  1. Hey guys, it's been a long time. Hope everyone is doing well. Haven't been on Psynews these days as much as I used to because I threw down my tax returns on some really high end backpacking gear and have more or less been living in the mountains.... Anyways! I was wondering what everyones thoughts on Psytrance was these days. I recently purchased the rest of the Yabai records line, Dark Side of the Mind, Deep Fried, Azax Syndrome's Evolution, Fried Babas's Multiple Personalities and a few other CD's and I must say I am not pleased. Several of the tracks- excluding Yabai and the ones listed above; Yabai is just awesome in my book even if a few of the samples suck really, really bad- have been mastered terribly and I have heard several synth sequences/samples multiple times from other tracks in my collection.... Has all creativity been lost? Has it come to the point where the majority of the producers out there need to copy and paste in order to pump out any new CD's? I recently downloaded an Analog Pussy CD because I had never heard them before and after listening to 12 seconds of their first track I almost took my Glock to my hard drive. Luckily there are still a few producers out there who are producing grade A work *cough* everything on VA Psylight Moments compiled by DJ Ketil M and DJ Flips *Cough*. I was pretty pleased with that one :]; real dark and groovy beats.
  2. Wow, thank you very much. I haven't tried it yet but i'm sure this will do the trick : D.
  3. Was wondering if anyone knew/ or had a guide for mapping an Axiom 49 to Albino. I'm using the two with Fruity Loops, and when I try to right click one of the knobs on Albino to "create mapping"- or whatever the listing is- for the Axiom it doesn't even give me a drop down menu....
  4. Heres what I got from asking the same question awhile back :].... Darkpsy recommendations~
  5. Gah, this is awesome :posford:. I really like the Chinese bit at the end. What did you use to put this together?
  6. Yeah, I wanna hear this : (. Says it expired. I would throw it up onto mediafire~
  7. Gah, I wish I had an air purifier. I have two small dogs that shed a bit on top of their dander, tons of cables and things running all over my room that make it impossible to dust, and my skin is pretty damn dry because I hate lotion and use cheap ass soap. I can run my finger across anything in my room and make trails ; ;.... I need to see about putting some cotton balls or something under my faders and kill switches on my mixer. A few days ago I pulled the face plate off and there was dust and bits of fuzz on the little provided dust catcher. Not too worried about everything else though; I leave my midi keyboards in their boxes and my speakers have blankets over the top of them when they're not in use.... Anyone know what happens when dust builds up inside a speaker? I would think it would all be blown out, but could it affect performance over time? Probably wouldn't be noticeable I guess.
  8. I am a pretty laid back person, but when it comes to my music equipment I am a clean freak (or I try to be). Usually before I even touch my road case I wash my hands thoroughly and sometimes take a shower.... Well, usually only at the end of the day when I plan on taking a shower anyways. Other than that I always keep my things covered up and dust/ scrub keys, knobs, faders etc once in awhile. What about everyone else? If you do like to keep your things dust, smudge, and grease free how to you manage?
  9. Even if you don't decide to change the name I think Sausage Dick is fitting, though the picture that comes to mind doesn't fit the music very well . I really, really liked this track and hope that you keep coming up with new ideas; it had that awesome acid grunge to it and got me bouncing a bit. I didn't like the beginning much because it seemed a little too rigid for my tastes. You should get some floating synths in the background to mask the introduction of new elements a bit. Also, towards the end it sounded like you just copied and pasted pieces of the first sequence and hooked it up to a new synth but I could be wrong. Finally, I would say fix the very end a bit. It's too abrupt. Just my two cents, but I really liked it nonetheless :posford:. Really spacey~. If you wouldn't mind telling, what do you use for synths, sequencers, and things?
  10. Dude, this is sick! When I get the money i'm buying one of these ; ;!
  11. Ah yeah, I didn't expect you guys to know them all . Do you think jumping from progressive to kind of.... Funky groove stuff would be awkward? I'll have to get this recorded soon and post it in DJ promotion. I just went through the set again and I am pretty happy with it, but for future reference would you guys wonder what the hell is wrong with the DJ if he/she went from euphoric progressive to something as drastic as full-on/dark psy? Or would you just shrug it off and consider it "story telling," especially if the mix was smooth and felt all right?
