  3. It depends on the mood you're in I guess. There are plenty of tracks that take me up there, lots of them I heard at party's I don't even know. But seriously (besides the usual Koxbox or Hallucinogen tracks) AP's Solid Electronics, not because of psyched out leads, but for it's effectiveness on the dancefloor. A real groove monster. Zirrex has some really fucked up psychedelic tracks, I'd go for Mars-4(edit: or self-titled track Zirrex). Production is not that good but his tracks impose progression. Spacetravel in the finest goa tradition.
  4. @mars: I was just thinkin' if it was possible to make an archive of pdf-files or e- books of psytrance related topics and put it somewhere on psynews. Or is it too much work? I'm willing to help you with finding stuff on the net. I know you have Google to search for it but if you want something in particular, like this e-book, it seems not that easy.
  5. On line radio is even better, now I can really check out new stuff. This is great thanx
  6. After reading these very elaborate reviews, nicely done by the way, I can say you're right Astral Projection has adapted a more clubby-oriented style since, and even prior to, Amen. Though AP has always been regarded as Goa-pioneers, they always have been embraced by Clubtrance Dj's across the globe. Think of John oo Fleming for instance, or Paul Oakenfold, using Astral's tracks in their Dj-sets and compilation albums even in the 90's. Haven't heard any Goa-freak complain about that. I prefer Goa over Clubtrance any day, but I do enjoy some mixed Ministry of Sound Clubtrance compilation albums. My point is, though they sound clubby, I haven't heard a Clubtrance track similar to what AP is doing or has done imo. AP has always flirted with the more clubby-oriented trance but never turned their backs to their Goa fanbase. You can say what you want about the Amen album, or their recent output, they never abandoned their sound or style if you ask me. They never jumped on the Fullon-bandwagon, I think they produced 2 similar-to-Fullon tracks, neither did they sell their soul to commercial pop trance style. I think it's possible you can crossover between styles without losing your identity like AP does. That being said Amen isn't their strongest album to date. They tried to improve their sound a bit but without alienating them from the fans. Don't forget this was a time when Goa was lying flat on his back, with very few Goa releases. It resurrected from 2003 on, thankfully, but I give them props for doing what they did back then when most artists followed the Fullon movement. I think pretty much everything has been said about the tracks so here are my fav tracks: 2, 3, 4, 7, 8(why not ),9 7,5/10
  7. It's just a reference to a particular period in time. Old school or News school(neo)Goa-trance are just 2 names for the same style, the only distinction is the time in which the artists were active. Hence the thread is a NEOGOA poll, it's helpful to know the timeline here. Nothing more, nothing less
  8. I discovered Colorbox 10 years ago. I had been going to parties for a while but had no idea where I could get/purchase this wonderful music called Goatrance. I remember very well, while visiting a friend, I heard the World of Goatrance vol 1&2 (ZYX) at his house and was amazed by the quality of the tracks. The likes of Hyperion; Bypass Unit; Psygone; Kuro; Shidapu and offcourse Colorbox. Luckily I could find them in a shop a few months later, still loving them now as much as I did back then. I downloaded the Train to Chroma City from itunes. You can say I am in love with the Danish Goa-sound from back then. So rich in sound, melodies and emotions. I hope you guys, René & Kenneth, are gonna produce some more in the future and hopefully get the attention you deserve. Thanx for producing some of the best Goatrance ever!
  9. It's for certain now the deal's closed. Within a few days I will have my copy of I.F.O. and can officially join the small elite who own an original copy of this classic + Family of Light and some other dear babies. I can show off a little bit now can I?
  10. My info about the new-school stuff is too limited to participate. But Zirrex and synSUN would be up there with the best of the best, they very much remind me of the old days.
  11. Is Zirrex or SynSUN considered as new or old school. This qoute says 2003 as the start of the new-school era.
  12. Can you put prices next to those babies
  13. A small injection of critique into the Newschool Goa arena: I can't stop noticing the very few chord progressions happening in the NS Goa tracks I've listened to. Most of them are in one & one key only for the whole track as opposed to some of my favourite older tracks by AP, MFG or Pleiadians to name a few. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot going on in the tracks which is interesting but I miss those dramatic, "key" changes a lot in the new tracks. I can come up with a track who has a chord progression I like and that's the Astrancer track from Energy Waves right in the middle of the track, more like a break kinda thing. Sadly just once in the whole track, it makes me want to beg for more. Maybe the artists think it's too cheesy but I think, when done nicely, it creates a huge dramatic effect which makes a track an epic one.
