  1. I should be watching (the Watchmen - got the joke? haha ) it tomorrow. I am a little afraid of the "cool slow motion" effect. It seems like there are alot of them... What do you think about them? Did they add something, or not, or were lame? And if you haven't read the books, well you should do it NOW. They must have alot more depth than the film.
  2. Yeah, Ra first, it was obvious I don't see any particular surprise in the chart, do you?
  3. I waited for the last moment but unfortunately I didn't hear many releases of this year. Trance 1;Electrypnose;Funked Up;Digital Psionics 2;Crop Circles;Tetrahedron;DAT Records 3;Jikkenteki;Flights Of Infinity;Par-2 Productions 4;VA; Opus Iridium; Suntrip Records 5;OOOD;Fourthought;Phar Psyde Chill 1;VA; Opus Iridium; Suntrip Records The most pathetic thing is these albums are the ONLY ones of 2008 I actually listened to... By the time I'll get all I want from the past years it'll be Best Of 2012! So what do you think about results? It seems like Ra - 9th is going to make it very high.
  4. For me it seems like FSOL - Lifeforms. I think they created a sonic universe that lives and evolve!
  5. It worries me a little if their only promotion is to talk about loudness, and not, let's say, about music per se...
  6. Lior says the tracks are being thought about 3 days before going to the studio. Sometimes they find inspiration just after completing a track. They do not take substances to find inspiration. "The music is our drug" says Avi (cliché alarm? ). Then how do they connect to a crowd that does have a strong relation to drug? Do they want people to like their music without the drugs? Avi says he'd love this to happen. In fact they know people who do not touch drugs yet like their music. Harel says they are almost the only ones contributing to the locale culture and its future. There are some other artists and also labels, but to a lesser extent. They do not care they don't get radio or TV time. When they release an album, people just know about it, go to stores and buy it. Then he asks them if they do not miss something, like guitars, when they get onstage. Avi says it's not like that. He's got many "brains" which are synths without keys that transfer through MIDI to the computer, so they don't need any real key (?). Then they are asked how will they evolve with this music. Lior prophesies and says it will keep its form for few years and then it will naturally change to something new. Avi says we will always want to dance and listen to electronic music and new things and not the banal things like drums and guitars (ehm...) . Then the interviewers says "drums and guitars are banal for you?..." More or less what was said.
  7. Damn, Analemma is absolutely amazing! People, you NEED to try this! Reminds me abit of Planet BEN - Ant Invasion. Really good, and perfect opener. I'm not too keen on the other tracks unfortunately. Especially Patterns In The Chaos with its vocal samples. Usually I don't really care for them, but here I didn't find them fitting. Too bad. Nevertheless the good thing is the style of the tracks is refreshing - good Psy with Goa influence. I'll try to give the other tracks more listens. Thanks for this free release.
  8. I found his track on MySpace (thanks Melancholyman ) not that bad. Seems like a sort of breakbeat if I'm not mistaking. I just find that the structure of the track is a bit chaotic... But I'll have to listen to it more. I'm a bit afraid of the guitars if there were to be any, but we'll see.
  9. As for now, things are very clear in my head. There is Hallucinogen - Twisted and closely behind (almost touching it) there is Jaïa - Blue Energy. The main thing that makes me like this album so much is the perfect journey that is conveyed throughout the tracks and the album. Unlike other super Goa Trance albums like Trust In Trance or IFO for example, the tracks are not all killer tracks. Taken separately, they perhaps wouldn't have sounded great at all, or at least they couldn't have revealed their full potential. Also, the Goa feeling is not always prevailing in the tracks. This diversity of styles and sensations is completely mastered and makes the album even more attractive. I'll just write a few words/lines about each track. Sommeil Paradoxal could take place at approximately 5 AM of a beautiful night. Stars above us, crickets in the background and we are dreaming. It is during the Sommeil Paradoxal phase that our brain electric activity is close to the one of awakening. This track succeeds in describing this ambiguous situation. We slowly emerge, not completely relaxed yet not fully awaken. What a beautiful, entrancing track. Anawa's Paradise announces the beginning of the upbeat part of the album. Again nature sounds start the track. Those sounds of flute, birds and tablas welcoming the kick are absolutely awesome and give an adreline punch. From then on, the track is taking off and the overall track is pretty repetitive, but always interesting, especially with its groove. Breathing Ocean holds a special place in my heart since it is the first Jaïa track I heard. What an atmospheric track... One of the most visual ones IMO. We clearly get the vision of the ocean thanks to the waves/wind and birds sounds (subtle and not cheesy mind