  1. Hello dear Psynewers ! A few weeks ago, a very interesting topic started by Taika-Kim was asking : what are the most oldschool-ish producers of our contemporary Goa scene. This lead to an exciting talk about the great comeback of the old vibe in modern Goa music. However, it seems to me that this talk must be completed by reverse questionning : _What is the most newschool Goa songs and artists ? Those who are firmly Goa, but that have very few in common with 90's Goa. _What are the common points between those songs/artists ? _Do these songs/artists express a trend that is to be developped in the next fex years ? Then, to start this topic, I'll submit a few candidates for the top rank of the most newschoolish sounds, and I will conclude with a short analysis. 1. Eleusyn (and Emmanuel Carpus in general) Hypno & Eleusyn - Ganduri (Eleusyn Remix) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ckl4b-7FFsE According to me, the Eleusyn Project (consisting of E-Mantra and Reasonandu) is the best example of Newschool Goa. It is, at the same time, a very effective conveyer of the Goa energy and a very inovative project with futuristic sounds. E-Mantra - Liquid Frequencies (2008 mix) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrKK_jLXImI E-Mantra is obviously one of the most creative and inspirationnal Newschool project, leading Goa music to a kind of new trend based mostly on deep, subsconscious, spiral melodies and heavy rolling basslines. But this track in particular is very intriguing. It is Goa Trance, without using any of the traditionnal Goa sounds : no eastern patterns, no Goa bassline, no acid whirling. 2. Fractal Vivisection Fractal Vivisection - Molecular Instability https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J5EN8UPh_g This songs begins like a Darkpsy track, and then turns Goa. This artist is only at its beginning, so the quality has to be improved, but the important fact here is the kind of sounds used in the Goa recipe. 3. Nova Fractal Nova Fractal - Perception https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8R41bccqvI In my opinion, this song embodies the most what is the Nova Fractal Project is : an oniric voyage through simple but efficient formulas, with those crystalline melodies typical of the Newschool era, and the integration of the full-on sound. 4. Filteria - Perpetually Delayed Voyage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3J6FsuT-m4 Filteria, although the fact that he's considered as the spear-head of the Newschool scene, can't be considered, IMO, as the most newschool project, since it is more a continuation, by modern means, of the Pleiadian spirit. But this song in particuar - Perpetually Delayed Voyage - has nothing to do with oldschool, and sounds like a vision of the future. It insists more on onirism than psychedelism, combines uplifting tones with a modern full-sound, and has a very contemporary storry-telling. 5. Lectro Spektral Daze (Sorry, the video embed doesn't work for my two final links. Please consider clicking them.) Lectro Spektral Daze - The Third Eye https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5fsdbVK6tY Lectro Spektral Daze do stay faithful to some oldschool melodic patterns. But it the way he plays with them that is brandly new. He enriches the oldschool spirits with a lot of modern sound taken from psytrance and progressive, and this engineering makes IMO of this project one of the most newschool one, alongside with its innovative acoustic experiences that can be heard in the climax of this song. 6. BlackStarrFinale BlackStarrFinale - Star Cloister https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMRNbOVKB0c When dealing with newschoolish sound, you cant' forget the project of Luis Pabon. He's a very newschool artist by the way he turns the full-on sound into a Goa sound, and develops blurred melodies scattered between the kicks. A brief analysis All the songs and projects quoted hereabove are pretty different from each other. However, we can notice some similtudes. The most striking aspect of all those songs is the fact that, in their definition, they aren't so a continuation of oldschool Goa that an evolution of the 2k's psytrance scene. They seem to be more an evolution of psytrance than an evolution of Goa, and the fact that Neo Goa concentrates most of the creative potential of the whole psy-scene and attracts more and more young artists makes me think that this melodic trend of psytrance will develop, and perhaps replace former genres, while newschool oldschool will keep spreading in parallel. And, a second point that links several of these songs is that they insist more on onirism than psychedelism, and insists much more on storry-telling than the 90's artists ever did. What do you think of it ?
