  1. Artist: Zen Mechanics & Motion Drive Title: London Landscapes Single Label: Furthur Progressions Format: MP3/Wave digital download Released: September 2009 Review: In the spring a new label saw the light of day. Furthur Progressions was the name, and behind this new player on the progressive scene were the two british DJ’s Bedouin and Hamish, who have played on major festivals like Boom, Universo Paralello and Fusion. The first release was the compilation “London Landscapes”, and it featured artists like Ace Ventura, Liquid Soul, Dickster and Shadow FX – very impressive for a first release, and it generally had a high quality, which is why I consider it one of the best progressive psytrance releases this year. Initially the release should have contained a track by Zen Mechanics and Motion Drive, but it got cut from the tracklist at some point, and now it’s here as a digital download release including a remix by Visua. 01. Zen Mechanics & Motion Drive - Outwards [136 BPM] I consider both Zen Mechanics and Motion Drive among the best in the new breed of psychedelic trance artists, and both have succeeded in combining pounding, tight full on basslines with more fluid, hypnotic sounds of progressive trance. “Outwards” is just that; the bassline and groove sounds very Zen Mechanics-ish, while the mellow, classy morning elements seem to be Motion Drive’s touch. A real beauty of a track, and one that makes me wish it was summer again, so I can play it outdoors. 02. Zen Mechanics & Motion Drive - Outwards (Visua Remix) [136 BPM] The Mexican progressive trance artist Visua is given the tough task to follow up with a remix of an already amazing track, and even though he doesn’t quite match the same quality as the original, it does have great potential. The bassline isn’t quite as distinct and in-your-face, but the whole track seems a bit more organic, groovy and hypnotic, and there are some extra melodic elements towards the end that really works well with the elements from the original. Good remix. Bottom line: Furthur Progressions have really released a great follow-up for their first release. This EP is one of the best digital download releases this year when it comes to progressive psytrance, and one can only wish that both Furthur Progressions, Zen Mechanics, Motion Drive and Visua will follow up with more in the future. Two great, hypnotic and energetic progressive tracks for less than 4½ Euro is a great deal as I see it. Recommended release. Favorites: 1 (!!), 2 Verdict: 8/10 Links: Buy the release here: https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/release/detail/192078/London%20Landscapes%20Single Furthur Progressions on Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/furthurprogressions Zen Mechanics on Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/zenmechanics Motion Drive on Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/motiondrive Visua on Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/visuaa

  8. Had the pleasure to play before them at a party here in Denmark, and their music surely had the crowd jumping and grooving. They have a comical approach to progressive trance, their melodies are quite crooked and their music surely isn't pretentious, but personally I must say that it doesn't rock my boat. You say that it's very original, but I still hear the same offbeat "funky" bassline that's been hammered to death by lots of German artists for many years, although at slightly slower BPM's, and generally this wacky progressive sound has already been quite huge here in Denmark for instance with acts like Bufo. It's a matter of taste though, and I am sure a lot of people will like the sound of Pusherstreet. Good review and nice initiative with the free release by the way. Hopefully more people will discover Pusherstreet
  9. Artist: Antix Title: The Hoard Label: Iboga Records Cat number: IbogaDigital48 Format: Digital download MP3/Wav Release date: October 2009 Release information: Hot on the heels of "Box of Birds", "The Hoard" sweeps in like a swarm of bees with it's bass hovering like a Iriquois over Vietnam. With a super smooth rhythm section, haunting pads and slick hook you'll see why its already been given the thumbs up from Digweed and being played on his Transitions Radio show proving to have the midas touch. To accompany the release, we've included 3 cracker mixes. First by none other than Dousk, who has been rocking it out from Baroque to Bedrock and many in between, he delivers a tasty rendition that is most definitely rampant Dousk. Next up Magik Johnson who's been releasing of late with Jesse Rose on "Made to Play", Nic Fanciulli on "Saved" and King Uniques "Curfew". Magik pulls something special from his box of tricks, a fine teched out number which casts its spell and completes the threesome. Finally, but not in anyway the least, new-comer and fellow NZ'er Pieter Borgh concludes the package with a absolute beauty that has to be heard to be believed. So enough of the words and enjoy the sounds- it's guaranteed to give you a throbbing "Hoard On". Tracklist: 01. Antix - The Hoard 02. Antix - The Hoard (Dousk Remix) 03. District 9

One of the best sci-fi movies I've seen in a very long time. Realistic atmosphere, great character-development and some excellent laughs here and there. The laughs luckily aren't cheap and overdone as in the horrible Terminator-movies though.