you ). Melodic enough with an angelic voice to bring some (sun)light feelings and progressive with a relatively hard beat to show the power and the "breath" of the ocean. Up there with Chi-AD - The Ocean Also Dreams for the sensations. With Brainstorm we enter the Goa/Psy kingdom. Wow, impressive would be quite reducing to qualify this track. Madness melodies, rhythm and sounds. This is a whirlwind which destroys everything in its path, and your brain among those things . The melodic boost at 05:48 is unbelievable and will make your heart pop out of your thorax, your body parts shake uncontrollably and your neuronal activity explode! Nasty Angel brings some angelic nastyness . Very hard rhythm with agressive riffs (think Total Eclipse), yet we are not bathing in darkness. It is the dark side of the Sun if you want. Psychedelically delightful in a synthetic atmosphere. Maï Maï is apparently some kind of Congolesian armed group, I don't know if it is the meaning of this track name (since it seems to me there are some Asian samples in the track...). Another exquisite melodic moment. The most emotional track after After The Rain IMO. Here the description "hovering above ethereal landscapes" reaches its height. Spiritual Drops And Eternal Ices returns to roughness of sounds (a bit like Nasty Angel) but tainted with subtle melancholia which forecast the atmosphere of the last track. It is again a repetitive track, almost symmetrical to Anawa's Paradise. This is not a track I see listed among the reviewers' favourites, which I can understand. It is its hypnotic sensation that should overcome the repetitiveness and once you realise that, the beauty of the track is unveiled. After The Rain concludes the journey with an emotional and melancholic smash. It is difficult to end an album in a better way. Quite possibly one of the best last tracks of an album ever, be it an ambient track or not. The whole journey is concluded on a message of love and harmony, all this supported by the piano notes and the enchanting nature sounds. The tour de force of Blue Energy was to create/connect those tracks in a way that it actually seems impossible to have been done otherwise. The flow IS perfect in this album. The main theme would be some kind of story of nature, the revelation of primal forces and cycles of life. Check out advance's review which was written above - I do get the same visuals from the album. What I just said should hint at the album: it is VISUAL. Every track transports you emotionnaly to different places. I'd even dare to say that this album is less about music than the feelings you experience from it. It is not music, it is pure translation of emotions. I could go on and on about this album, but in the bottom line, you just have to experience it yourself. Definitely a milestone in the Goa Trance and music lanscape. My favourites: all. The ones I like to listen to separately: 2, 4, 6
  10. So far 35€ for Transwave - Helium. And that's the limit I fixed to myself. I'll reconsider it if buying something I really want (Blue Planet, IFO, early Asia 2001 etc.) will come for 40-45, but 50€ will be too much. I don't find spending a fortune on collector items interesting if it will prevent me for discovering other music because I got no money left... When I'll win Euromillions, I won't care about prices. PS: halfway to CMT! Yoohoo! :posford:
  11. Hi everybody, I don't know if many of you knew this, and I didn't see it on Psynews, so here it is, taken from BPC blogspot: The Blue Planet Corporation's 15 years compilation will be release in few weeks on Chill Tribe Records as a double CD : the First one as the UFK Years 1993-1994, and the Second one as the Unreleased tracks 1993-1994. The mastering for this compilation has been completed by Tim Valkenburg in Bali. Tim is a good friend of Gus Till and a very good sound engineer. The interest to present this old goa stuff is to release tracks that have never been on CD and to give them a new lifting sound, wich has happened with the great work of Tim. Because of the very low sale of CD's with the digital world exchange, I asked LoopsDesign to work on the design of this compilation to give people the possibility to find something about the "perfume" of the rave scene and have a nice object in hands. Loops takes the advantage to have the collages of Koolkane and Setiaum wich has been made from the beginning of 90's, and put them thru his magic use of computer with his own digital style. So finaly here is the tracklisting : UFK YEARS 93:94 1 Overbloody Flood 2 Midian 3 Genetic 4 Juno Satellite 5 Psychonaut 6 Lubianka 7 Hemo Static + Overbloody Flood (original version) 8 Generator 9 Aquablue UNRELEASED TRACKS 93:94 1 Hemo Static II 2 Telekinetic 3 Sub Sonic Underground 4 Barroco 5 Goa Disco 6 Restore Hope 7 DNA Bonus tracks 8 Entropie (unreleased version) 9 Cargo Cult (unreleased version) 10 Digital Forward Inclusion (unreleased version) The tracklisting on the first CD follow the date of publication of the 3 LP's of BPC on UFK. But apparently there are problems to release it, so it has been delayed. More here. I really hope this would see the light! And still pray for a Blue Planet re-release (miracles happen...). Also, check out his Myspace, the track Cosmic Dancer is very nice IMO.