  2. BOOM! RECORDS presents FRACTAL GLIDER "Eclectic Ecliptic" Digital EP, OUT NOW! GET YOUR COPY HERE: http://www.beatport.com/release/eclectic-ecliptic/1328719 Paul McCosh (Melbourne, Australia) began his career under the stage name Fractal Glider. Fractal Glider was noted for his original high energy sound, and for being representative of the Melbourne psychedelic/trance scene. He appeared mainly in Australia (including the Earthcore electronic music festival), Japan and New Zealand, but also participated in parties and festivals in Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France and Belgium. Fractal Glider began composing trance music in 1995, prior to which he worked as a sound engineer. He released two albums. His debut album, Parasite, was released on BooM! Records (Netherlands). His second and last album, Digital Mandala featured several new tracks and a remix of "Mezmorized". To promote this album Fractal Glider went on an international tour through Japan, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal, Hungary and Austria in 2003. Fractal Glider has also released singles on 14 compilations on different labels worldwide. After a couple of years of silence he's finally back! The silence was broken with his live appearance at the Eclipse 2012 Festival in Queensland, Australia. Now he has produced a brand new three track ep on BooM! Records with a new album to follow. The news of the comeback of Australian master producer Fractal Glider eclipsed the news of BooM! Records’s return. A three track ep containing fresh psychedelic Fractal sound. High in energy, pumping basslines, sweet melodies. Tracks to rock the dancefloor! 3. During the 90's Kristian aká Elysium was involved in several side projects such as Sheyba with Jean Borell (Orion), Kailash with Tsuyoshi Suzuki (Prana), Kaaya with Paul Jackson (Voodoo People/Juno Reactor) and Undercover with Graham Wood (The Infinity Project). A few years back he had some fun in the studio making remixes of a few of the old classics from these side projects and ended up using them in a special Live performance around the World. This release which also include two live remixes of old Elysium classics is now being released for the first time. All recognisable and in sync with the vibe of the 90's Goa trance sound. https://soundcloud.com/hypnoticlforoom/sets/the-live-remixes

  5. Psytek (BE) - We're All Math Here (Forest Mix) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.mixcloud.com/Psyt3k/psytek-were-all-math-here-forest-mix-1/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After 10 years of collecting this music I felt it was time to upload a Forest Trance mix. For this one I tried to focus on atmospheric "mossy" tracks in which the artists spent a lot of attention to the percussion works. I picked out music since '05 until now and wanted to stay within the modern Forest Trance sound. The first half of the mix is pure night time music that will hopefully get you ready to dive into the twilight/morning part, when the sun comes up, and the music becomes more floating and subtle. And for anyone who makes it to the end, there is a nice melodic surprise! This mix was made to spread the vibes as the artists intended it. All respect goes to them. Please support them and their labels by buying their work if you like it! And please leave a comment on my set if you feel like it, as I'm only doing this for the dancefloor, and your home listening pleasure!

  12. YSE RECORDINGS proudly presents RADIAL "Alien Obsession" EP - OUT NOW Digital: http://btprt.dj/1wxQyEg We have an internal fascination with the unknown. Those other creatures that we are meant to believe are vastly different from us. Some call it Alien Obsession, while some will argue that they are not alien at all, they are just like us, but different. Trying to understand different forms of life is a never ending journey, because the more we understand the other, the more we understand ourselves. This obsession can be moderated by Radial, aka Amir Ben Natan, from Israel. Amir is known for his Full-On project Chichke but Radial is his new Progressive Psy project that seeks to explore extra terrestrial lands. Armed with atmospheric, melodic, and groovy sounds, Radial will take you on a voyage to your soul. This Alien Obsession has exploded in various time periods when humans felt they had to get to the bottom of what is perceived as a foreign affair. Warning signs that said – Watch Out – were spread all over across nations and organizations that were mainly scared of anything that was not familiar to them. It might take some time until such life forms will receive a Standing Ovation for surviving conditions that humans could never go through, but before that there needs to be a better communication between the sides. After that, the sky is the limit! GET YOUR COPY HERE: http://btprt.dj/1wxQyEg Tracklisting: 1. Radial - Alien Obsession. 2. Radial - Watch Out. 3. Radial - Standing Ovation. 