  12. I really like Bliss's Loin King; the sirens are pretty fun, but I think they're a major cheese fiesta for a lot of people .
  13. So I threw this set together a few days ago for a little party that's coming up and I was wondering, if the DJ went from euphoric progressive into a bit of a dark funky track would you consider it "story telling" or poor track selection? I have practiced mixing through the entire set a few times and weeded out the tracks that just don't work no matter how they're mixed, but theres a few spots where the change of mood is a bit odd. I figure that in one hand it could be a good thing.... Keep people on their feet and maybe even send a few shivers down their spines, but in the other hand the cuts might be a bit too much; they're smooth and simple mixes, but it's a drastic colour change at times.... Heres the tracklist~ Opinions and feedback much appreciated~. 1) Vibrasphere- Buenos Aires (selected downbeats) 2) Tegma- Computer Disorder (Lo-fi adventures) 3) Beat Generation- The Grudge (VA) 4) Tegma- What the Fuzz (Lo-Fi adventures) 5) Kimiks- Snow View (VA) 6) Kimiks- Diaz De XL (VA) 7) Tegma- In All Ears (Lo-fi adventures) 8) Tegma- East Block (Lo-fi adventures) 9) Kimiks- Sense (VA) 10) Psylent Conspiracy- Living Organism (VA) 11) Beat Generation- Good Old Shibuya (VA) 12) Psycho Navigation System- Just a Dream (VA) 13) Dominix- Human Life (Dominix) 14) Insomnia- Rational Vision (Roller Coaster) 15) Breaking News- Stereo Junkies (VA) 16) World Vision- Color Funky Tone (VA) 17) Climate Change- Bring It Back (VA) 18) Bliss- Blisster (The Looney Bin) 19)Conundrum- Chaos (VA) 20) Ahimsa Part 2- Boiling (VA) 21) Sound Waves- El Fauna (VA) 22) Inner Action- The Future Is Now (VA) 23) Inner Action- Blast (VA) 24) Poli- Humanoid Typhoon (Electric Wonders) 25) Melicia- Suenos (Play With My Mind) 26) Melicia- Magic Stick (Play With My Mind) 27) Protoculture- Break out (Circadians) 28) Perplex- Wise Cracks Remix (Electrodelic) 29) Protoculture- Sweet Fine Crystaline (Circadians) 30) Climate Change- Tune Tech (VA) 31) Ahimsa Part 2- Mr. Mika (VA) 32) Insomnia- 24.7 (Rollercoaster) 33) Dominix- Musical Alarm (Dominix) 34) Bliss- Loin King RMX (The Looney Bin) 35) Bliss- Syner Bee (The Looney Bin) 36) Abomination- Planet X (Planet X) 37) Frozen Ghost- Multiprey (Edible Technique) 38) Ram- Serial Killer (Matsuri) 39) Barak- The Desert Moon Mystery (Twilight Cave) 40) Barak- Castle Freak (Twilight Cave) 41) Dark Side of the Mind- Gate For Hate (VA) 42) Ahimsa Part 1- Re-Stimulated RMX (VA) 43) Ahimsa Part 1- Re-Activate (VA) 44) Frozen Ghost- Deranged (edible Technique) 45) Deep Fried- Electro Undulation (VA) 46) Frozen Ghost- Mentally Squared (Edible Technique) 47) Ministry of Chaos- Malediction (VA) 48) Tryambaka- Blender (The Colour of Time) 49) Collapsed Generation- Sin Stereo remix (VA) 50) Tryambaka- Sympathy for the Parents (The Colour of Time) 51) Collapsed Generation- Kinho's Hallucination (VA) 52) Deep Fried- Rajasthan Army (VA) 53) Ahimsa part 1- Metal on Metal (VA)
  14. That would definitely help ..... Before buying any equipment I would definitely start working on a PC as stated above. Theres a lot more possibilities and power packed into a laptop.