  12. Perhaps you've already answered to this question: will it be available on CD? Like Flights Of Infinity? And is Forgotten But Not Gone which is on your Facebook profile the track from the new album (I guess yes, but just to have a confirmation)? BTW, Forgotten But Not Gone is quite different and nice. Haunting lyrics Everything was a lie, even the cake!
  13. Wow, impressive. And nice of you to go for the collector direction. Even if I'm not really an Ultimae ambient-style lover, I might just grab a copy for this "high collector value" Anyway, good luck. You don't have a fixed release date for Air I guess? EDIT: I see a 15.02.2009 on the site. I guess it's it. I think it would be kind of nice to go for more upbeat stuff with Fire and Earth. Could be a nice diversity and it sticks with the elements concept, but perhaps this was already your idea. And I'm not seeing Water? Did you forget it? Perhaps for Spring...
  14. Indeet. Top quality. This one is loaded with parodies I can't really count all of them. Hilarious. You must, MUST, MUST have a look at Tampopo. It is a Japanese film. I was laughing alot and smiled almost through the entire film. I usually am not too fond of the Japanese kind of humour but this one... cracy. I will try to make a proper review when I'll have more time (and a better internet ). Usually I have a very hard time to laugh in films, but this one is top-notch IMO. Highly recommended. Another funny film, but with a different kind of humour is of course Dr. Strangelove. Worth watching just for one of the best lines of cinema ever: "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, this is the War Room!". And the very serious bodily fluids topic .
  15. Wohow! I think it is time for some heavy relevant clips! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOkFWAglXoo...feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jweeOv7fX70 You do realise you have 8 years of drama to catch up, do you, Children?
  16. You cannot, and I mean you CANNOT talk about hardstyle and don't have this in mind Anyway, to me it sounds like Dance music sped up to sound cool. Plain simple (in a bad way). Sometimes there is some rhythm that can surprise, but overall it just sounds to me like Dancecore :phear:
  17. +1 What a track! What's wrong? It's a great one IMO. I personally like IFO more than Tetrahedron. I think the melodies are more solid in IFO. Tetrahedron is, for me, a bit like Filteria's Sky Input with melodies which are hard to listen to (melody structures I don't really like).
  18. Hem, where are you now? I want it badly!!!! So far, my favourites are in order of liking: Chandelier - of course, this is THE magical track, and one of the best I heard in 2008. A Storm Called Destiny - what a track! From a dark atmosphere to sunshine. Great finish. The Birth And Death Of Civilization By Acid Fire - very nice shift from Chandelier. Karma Olympics - cheerful and very good use of the female voice. Sun Om Beach Rainbow China - damn, it reminds another song, I think it is a rock song... or perhaps a pop one. A bit repetitive. Things get upbeat a little, good! The first two tracks of the EP are more minimal and introduce well the following tracks IMO. And sure, I like all of them... Is it also possible to have/hear your other more dated tracks? I saw that you made at least 5 more tracks before these ones.
  19. The problem is that their site looks quite professional. If I was an internet shopping newbie, I could definitely buy from them. But of course people need to search if an online shop is reliable, I hope the majority of people are aware of that.
  20. OK, today it stroke me like a furious lightning storm: Tandu - Visually Distorted's melody at the end sounds ALOT like Etnica - Trip Tonite! Does anybody else feels like it?... And also, the (amazing I must say) track Tandu - The System has a melodic climax which resembles alot of Transwave - Cycles Of Life. Yes?
  21. GAWWWDDD! Daffy Duck sounds so unbelievably gooooooooood! Can't wait to hear it full version.......
  22. La Chevauchée Fantastique and please! Check out the other tracks because in my opinion La Chevauchée is one of the worse tracks on this amazing album. For Slinky Nuns - Shitty Stick check out the Flying Rhino site with the free catalog, he should be there (I downloaded it from there). As for other tracks have you tried to Youtube them? I think especially about Astral and other known artists? There are like 100+ Goa tracks on there.
  23. OK I'm definitely considering buying the new Electrypnose. Perhaps Kino Oko - ADH but I'm not very sure... Pre-order Sundrops also.
  24. It's actually an EP: http://www.discogs.com/release/983089
