  1. Man With No Name - Sugar Rush? Maybe someone can even spot the mix from that ear rape.
  2. Your last three links bear uncanny similarity... Den Harrow - Charleston (Was a model, didn't sing on his records. An American did. That's why you can understand the lyrics.) (Not a model. Did sing on his records. Performs live too. I don't know if he really should.) (Didn't speak English, sang it anyway. It took decades to figure out the lyrics.) Gary Low - La Colegiala (Neither an American nor Italian. It's still italo, though.) OK, , and a wonderful keyboard player in addition to her usual assets. Best genre ever.
  3. It's quite interesting how a new member signs up, asks for genre recommendations, calls most music "boring" and then starts "people don't deserve to hear music" trolling.
  4. Finnish "y" is strictly a vowel, practically like German "ü". Finnish "ö" is the same as German ö. Swedish, other Nordic languages and Estonian use similar vowels. (This is not a coincidence, because Finnish written language was derived from German and neighbouring languages in the 16th century.) Both of these vowels can be tricky for foreigners, because they don't exist at all in many European languages. Also, Finnish frontal y, ä and ö are completely separate from their back vowel counterparts u, a and o. Mixing them up will make entirely different words (or usually gibberish). Therefore "skipping the dots" is far worse than forgetting an accent in other languages, for example. It's changing from a vowel to another, plain and simple. Also, the German alternate spellings ue, ae and oe are never used. This is quite important, because Finnish is vowel heavy. All eight of them are always pronounced clearly and distinctly - never skipped, shortened or altered. That was the hard part. "Yö" means night, and consists of two potentially difficult vowels. "Jalka" (foot) is easier. You can start much like in "young" for the "ja" part, and the remaining letters are generally like in most civilised (Latin-based) languages. In fact, most Finnish letters apart from those extra front vowels can be pronounced like in Latin. As for the meaning of "nightfoot"...it's actually a sort of pun (like many Finnish psy artist names). The basic, nominative case is rarely used. "Yöjalassa" or "yöjalalla" (being in/on nightfoot) is an old phrase, which means sneaking in the night for romantic intents. Is there still something you need to know?
  5. Faggotry is so out of fashion. So, I listened to this again in free time and better playback. From the title, I was expecting more ethnic and slow stuff. Therefore the first half worked better for me than some of the electro-acid-4/4 beat tracks of the second half. The transitions were, let's say, quite hectic. The mix changes quickly from one style and tempo to another. Some like it that way to keep things interesting, I tend to build my downbeat mixes with more continuity and slower changes. What works, depends on the situation and audience so I won't force people do it one way or the other. It's easier to rate these things if people share a word or two about their goals. There are indeed big tunes in the selection. I already had Rogue Bagel checked for my next "best of" home mix. That's how much I like it. (Looks like that mix is ultimately going to be slower, though.) I think effect buttons are better left alone, but that's my personal allergy coming from certain sessions where people overused them vastly, typically drunk... I'll definitely keep this mix, and keep it safe. New ones are also welcome. (with listings )
  6. There are plenty of mixes out there. Usually I start with those with a track listing. After all, I'm trying to discover music, not to hire a mystery DJ. You are an avid supporter of revealing track names too, right? Anyway, today I listened to this one at work. I have comments, but I'll keep them secret for a while.
  7. 1200 Mics manages to take embarassingly stupid drug samples to a whole new level... Any speech sample repeated a million times (where "a million" means approximately >2) is an instant mood killer for me. Speech is all about advancing from one thing to another. People don't repeat the very same phrase ad infinitum. If they do, it's plain annoying. Applies 100% to music as well. This was a real plague in tracker music scene, when sample space was seriously limited. When someone found a cool vocal bit, it was used "a few more times", just to make sure that it was worth its kilobytes. Happens a lot in commercial music too, unfortunately. Was it Etnica's Trip Tonight remix on Hell's Kitchen 12" which had that near-incomprehensible mumble? When I first heard it on a mixtape, I was 100% sure it was a terrible DJ voiceover recorded in a tiny booth. I still don't believe it really belongs to that track. Yep, Toxic Brainwaves could have done without that stupid sample. On the other hand, I really liked Tribalistic. One of the best speech-enhanced breakdowns right after Aeternum's Chainsaw.
  8. Around here supermarkets have crates full of stuff like "New Pops Orchestra Plays Abba with Panpipes" or "London Synth Orchestra's Tribute to the Titanic Soundtrack". All these "orchestras" usually mean one sad geek with a cheap midi synth, just releasing his stuff on CDs instead of .mid background tunes on the internet. Dig some bargain bins and pick the cheapest (by look or price). That should do the trick. Richard Cheese actually manages to improve most songs he touches. Some other covers do that too.
  9. Funny. I'd happily share a mix or two if it was anyone else asking.
  10. It sounds a lot like Âme - Rej, but not any released version I know. Because it was a huge hit, there are about 10 official mixes and many more unofficial ones floating around. Several big name DJs have used their own edits. It may be an unreleased mix, a private version, a clever mashup or possibly a ripoff under another name. I don't know any better than that.
  11. The main riff and tempo are somewhat similar to Ott's 382 Seaside. Is that what you're looking for or something even more direct?
  12. I'd say these words describe the whole album fairly accurately.
  13. Erm...now I'm forced to ask whether this is somehow a rare feature. All of my new CDs have come with flac/wav versions of the audio, plus artwork and resale value on top. Why in the world should anyone pay MORE for the audio only? There's something in this digital download world I really don't understand.
  14. Ah, the twat has arrived. How many flaming sock puppets are you going to create on this forum? http://www.discogs.com/groups/topic/180330 http://www.discogs.com/groups/topic/183630 Grow up.
  15. Right...apparently NeuTron (who made that track) = Epsilon = Juho Lepistö. He has a profile at mikseri.net, a Finnish indie music site. Even more project names and old tracks there... Some GoaArchive stuff has been rereleased under Jolly Roger nick. Apparently he was also known as Reaper in the tracker music scene. I gotta see if I have any of his modules stacked on my HD. It was a small but intense world back then. That's plenty of names for one fellow. Maybe he still has the originals? It never hurts to ask for a high quality copy...
  16. I did a bit of googling. Various old trance sites link to goaarchive-com (un-linked, because the site has expired and there's only a domain squatter popup hell there). Archive.org (gah, archive overload) still has it. The real site was taken down in 2002. Everything thereafter is just spam. There's indeed "Sub Space" and a lot more in the music section. Then, you can take a look at reply #36 of this topic. Apparently it was a free music project of five Nordic guys, also hosted at mp3.com. I don't think there's any problem with sharing the files further. Of course, you can ask them. At least Juho appears active on that site.
  17. Q: Pleiadians - Ciberland
  18. Sorry, no answer here. But I took a stream rip, upgraded my ffmpeg build, extracted the audio and cropped the file. This is what I got: http://dolmot.net/audiobits/hubschrauber.mp3 Is that what you're looking for? Downloading 64 MB of flash video isn't exactly convenient for identification, after all. (As a side note, I already got fairly fed up with German dubbers talking about helicopters. Some company was mentioned in the end titles, but I can't watch/listen to that stuff any more...augh...)
  19. I'd love to hear these words more often. The sending back part, I mean. If I want my music ruined, I can do it myself with a few cheap squashing filters. It doesn't work the other way round. So, no hurry. The previous albums are still hot. TLWH found some good use in my yesterday's chillout set. You can count the next one already sold as well.
  20. Technossomy - Elektron Bender (Willie Mix) from the 1994 Chameleon single
  21. The Infinity Project - Overwind?