13. BOOM! RECORDS presents SUPERGROOVER "42" Digital EP OUT NOW! GET YOUR COPY HERE: http://www.beatport.com/release/42/1328590 Supergroover is a progressive psytrance project by Raoul Koning from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. With this EP BooM! Records bring you four fresh tracks. These tracks are not the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything. Indeed, they are the key to rock the dancefloors and kick up some dust! Atmospheric tracks with full basslines, trippy effects and a little pinch of salt. Psychedelic sounds, infaded by dubby delays and lush soundeffects. All this and more to speed up your dancing moves and make all 8 bit boys and girls smile! Supergroover started in 2002 with some local underground parties but soon expanded to other sides of the world. Furthermore he has played on many festivals and in many countries like Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Mexico, Guatemala and Bolivia. His dj sets are dynamic, not preplanned and with a funky progressive touch. For a few years he has been producing progressive psytrance as well. Making up a nice mixture of atmospheric sounds with an active underlayer of kick & bass, topped with acid influenced sounds and melodies. Supergroover project focuses on spacious progressive psychedelic trance, laced with acid drenched leads. He has released material on IONO Music, Freakuency Records, Bleep Bizarre Records and now BooM! Records. Around 1997 he was drawn to the psytrance scene by the parties organised by Matt and Remko from BooM! Records. So releasing an EP with BooM! 15 years later brings back some nice memories! 15. Artist: Various Title: 71 Degrees North Label: DVSM Records Date: May, 2014 1. Phobium - Calyx 2. Bloomen - Echodroplets 3. Time For Slime - Apparater 4. Zoon - Dreamer 5. Scope - ElecTroll 6. Silent Horror - Itami 7. Terratech - Crystal Cascade 8. Paranoiac - Peace From Other Space (Part II) 9. Sundance Kid - Tesla 10. Yggdrasil - Ratatosk 11. Phobium - Bulb "Today we talked about turning your daydreams into reality. Tonight I want each one of you to go home and do just that!" c'mon, c'mon, c'mon.... 71 degrees north? The parallel? Like the Arctic and sh*t? Sounds desolate. I can already hear the f bombs an alien would drop if that's where he crash landed. "Mother...f*cker! Why the f*ck did you drop us here? There's nothing! Zero! F*cking nobody! I swear if you weren't my sister's kid I would've vaporized you!" If aliens were so advanced they'd stop landing in the middle of nowhere and start prepping for splashdown in Bermuda. Let's see what countries inhabit that area...Norway, Canada, USA (Alaska of course why wouldn't is be?) Greenland (ain't no green there) and Russia. What could these countries possibly have in common? That's once you get into the parking garage. I mean really? This is a place where hard on's go to die and shrinkage is a perpetual state. A place that is denied the sun for 3 months straight, cut off from the outside world due to storms like arctic hurricanes. I mean what the f*ck those two words aren't even supposed to go together! But just when you'd think that all is lost and the vampires would rule the eternal darkness, the sun comes back and the people celebrate with hot chocolate. DVSM is back with their latest compilation and what a varied effort it is. You've got everything in here. Darkpsy, forest, ambient...and the artwork is a perfect partner to the music inside. Calyx- Cold and vast the tundra sprawls before me. I force myself to move a little faster as the sun slowly attempts to reach the horizon. Superbly descriptive opener. As I begin to hunker down for the night I notice a penguin remains close. Echodroplets- This track sounds like the artists name. Cool slow downs and synths that are in kind of goa motion. Apparater- Time for slime? Don't mind if I do. Over 13 minutes of delicious forest psychedelia. Not in a dark way either. Outstandingly done with sounds that tumble over each other as if they where water molecules in slow motion. Dreamer- Very BOTFB hallucinogenic goa trance. Scando-goa if you will. And that's all right by me. Pretty intense and dripping like a Salvador Dali painting. Dali-goa I guess. Electroll- This is what happens when you don't make it back to base camp before sundown. Stuck in a thick forest with only the northern lights for illumination. Every sound makes me jump as the sound of tortured souls break the silence. Well layered bubbly stuff of horror movies. I can't find my penguin friend at all. Itami- I just need a window in, something to make the darkpsy more accessible and the lush detail here provides it. Echoing tones and eerie melodies make this my absolute favorite track from Mr. Shah. It's otherworldly and bursting at the seams with effects. Crystal Cascade- Another rapid and pummeling darkpsy track where tones sound like tumbling crystals as the bass rumbles and hammers away at your sanity. This is darkness incarnate. The wind is still blowing and you begin to question your decision to outlast the arctic hurricane. Those two words together are still frightening. Peace From Other Space (Part II)- After the last track has flayed the sinew from your body the aliens with a poor sense of direction arrive and well, I guess it's time for the probing. This is not as mind numbing with a little more melody work. Harsh sounds of machinery screech above the deep bass and yeah that big pointy thing is about to enter your business end. But it's definitely on the lighter side. Tesla- We are in the much softer portion of the album with glacial pads. I survived the hurricane and looking forward to the hot chocolate. Light and airy, but ultimately not that interesting to me. Tatatosk- Dubby beats to let you drift away. Staring at the horizon sipping my hot chocolate I can't help but wonder if my penguin friend made it out ok. Bulb- A wary closing bit of ambient reminding you to not underestimate nature's power and the 71st parallel. I'm not a darkpsy guy, but I appreciate the talent and skill it takes to put the mass of sounds and detail together into a cohesive structure. And this was some of the most enjoyable dark stuff I've listened to. The Phobium tracks are also some of his best work for me; as lush and moving as I've heard from him. The flow of the album really stands out and it's very fluid. Even though I may not have liked every track, without being partially mixed this was smooth. As I mentioned you get a little bit of everything and it's the closest you can come to being in this fascinating ecosystem without strapping on the cold weather gear and snowshoes. 