Time_Trap
found an EP named The Infinity Project - Time and Space EP PROMO I also see some even earlier releases in their discogs, dating back to 1991 even..!
Goa-Head
And so, was their need to open a thread for this? You think we don't know that a Time & Space EP from 1993 existed and that TIP had their first release in 1991 as House/Techno style ? ariScotle
Goa trance in the early 90s? NO WAY!! And discogs? THANKS - I had never heard of it.
Lemmiwinks
yes but you must be carefull... most of those very early releases where mostly acid house, EBM or whatnot and not especially enjoyable. Most of the time this type of releases are only good for their historical value but not really good for the listening experience. If you want to have a feeling of how the scene evolved into trance, you can watch various youtube channels with old trance, they are quite informative and don't require you to spend thousands of euros on obscure releases... I know a lot of you did - but not all, so cut that fucking arrogance, why not ? It's just that from what I remembered in such discussions about the earliest goa trance many mentioned Juno Reactor or Planet BEN , but I rarely remember such early TIP releases getting mentioned. Lemmi you have a point, but this specific release is indeed goa and enjoyable too
bwhale
Well this thread is a little bit lacking in point, so I propose a new question since it's going that way anyways... What was the first true goa trance release? :posford:
psytones
^I presume we're asking dunkadunk psy/goa-trance now and not any given electronic music played in Goa in the late 80's or smth. To my knowledge, the official earliest releases was: Juno Reactor - Transmission Various - Project II Trance
Lemmiwinks
What was the first true goa trance release? haha it's that time of the year again Well the short answer is that isn't one... since goa trance picked elements from other genres, it's impossible to draw the line between "something else with goa influences" and "something else-influenced goa". And if you dig the rabbit hole deeper you'll find that the whole concept of trance (multi-layered electronic music wtih arpeggios that induces a hypnotic state of mind) was already discovered in the 60s, just that "modern" trance simply took the same formula and added a 4/4 kick to it. That said, if you insist on having some names: (1974!! yes that is no typo...) KLF - What Time is Love (Pure Trance) (1988 - also the first time ever that the word "trance" was specifically used to describe this type of music) Amnesia - Ibiza (1988) Konzept - Hypnautic Beats (1990)
sektor101
...and let's not forget The Overlords - Sundown (1991)
Lemmiwinks
BTW since we're talking old releases here, what do you guys think of this: . Add a roling bassline to that and you have like the perfect dark trance track

If you mean the first true trance track, but not really refering to the euro trance/shitty trance sound and coming at it from a goa standpoint then yes absolutely and yes, phaedra is a damn awesome track.
