  1. For me cheezy means that the artist tried too hard to convey an emotion through the artwork. Being hit over the head with something does not work for me. And imo, Labyrinth is rampant with such obvious grandiose-instilling almost patriotic feelings even if well-executed at times. It sounds too much like music that is meant to raise your self-confidence.
  2. I somewhat agree. Beautiful music, and very enjoyable, but nothing new really. Can I vote for another album? Open, fucking great piece of plastic. It is not one of my favourite progressive albums, or favourite trance albums, it is really a seminal work for anyone that is even remotely interested in any electronic music. Really different and really beautiful.
  3. OK, so not at all the same sound, but I feel that you should check Etnoscope out.
  4. There was a similar topic on isra a while back I answered: 6-8:30 Haltya 8:30-11 D-Nox 11-1:30 James Monroe 1:30-4 Sensient 4-6:30 Tamlin 6:30-9 Suncontrolspecies 9-11:30 Antix 11:30-2 Sienis Chill Space 6-8:30 Kukan-Dub-Lagan 8:30-11 Androcell 11-1:30 Shulman 1:30-4 Gaudi 4-6:30 Sir Eel/Waterjuice 6:30-9 Solar Fields 9-11:30 Ishq 11:30-2 Laswell If my choices would differ at all by now, the difference would be negligible.
  5. Voted for Electric Help Elves Would have voted for In Search of a Meaningful Moment if it was released in 2004.
  6. Also, according to ppl's definitions of euro-trance here, I don't agree that sasha fits that bill. He has been making some very interesting music lately that is neither cheezy nor emotionless. Talented guy, imo.
  7. personally, meaningful moment deconstructs me better than shpongled
  8. really? because revive and widescreen are some of my fave compilations revive for the tracks and widescreen for the overall effort (the progression is sublime on that one imo) also dug irresistible 3, but not as much the other two. if a friend buys rewire, i will check it out, otherwise, can't afford trance anymore, too much good chill coming out.
  9. today, possibly back in the late 90s, hardly i think that both albums are seminal for the whole psy downbeat movement the remixes album is fucking great too (is more my to taste) i find tales to be more interesting and more daytime oriented, and shpongled more suitable for deeper nighttime tripping. the vocalizing in divine moments is heavenly for me. if you hear these albums for the first time now and compare them to in search for a meaningful moment eg., yes you might not see what all the hype is about. however, if you first heard it when it first came out, it probably would have blown your mind if you are into that kind of psychedelic music, and for me downbeat has always been much more psychedelic than trance. whereas if a trance album is not my cup of tea, i will not listen to it, a lot of psy chillout music is not to my taste, but i still enjoy very much listening to it if it is original and done with feeling, as most of it is. and as much as i respect shpongle's music and think it is essential and original, i actually listen to it very rarely lately, because it does tend to be a bit fast for me, and because it has been so played out at parties over the years. argghh remark: androcell - emotivision also, i quite enjoy celtic cross, very interesting stuff as well. louden is still one of the most beautiful moments for me.
  10. hahahaha this is either supposed to be really funny or the ultimate proof of your stupidity
  11. Is Etnoscope eg. weak, monotonous and housy in your opinion?
  12. there are lovers of this sound in here
  13. I just realized that you like goa. If you like goa, imo, you should like progressive (not crossover housy stuff, but what ppl call psygressive) more than fullon. Much more similar in terms of structure imo.
  14. Can you fly without music?
  15. I found 2003 to be very good. Lime Structures, Aero, Fraktalik Fraterniti, Drums from the Dawn of Time, Pentafiles, Symphony, Blue Neevus, Eleventure, Eyes Rolling, FX, and my all0time favourite: Lull all come from this year. After only 2 years, I believe these to already be classics. As for chillout, we had Ott's album, Bluetech's, Shulman's album, Sir Eel's, also the third Chillosophy. Yes, the fullon by 2003 was already stale, but if you had looked beyond it by then, you would have been very pleasantly surprised by a new wave of sound. Yes, there is a lot of good progressive coming out now, but I am less excited about it now than I was in 2002-2003. Granted, the crossover progressive style is sort of new (like the PLastik Park stuff), and as much as I like it, the deeper Iboga-style (2002-2003) is the style I am in love with, and innovations in that style are rarer and rarer these days. frogacult was the only one that impressed me lately in that style. Until progressive takes the same route as did a couple of years ago and turns away from the current trends, I will probably be getting into other styles. I believe this is the year we will see more better-produced funky music a la Haltya. At least I hope. Also, twisted minimal promises to be making a comeback.

    We will be.
  17. would the pope lie about something like that?
  18. thx heard those two albums at a friend's the same night. liked deep proggy choons, but some tracks could have easily been omitted or maybe it was just the result of onle one listen
  19. Crazy, a party in New Caledonia. Never been, but from friends' pics looks to be really beautiful, and from their stories sounds to be really relaxed. Have fun

    Headphones

Mine fell apart less than a year after I bought them. The store where I bought them could not help me, and this si the first time I hear of this 2-year warranty. It is stil less than 2 years, what do I do?
  21. I am surprised we all forgot Nano Beat's Token to Thrill. Some very very very nice chunes theres.
  22. For very proggy stuff, get Slope's Proggy Chunes and the new Sound of Avalanche compilation (Kruger & Coyle's Lovejuice is on that one, yay) Already mentioned, but an essential out the latest prog: Frogacult Haven't heard yet, but promises to be really interesting, is the new Groove Zone compilation. If you can get your hands on the 2 Manta records compilations, Subduction and One Pt. Perspective, do so. Subduction is a timeless classic. not new, but sounds newer and newer every time i listen to it. For some progressive tribal grooviness, Kruger & Coyle's album, Randy Expander, massive stuff. Also look out for stuff from the label Sprout and anythink by PLastik Park.