21. Title : Psygamma - Megatron Label : Phonix Records Cat no. : PHODIGI009 Format : Digital download Release Date: 23rd May 2014 Mastered by Dale Byl @ db Mastering, South Africa Artwork by Etnarama Notorious across the cosmos for his beat hacking, space diving and dancefloor demolition skills, Israeli scientist – Psygamma (Omri Fabish) – decided it was time to fuse his brand of cutting edge sonic mayhem with weaponized soundwaves to create the ultimate secret weapon of neurological destruction. Hearing of his plans, the Phonix Records labs were faced with a moral dilemma - to release upon the unsuspecting solar system this super powered monster or... not? In the end, the choice was clear, the twisted minds had won! Phonix Records is proud to present Psygamma's debut solo EP - 'Megatron'. We are immediately engaged by sounds, familiar, yet alien, a tremendous ‘Space Battle’ ensuing; Psygamma’s epic retelling of fellow beat hacking mad man – Inzimo’s sci-fi inspired tale. With phasers set to kill, the unsuspecting listener is immediately induced with our scientists’ sonic beams. Barely having recovered from the initial shocks of experiencing space warfare, the weaponized waves induce the numbness of ‘Blue Brain’, the physiological condition brought about naturally by the cold void of outer space. Symptoms include shivers, perspiration, a ghoulish attitude and the need to pound one’s feet on the floor. The last and most significant chapter of this saga is the epitome of Psygamma's true intention - to take over this galaxy through his secret weapon - 'Megatron'! Sinister melodies accompanied by uncontrollable energy will help release enough endorphins to scramble what is left of your fragile mind. With this EP, Phonix Records continues to push forward only the very best in twilight psytrance. And on that note, let us unleash upon this reality the twisted arms of Psygamma's super weapon - 'Megatron', roll out! TRACKLIST: 1. Wow, you really went there. Ok, ok... It's easy to pick on this label with its severely over the top imagery. But besides catering to the mentally disturbed and half naked vampire chicks they have actually thrown out some pretty good music. I liken it to working with Woody Allen. Sure he's embarrassing and probably a pedophile, but a butt load of people still line up to be in his sh*tty movies. And in no way am I insinuating that this Mexican label is associated with pedophilia. Last thing I need is a little Mexican justice showing up unannounced on the doorstep in the form of...let's say a package the approximate size of a hat box. So as you can tell from the disturbed individual on the cover in which the word terror appears 3 times this music firmly plants itself in the darkness. In fact the first CD is called Out of the Night. And oh boy does it come out swinging. Full power berserker mode with acid flung in all directions. Even Orca put out a bit of grooviness which means I gotta go get the shovel from the shed and dig up the daisy blanked I had dumped on him. It only took 5 tracks before Ironstein & Co. had to assault my ears with those ostentatious buildups, which for this label is a win. And the cheesy samples didn't begin until The Forsaken. No big deal. That's why God invented the skip button. The entire first disc is intense and will tire you out. By the end your mosh pit brutality will be little more than pinballing off other dancers. P*ssy. I know I should be embarrassed by listening to Dopeman. And I am. But I can also tell you that I've been singing that hook all morning. My groupies are ages 2 and 5 and they just kicked my ass in Candyland while sipping on apple juice. The second disc into the light starts with We Have Explosive...shouldn't that be explosives? Unless you just have one. Maybe they didn't let you finish...perhaps it's explosive diarrhea. In which case you go stand over there. Keep going. It's a slower track (as if they knew you needed concussion recovery time) but it still fits right in. Even though the second disc is on the lighter side it's not sleepy time. The problem is if this label isn't bringing the heat the rest comes off as rather impotent sounding stuff. Hardly worth being thrown in the cell with the anarchist on the cover. It seems like they did it this way to broaden their market share and catch those who don't like it as heavy whilst still appealing to the base. Psyshop Beatspace Mdk
  23. Tribal Village - A Psychedelic Adventure.... Sat 6th September 2014 Tribal Village is the playground of the wanderers, the explorers, the mystics and the magicians. It is where our subconscious guides us in search of a story, where we find new beginnings, or where journeys complete their circle. Tribal Village is our collective space, to explore the infinite realms of consciousness, and to re-discover our human experience from which we are disconnected. It is where the universe travels around us, instead of us traversing the universe. It is where we can explode and re-construct, where we can invigorate our imagination, and it is where we can suspend our fears and glimpse freedom, for a moment. Take the road through Tribal Village! A hiatus from your long adventure is due; we have enchantment to share and tales to tell, wonder to bestow and people to meet. Relight the fire!