  15. Title: Persistence Made by: DJ pr0fane (Denmark) Label: Iboga Records Style: Techno/tech house Total playing time: 100 minutes Date: 6th of September, 2009 Format: MP3 (VBR) Size: 148 MB Equipment used: Pioneer CDJ200 & Numark Axis 2 + Pioneer DJM400 Download/streaming URL: http://soundcloud.com/pr0fane/pr0fane-persistence About "Persistence": As most people know, the psychedelic trance and techno scene has made some strong ties in the last couple of years. I’m very fascinated by the psy/techno crossover sound, but if you dig deeper into the techno scene than the obvious psy-related artists and labels, there’s also an enormous world of equally great music to discover. In this mix I’ve tried to encompass some of the sounds I find interesting in the tech house and techno scene at the moment. It starts with some very mellow, melodic tech house and goes into deeper, more tribal sounds before reaching a climax with peak-time, oldschool techno tracks and finishing with more trance-inspired tunes in the end. Hope you like it Tracklist: 01. Pascal Vert - When Time Stands Still // Global Underground 02. Matzak - African Roots (Rodriquez Jr. Mix) // Boxer 03. 16. Artist: Save The Robot Title: Soul Analogy Label: Iboga Records Cat number: IbogaDigital45 Format: Digital download MP3/Wav Release date: September 2009 Release information: Iboga Records Presents a new digital download EP with The Israeli duo “Save the Robot”. Behind the knobs we find the two experienced composers Ari Linker (Alien Project) & Ido from the project Quadra, who both have been among the most popular psychedelic trance acts in the last 10 years, with their music appearing such places as the Hollywood movie “Man On Fire” as well as in the Playstation game Gran Turismo 4. After years of focusing on hard, full on trance they have decided to seek out new directions and expand their musical horizon, and so far the results have been massive, with releases on the top international house-labels Pacha and Play Digital, as well as remixes for Deadmau5 and Oliver Giacomotto on the way. We at Iboga Records are therefore proud to present the newest release from “Save The Robot”, consisting of the two tracks “Soul Analogy” and “Mars Needs Time”. Tracklist: 01. 17. Artist: Liquid Soul Title: Liquid Soul EP Label: Iboga Records Cat number: IbogaDigital46 Format: Digital download MP3/Wav Release date: September 2009 Release information: Iboga Records Presents a new digital download EP with Liquid Soul, containing three strong remixes by Martin Roth, Perfect Stranger & Lenny Ibizarre. Especially his remix for “Sensation Seekers” was a big hit and was #1 for a long time. Perfect Stranger (Israel) has risen to become one of the top selling artists at Iboga Records with his unique psychedelic trance and techno fusion sound. His latest album “Free Cloud” has received massive appreciation from a wide audience on a global scale and from that album we saw the track “Easy” become a big hit on the beatport techno chart. The track is also remixed by Iboga Records label boss Michael Banel a.k.a. Behind Blue Eyes. He has taken the track into darker territory with his slightly more upbeat interpretation. Furthermore the EP consists of the two tracks “Monitor” & “Spunk” previously released on the “Connect The Dots“ album earlier this year. Tracklist: 01. Yotopia - Domination 02. 19. I hated it. All those pathetic "life is like a box of chocolates" "Forrest Gump"-like words of wisdom had me on the verge of puking. Also, the love-story didn't work for me at all, and Cate Blanchett was awful. Especially the scenes at the hospital, when she was on her deathbed, I felt like strangling her. Major disappointment.
  20. Does it really matter if it's psychedelic or not? Good music is what it's all about for me personally, and that whole elitist "this or that is/isn't psychedelic" is so old and bores me to death. It was exactly the same discussion with the minimal-wave back around the millenium, as well as with all the Astrix-clones after his debut album. Psychedelia is all subjective anyways.
  21. Hands down, Son Kite: Vernon - Wonderer (Son Kite Remix) Tegma - Revolution (Son Kite Remix) Cosma - Out Of Range (Son Kite Remix) System 7 - Planet 7 (Son Kite Remix) Morphem - Ambrosia (Son Kite Remix) All are amazing!