  15. I haven't listened to the radio in years, and I almost always have music going while at home or off to work etc. The other day I forgot my book of CD's while going on some errands, and I didn't feel like listening to the radio; the silence was.... Odd ; ;. I wouldn't say it's an addiction, it's just that there isn't anything better out there . Seriously though, have you tried listening to the radio lately? It's unbelievable what kind of crap makes it to the radio sometimes. I bet I could come up with better lyrics while taking a shit, and that doesn't take long....
  16. Wow.... I am almost 90% sure that Yabai label isn't a babel fish translation, but at least they tried ^^;.
  17. Ah, I probably won't have four subs total, but the power is awesome to think about ^^;.
  18. I usually mix progressive psychedelic at any Hookah bar in town that is willing to have me whenever I get the chance. It usually goes pretty well, really laid back setting, but I would much rather mix DarkPsy or Fullon . How did the gig go?
  19. I actually ended up throwing down on a pair of SA1530z's and am hoping to get two pairs of sub's soon.... Combined with my SRM450's I should be able to attract a fairly decent crowd. I figured that since I already have a road case packed with two CDJ-200's and a DXM09 three channel mixer with more bells and whistles than most professional mixers have, I might as well get the most important component; the means to project what I am doing to the crowd. Sure DJM-1000's are fun, but honestly, who the hell could utilize all of that, especially with Psychedelic Trance..... It's really just a sound board. Even the DJM-800 is a little overboard if you ask me.
  20. Yeah, I really should go get myself a few Jazz CD's; that stuff takes some real musical talent.
  21. Ever since I began researching trance, the general structure that it is built into, it's sound qualities, production techniques, hardware, etc, it really hasn't been quite the same. It's been a long time since I have sat myself down and enjoyed the music for what it is instead of sitting there counting out the beats and predicting what sort of breakdown or buildup is coming up, and, unfortunately(?), I am usually right. Or I sit and think about how the producer modulated everything, synthesized everything, how they used filters, etc. etc.... There have been so many times that I have waited several weeks to have a good smoking session and it's been destroyed because I can't sit still, walk over to the decks, start mixing, and then it just sounds terrible or I am concentrating so hard on trying to get things right, quickly, that the experience just goes to crap. It's just not quite the same . What's it like for you guys; are you still able to just let go and enjoy the music the way you did when you heard it for the first time?
  22. Hey guys, I would love some more opinions and feedback from everyone if you wouldn't mind providing it; after all, I have a really hard time deciding what the hell I want for breakfast .... What would you say the most valuable gear a DJ can own would be? Speakers, decks, mixers, amps, cases...? After doing some banking today I found that between two countries and a couple bank accounts I have a fairly decent sized wad of cash that I never knew about. I desperately need a new car, and I really don't feel like living off $.15 for up to a week again, but I would like to get one or the other of the following in the future.... Part of me would like to buy a DJM-909- odds are high that I would end up just going with a DJM-400- but I already have a fairly well priced and semi-disposable Numark DXM09 that offers some pretty decent sound quality and gets the job done. The DXM09 is my very first mixer, so I don't actually know if sound quality can get any better with a mixer, but as far as controls/functions/effects/layout/price goes.... This is the best. Part of me would like to buy two CDJ-1000MK3's but if you ask me these things are a bit overpriced and honestly, other than the ability to save hot cues and loops, does any creativity come out of a CDJ? Part of me would like to buy two Mackie SA1530z's. They're blisteringly loud and the fidelity, depth, and power is unreal. Also, let's not forget that they're active. Paired with Mackie SRM450's they would provide an excellent experience for crowds at parties, but at home they would make gaming and listening to music all around godly. What would you guys go with?
  23. Oh god, I would never need 6 channels , especially with Psychedelic Trance. Maybe House.... Thanks for the links guys.