  14. The venue was a 10 minute bike-ride from home. I had to go home and never came back, too depressed. I've been looking forward to this for a long time. But for you it must have been even worse. See you next time skytrancer
  15. So you seem to know what he was/is thinking. He could have said NO, I won't do it. So he wouldn't have to go through all this. We all know he has new material. In the end wether there will be an album or not, that's completely up to him regardless of the poll. If he's playing we'll play the game with him. Lighten up! It's just music.
  16. I have voted 2 days ago on the twisted forum. The counter stood at 210 people desperately wanting a third Hallucinogen album. I've just visited the forum again and the counter said 244 wanted the album, seriously. Here is what I propose to the psynews community: If everyone here got an account on the twisted forum and vote EVERYONE would benefit from it. Let me explain: if you like Simon's music you should have already voted. If you didn't you're a lazy f**ker. If you like Hallucinogen's first two albums but stopped believin' in him when you listened to his recent output, go vote. When the third album sucks, you can bash Simon for eternity for all I care because I've purchased my third Hallucinogen album together with all of his devoted fans. If you don't like his music at all, it is possible yet incredible, and still go vote you can say that YOU've made your fellow psytrance-listeners( the Hallucinogen aficionado's) eternally grateful because YOU made the difference. It's all about togetherness, understanding, freedom of taste. Offcourse you're allowed, as always, to literally wipe your ass with the third Hallucinogen album. It does'nt matter because by then I will have my treasure, our treasure, yes the third Hallucinogen album, playing in my CD-player. EVERYONE'S HAPPY NOT???
  17. California sunshine in 2002(Vliersele Belgium) Astral projection 2003(Vliersele Belgium),2005(Antwerp)and 2009(Hasselt) I saw Hallucinogen 2 times I think it was in 2001(Antwerp) & 2008(Hasselt) Tim Schuldt in 2005(Antwerp) Dimension 5 in 2009(Antwerp) Koxbox in 2009(Hasselt) MWNN in 2001(Antwerp) Xerox & Illumination really can't remember when MFG I think 2004(Antwerp) Liquid Flow in 2010 was a nice surprise(Oostende) I want to add the best Dj sets: pretty much every set from Dj HUGO (DANCE-A-DELIC) and AZIV & PSYCLONE, they bring back some great memories! and last but not least BPC and Jaia a couple of years ago in Mortsel, Belgium
  18. Guess what happened as I entered the venue: Astral's flight got cancelled in big letters on the wall. This is what I've been looking forward to the whole summer. I'm depressed... Damn! I had to get on my bike and come home, get some air, ventilate,...I'm gonna go back in an hour or so when I'm feeling better, this sucks big time!
  19. One of the few bands in trance who are able to crossover succesfully. I, for one, have no expectations for the new album. The purists are gonna be disappointed I guess. If you'll excuse me now, I've gotta go see AP
  20. @reyu

    The Road.

A quite realistic end-of-time, apocalyptic movie. Slow-paced but good nonetheless. Different from other Hollywood productions though I haven't seen much of them lately. I liked the idea of not knowing what happened before the story actually started. Excellent photography, no special FX(that I know of), shot on location which contributed a lot to the credibility of the story. I cannot not think of anything bad except for the lack of action but even this has it advantage, it has no real horror in it but it's creepy. If you want your apocalyps to be realistic and intriguing then this could be one to watch for you.
  21. I've noticed Transdimensional is still available at psyshop. Is the new batch gonna be available in other shops too or only in the Suntrip shop?
  22. I'm a lover, not a producer. Who knows maybe one day...
  23. Those days aren't gonna return, we should cherish them. It was all Goa back then, it was fresh and diverse, there was this sense of togetherness but now we have to deal with the subgenres for better or for worse. It's good that Goa has returned the way it did, the production is better though it's gonna be difficult to top the music from the old days. Another advantage is that some Goa-veterans from the 90's are performing again and maybe start thinking of producing Goa again. Goa lives!
