll be done. thanks for your comprehension. mars.

I listened to this compilation today. It sounds sweet all along. Siebzehn tracks are the most impressive, quite close to what CBL or SolarFields do. This compilation isn't revolitionary but it hilights "less mainstream" artists with a strong potential who provide the listener with a brillant journey.
